CREATING A FACEBOOK BUSINESS PAGE

1 First things first, login to your personal Facebook account in order to create a business account.

Once you are on your regular home screen, look for the drop-down arrow in the upper right hand.

On the next screen, click Get Started underneath Business or Brand.

You will be asked to upload a profile picture and a cover photo, please skip this step in the process, you’ll have more editing capability once on the actual business page. Simply press Skip for steps 1 and 2. You will be brought to a page titled Create a Page from there you will need to fill out your name, category, business address and business phone number. After filling this all out, you can continue. Our naming convention is as follows: “Your Name - USA Mortgage”

Make sure you skip the step above; wait until you can make edits on the actual page, it will allow for more editing.

CREATING A FACEBOOK BUSINESS PAGE

Once on the About page, scroll down to the bottom of the page so you are able to see the general info, business info, additional contact info, and more info sections. In the General section, feel free to create a username for your business account; this makes it easier for people to find you and your page. People often use their first and last name for the username, so that is matches their page name. Next, scroll down to the Additional Contact Info section to add your business email address by clicking + Enter email. After clicking send, an email will be sent to you, to confirm the address, afterward you may return to your Facebook page. After skipping the profile photo and cover photo section you will be brought to your personal business home page. On the left hand side, there are a variety of options for customizing your page, select About to get started.

You may have to press a See More button to see this information.

For example, if your name is John Doe - USA Mortgage, your username could be @johndoeusamortgage.

This should be the email you use most frequently for business purposes.

Also in the Additional Contact Info section, you will need to provide your website URL. Copy and paste your website’s URL link and place it in the provided box, like in the picture. Make sure to click Save before exiting. 10

After entering your email address and website, move to the More Info section and click the Edit About. Here you will provide your Company NMLS number, personal NMLS number as well as “Equal Housing Opportunity” like shown in the photo below. 11

After making sure you have all of your information filled out (email address, website, company NMLS, personal NMLS and Equal Housing Opportunity) you are ready to begin posting and sharing your page!

POSTING TO YOUR FACEBOOK BUSINESS PAGE

1 Login to your personal Facebook account, so you are able to access your business page.

You can either click on the Manage Pages button as described, or click on your page directly from the drop down under the View Pages tab.

Click on your business page so that it appears as the main screen. Once you are on your regular home screen, look for the drop-down arrow in the upper right hand corner of the screen. Hover over the arrow until you see the options below it and click on Manage Pages option. Your business page should appear in the middle of the screen, click on it. From there, you should see a box near the top of the screen (below the cover photo) that reads Write a Post in it. Click inside the box and begin typing your post. Once finished with your post, click Post and it will appear on your timeline. Anyone who follows your page will be able to see it.

If you choose, you may also upload photos and/or videos to your post. Simply do so by clicking on the Photo/Video button and uploading your photos and/or videos from your computer or phone.

SHARING BUSINESS POSTS TO YOUR PERSONAL PAGE

Click the Home button at the top of your Facebook screen and it should bring you back to your OWN Facebook account.

You can search for your business page to find the post or find the post on the timeline. After finding the it, go to the bottom left-hand corner of the post, find the Share button and click it.

It will give you two options: Share and Share to a Page.

Clicking Share will bring you to a new page asking you to “Say something about this” post, where you will be able to write a caption.

Clicking Share to a Page will post it automatically to your page.

If you do share business posts to your personal page, then your personal page must also meet compliance standards (having your NMLS, company NMLS and Equal Housing Opportunity displayed).

ANALYZING YOUR FACEBOOK PAGE & POSTS

Analyzing the amount of reach your posts and page get can be extremely beneficial to your business. Doing this allows you to see how many people have viewed your page and posts within a given week and will allow you to figure out what is working best for your business page.

Once you are on your regular home screen, look for the drop-down arrow in the upper right hand corner of the screen. Hover over the arrow until you see the options below it and click on Manage Pages option. Your business page should appear in the middle of the screen, click on it.

Click on your business page so that it appears as the main screen.

At the top of your business page, you should see a toolbar, under the main blue bar, click on Insights.

On the Insights page you will be able to see the varying analytics Facebook provides for business accounts. You will be able to change the date range to view different weeks.
