Letter from the OCGS President

By: Patrick Kamann, President, OCGS Board of Directors

Join us for the next OCGS event

ing education and networking events. In September, we held the 30th Annual Shrimp Boil hosted at The Greens. The Greens offered a great venue with indoor and outdoor seating, and attendees com- mented they enjoyed the new location. Additionally, several folks came out to the Fall Sporting Clay Shoot where Impac Ex- ploration Services cooked lunch, and Jeff Kelley at RockWise provided a shotgun for auction. The Field Trip led by Molly Turko, exploring the structural geology of the Wichita Uplift, and the Practical As- pects of Petroleum Geochemistry course by John Curtis and Alex Zumberge from GeoMark, were great educational oppor- tunities. Finally, we are excited to have 73 people signed up to play in our Golf Tour- nament on November 8th. We have more events coming up later this year as well as scheduled for next year. One great event to look forward to is the OCGS Christ-

mas Party on December 2nd hosted at The Greens Country Club. Please come out to enjoy an evening with family, friends and colleagues. I want to thank our Education Committee chairs, Chris Wigger and Raleigh Blum- stein, as well as our Social Committee Chairs, Dick Howell, Ryan Nostrud, and Lesley Evans. They have worked hard to put on a great program this fall. I also want to thank Michelle Hone and James Beavers. Michelle is always working to keep the society going in the right direc- tion and James continues to give his time to help us put on some great events. Please thank each of them the next time you see them and keep an eye on the calendar for more great events to come! Patrick
