INTRODUCING KATELYN PATER AND JULIANNE DI BENEDETTO
When our clients hire us, they deserve the best representation. In the last year, we hired two highly effective team members who go above and beyond to serve our clients. Let me introduce you all to Katelyn and Julianne.
Katelyn grew up in the western suburbs of Chicago with her brother, Michael. Katelyn graduated from the University of Missouri in 2020. When she’s not in the office, Katelyn enjoys cooking, reading, and writing.
Meet Katelyn Pater.
Meet Julianne Di Benedetto.
Katelyn joined our team this past spring to help Brittany Peterson. For the past four years, Brittany has worked with us to help educate our clients and the public on legal matters. Since Brittany has been here, we’ve published four books, and now we promote webinars to educate on emerging legal issues. Check out our YouTube channel and our website to see the great work Brittany has orchestrated.
In the fall of 2021, we were looking for a team member who could help manage the administrative side of our vaccine injury practice — Julianne Di Benedetto was the answer. Like Heather Sykora, we met Julianne through the Paralegal Studies Program at the College of DuPage. Julianne hit the ground running in October. Julianne has taken concrete steps to continuously improve our vaccine injury practice. We’re excited to see what great things Julianne accomplishes next.
Well, earlier this year, Brittany needed some help. Enter Katelyn.
Katelyn now manages our social media presence, writes blogs for our website, and so much more. She traveled with Brittany in the fall to attend a conference in San Diego so she could better tell our story to our clients and community. Katelyn also helps with paralegal and office administration when needed, including answering your calls. She is ALWAYS nice and professional. Thank you for your hard work, Katelyn! Since joining SLG, Katelyn has enjoyed working with our team the most. She says, “They’re absolutely the kindest people I have ever met and always make my days better!”
Before she joined Shannon Law Group, Julianne was the senior supervising paralegal at a law firm for six years.
Julianne graduated from the College of DuPage and earned several certificates in arts, accounting, and office management. She plans on pursuing her bachelor’s degree in the upcoming year! Here’s a fun fact about Julianne: She is a first-generation Italian-American. Her father immigrated with his family from Italy to New York City in the 1960s. She grew up in the suburbs of New York City before she moved to Chicago with her family. In her spare time, Julianne enjoys spending time with her husband, Brandon, and their cats, Bynx and Savannah, at her home in the western suburbs.
From all of us at SLG, have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
With gratitude,
– Joe Shannon

TWO CHARITIES NEAR AND DEAR TO OUR HEARTS
St. Joan of Arc Catholic School’s Adopt-A-Student Program
We have been monitoring the increased spread in the ongoing pandemic in the past few weeks. With the well-being of everyone in mind, we have decided that we will be postponing our 2021 Christmas Party that was scheduled for Wednesday, Dec. 29 at Quigley’s Irish Pub in Naperville. When we meet again, we will be promoting two charities that are near and dear to our hearts: St. Vincent de Paul and St. Joan of Arc School Adopt-a-Student Fund. In 2019, we raised over $30,000 for these two charities at our Christmas gathering. Thank you to our generous donors for your continued support! Here’s more information about these charities and the great work they do in our community:
All of our children have been blessed to attend St. Joan of Arc School (SJA) in Lisle, and we’d like to give other parents that same opportunity for their children. The Adopt-a-Student Program provides assistance to families to pay tuition. We are proud to step up for SJA and hope you will, too.
If you have any questions, please text me at 312-847-2428.
God bless,
– Joseph Shannon
Society of St. Vincent De Paul
St. Vincent de Paul has been “silently” giving to those in need for over 150 years. St. Vincent discreetly aids needy families and visits homes and hospitals to serve those in distress. At our St. Joan of Arc’s St. Vincent de Paul Society, 100% of the money donated goes to needy families.
BUILDING YOUR WINTER CAR EMERGENCY KIT
Assembling an emergency preparedness kit for your vehicle is a must. You can keep it in your car or give it to a younger driver in your household. When you do have to face an emergency, you’ll be glad you have it. These emergency kits often include blankets, bottled drinking water, food, cellphone chargers, flashlights, first- aid kits, basic car repair tools, and more. But if you live in an area with freezing weather (like we do in the Windy City), you should be sure to have an additional winter preparedness kit for colder months. Here are six things we recommend adding to your car emergency kit this winter:
4. Warm hat, socks, and gloves —
Include hand warmer packs for more protection against frostbite.
5. Lock defroster spray — Keep this spray in the glove compartment in case the trunk gets frozen shut with your preparedness kit inside. If you haven’t already, we highly recommend getting a copy of our book, “Be Prepared: Your Ultimate Guide to Common Roadside Emergencies & Safety.” Want a copy to put in your glove compartment? All you have to do is text “PREPARED” to 312-847-2428, and we’ll mail you a free copy — no questions asked.
1. Collapsible shovel
2. Windshield scraper with a small broom
3. Warm blankets or sleeping bag — Wool is best as it keeps you warm even if you get wet.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year From Your Friends at SLG!
On my podcast “The Opening Statement,” I just released an episode with Sebastian White, O.P., a Dominican friar and editor-in-chief of the monthly publication Magnificat. To me, it was a great interview with a brilliant young man making a huge difference in the lives of others. Check out the podcast at TheOpeningStatementPod.com. I am an avid reader. I subscribe to Magnificat and read it every morning. It’s part of my ritual. This publication reminds me of my priorities (God first, others second, me last). Check it out at us.magnificat.net. Because the Magnificat has been such a great resource, I want to share it with you. If you would like a subscription to Magnificat, text “Magnificat” to my personal text number at 312-847-2428, and I promise to pay for your subscription for a year. Merry Christmas!
