Tables & Tangerines
Hello January 2021!
Editor’s Note!
Thank God for another opportunity to see a new year! When I think about new things, I think about decorating and designing. I have always loved decorating and being creative. My family and friends often seek me for creative ideas and ways to do a variety of things, and I enjoy meeting the challenges from table décor, to staging designs, to event setups, to food selections, and more. I am one who loves looking at model homes, new houses, home improvement shows, and will rearrange areas in my house just for fun. So why the name, “ Tables & Tangerines ” for a magazine, you ask? Well, this is my way of bringing together my love of decorating, entertaining, writing, editing, and designing with encouraging people to live an abundant and quality life! Tangerines are orange (my favorite color) and represent my fondness of tasty food. I credit my son, Tyler, for the name. You will also learn everything you need to know about how tangerines are beneficial to you! Throughout this grand digital magazine, you will find tips, articles, information, and ads all about life and the aspects of decorating and design that affect our standard of living. According to research, there is a psychology behind decorating that goes beyond color and furniture choices. The choices that we make to decide how our homes will look affect our emotions and beliefs. Our homes, therefore, reflect our values, our standards, our habits, our families, our comfort, and how we view life. Tables & Tangerines magazine is a great resource to homeowners, realtors, investors, lenders, restaurants, landscapers, families, hotels, parents, financial advisors, interior designers, stagers, business owners, communities, and more! Theaters may be closed due to COVID-19; however, we have entertainment included in our Life Is A Stage section. Check out our Milk and Honey Life monthly recipes, and food recommendations. As a woman of faith, it is important for me to share my gratitude and love for the Lord in a word of encouragement to others. You will find great joy in learning about this in the Faith and Family Life section. W hatever you’re looking for, take a seat, relax, and explore life with Tables & Tangerines!

doesn’t bring you joy, discard it. There are several organizing experts with tips and checklists on becoming clutter-free. The key with most of them is to stop holding on to things and declutter from a place of enough.
Looking for ways to start off 2021 with a new look for your home? Well, here are a few ideas to help.
✓ REARRANGE/REFRESH
✓ DECLUTTER
Pick a room or area to rearrange. Sometimes just having a chair or table moved around in another place in a room can give a fresh look to that room or area. For a living room, try moving the sofa from the wall to the center of the room and arrange the other items in the room around it. Place a high table behind the sofa and add accent pieces like picture frames or other items from your room to the table. If you have plants or books, try placing them in a different area. Find a focal point in the room, and place your furniture and items facing it. Maybe
Declutter old, unused, unfit (no, not your family), and broken items. Decide that enough is enough and let go of some things. You can’t receive a blessing with a closed hand. Don’t get overwhelmed. Remember the saying about an elephant, “How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time.” Find one spot or area in your home, office, or whatever location you know is cluttered. Take a small trash bag to start with. For every item or thing, you look at, decide whether it should be kept, thrown away or donated. According to the KonMari Method, when decluttering if an item

your space is too small to really move large items like a bed or a desk. If this is the case, then focus on the walls or any free floor space. Change your wall décor with the picture arrangement. Look in a different area of your home or office and swap out decorative pieces. Change the cover or duvet on your bed to a different color. Put up a new set of window panels or blinds. Change your lamp shades. Plan according to your style and look for simple changes to get a fresh perspective.
decorative shelf or shelves on the wall instead of a bookcase. Do you want to showcase some artwork? There are so many unique and interesting pieces of wall art that would enhance any bland wall. Try putting one large piece in the center of the wall and add a wall sconce on each side of the piece. Or put shadow boxes of art pieces in groups of three or more on the wall. Section off an area below the boxes and place a matching- colored piece of wood trim the width of the wall beneath it. Put decorative removable wallpaper in the bottom section of the wall. If you want to just keep things simple, just pick a color and paint the wall but have fun with the design. Make the wall your feature wall. Show your personality. Create a theme for your wall. Stick to a style and function, then design away! -Latricia Bailey
✓ DESIGN
Design an accent wall. Don’t be afraid to be daring with paint, a piece of artwork, wallpaper, or shelving. Once you decide on a wall to design, then decide what function you want that wall to serve as. Will you need books to be shelved on it? If so, try putting a
