Dear Families and Guests,
We begin our sixth year as a school this year, and our fourth year as a varsity athletic program. Thank you for coming out to the ball game! We continue to be excited about our growth. We began in 2016 with 99 students and have added every year since, maxing out this fall with nearly 350 students. We offer students eight classes each year at both the Honors/A.P. or Collegiate Studies levels, with a four year requirement in English, Math, Science, History and Theology and a two year requirement in Languages and the Fine Arts, with the opportunity to take seven electives over the course of four years. In athletics, we now sponsor 20 varsity sports. We’re in the middle of a four-phased capital plan, having purchased 40 acres of adjacent property in 2019 and having just completed a field house with lockers and weight room in the spring of 2021. Phase III will be the site development for an athletic complex, and Phase IV will be the completion of the complex, with bleachers, fences, dugouts, bathrooms, lights, etc. We are grateful for everyone’s generosity to help us get to this point. And yes, we’re thrilled by the addition of our new football coach, Philip Rivers, who began with us in March after completing a sterling 17-year career as Q.B. in the N.F.L. Not only does he bring a depth of knowledge, experience and enthusiasm to our program, we believe he will also greatly advance the mission of St. Michael, to help our students become “scholars, leaders and disciples of Jesus Christ.” I hope you enjoy your time with us. Please remember to cheer for our teams in a manner befitting our mission, and at the end of the contest, let us go home as friends and neighbors, blessed to cheer for our school and our student-athletes.
Faustin Weber, Principal
GO CARDINALS!
Faustin Weber Principal
Hello Cardinal fans, Welcome to St. Michael Catholic High School. It is hard to believe we are starting our sixth year of athletic competition. As you know, the world is still a little different today than it was in previous years. But, like Mr. Weber has said, “We have done this once, we can do it again!” Athletics are meant to be joyous. As we all deal with our new normal again this year, I ask you to please remember we are here to watch our children enjoy themselves on the field. Please support them in a positive manner. I also thank you in advance for your cooperation by following the guidelines we have laid out for attending athletic competitions. Our campus is alive with activity. All of our teams have been working since June to prepare for this season. I would like to thank all of our coaches for the work they have done to get their squads ready for this season. We are already reaping the benefits of our new field house. The weight room has been a welcomed addition to help prepare our athletes for competition. We are grateful to everyone who has contributed to the capital campaign. We start this school year with 21 varsity teams, 15 junior varsity teams, 1 freshman team, and 6 middle school teams who will all compete for St. Michael. We have come a long way from our first season in 2016 when we only had 9 junior varsity teams. This season we have added more middle school teams to our athletic department. Students from Christ the King, St. Benedict, and St. Patrick will play together on our Cardinal teams in volleyball, basketball, and baseball. We also have several new faces on our coaching staff. We would like to welcome Coach Rivers (football), Coach Gellington (cheer), and Coach Bailey (middle school volleyball) to our community. Thank you for your support of Cardinal Athletics. Our athletic programs would not be possible without the support of our boosters (the Cardinal Club), corporate sponsors, and the families in our community. All of the sponsors represented in this media guide have committed to furthering Catholic education in the Archdiocese of Mobile and specifically here in Baldwin County. Please support their businesses whenever possible. Their contributions have helped our teams in many ways. Please enjoy the game. Again, these are exciting times at St. Michael Catholic High School. On behalf of our administration, teachers, coaches, and student athletes I would like to thank you again for your support of the St. Michael athletic programs. We will always strive for excellence both on the field and in the classroom. We look to build on the great foundation that was laid in our first five years.

We want our students to “go for it,” to extend themselves beyond their comfort zones, to delve deeper into their studies, to try out for teams (even if not selected), to join new clubs, to serve others in new ways, and to strive for excellence. In so doing, we believe students will grow into young men and women who are good, happy, confident in their futures, and ready to lead others to what is holy and true. Infused with optimism, immersed in a culture of excellence, blessed by teachers who care about students and lift them up when they stumble, and elevated by a dynamic Catholic faith, may St. Michael help form great hearts and minds to do great things! Our Vision

SAILING
SAILING COACH
Holly Murray • Head Coach
Holly Murray is entering her third year as coach of the St. Michael Catholic High School Sailing team. As of May 2015, Coach Murray has been, and currently is, the sailing director and coach at the Fairhope Yacht Club located in Fairhope, Alabama. She has been a sailing instructor throughout the Gulf Coast area since the age of seventeen. Sailing has been a vessel for her to coach in different parts of the country, from coaching at the New York Sailing School to sailing and coach at the Southern Yacht Club in Louisiana. Coach Murray was born
and raised on the Gulf Coast of Mississippi where she found her passion in sailing as a child. In her young adult life, Holly had the opportunity to sail with former Olympic Sailor Eugene Walet in various national, district and local regattas. The success of Coach Murray’s career has provided her many opportunities to represent what sailing means to her with being the first female Commodore of the Long Beach Yacht Club, Commodore of the Mississippi Gulf Coast Yachting Association, and the GYA representative to the US Sailing Association.
