CONNECTING TO SUCCESS With more than 100 years of experience training practising lawyers and, more recently, business professionals, we have established and developed connections with a range of firms, chambers and employers in various sectors. We draw upon these connections to ensure that our courses remain relevant and give you the skills and commercial awareness that we believe will set you up for success. Our panel of visiting professors from leading law firms help to reinforce this principle, passing on their excellent legal knowledge and skills through their lectures and seminars.

GLOBAL CONNECTIONS In an increasingly international economy we know how important it is to remain connected to the wider world, which is why we work with top law firms across the globe to maintain strong links with law schools and professional bodies throughout Europe and the rest of the world. EVENTS TO CONNECT We host a series of events to give you the opportunity to learn from professionals across the sector, as well as begin networking with industry leaders. These range from panel events to our annual National Law Fair, which attracts over 30 top law firms looking to recruit our students onto their training contracts. INSPIRING SUPPORT Our mentoring scheme has been running for over ten years, with support ranging from first seat trainees through to senior partners. A LARGE AND VARIED PRO BONO PROGRAMME Our pro bono programme offers numerous placements for you to gain exposure to life as a lawyer through supervised experience or from shadowing practitioners, giving you an extra opportunity to enhance your career prospects. You’ll have the chance to participate in legal advice centres, helping to answer legal enquiries from the general public and gaining valuable first-hand experience of client relationships, legal research and drafting. Our Streetlaw and public legal education programmes raise legal awareness in communities through outreach activities. With our external placements you’ll get to experience helping real clients in a real working environment. We’ll help you to obtain placements in a range of not-for-profit organisations which provide members of the public with free legal advice and representation. We arrange various shadowing opportunities throughout the year to give you the chance to see and experience what it’s like to be a solicitor or judge first-hand.

OUR COURSE OPTIONS

AT THE UNIVERSITY OF LAW WE OFFER A VARIETY OF COURSE LENGTHS AND STUDY METHODS DESIGNED TO SUIT STUDENTS IN A VARIETY OF SITUATIONS. GRADUATE DIPLOMA IN LAW (GDL) The GDL is our conversion course for non-law graduates wishing to become a solicitor or a barrister. Our unique modular GDL spreads the workload for, what we consider to be, a better paced approach. Study modes available: Full-time, part-time weekend, part-time evening, full-time online*, part-time online* MASTER OF ARTS IN LAW (MA LAW) Designed for non-law graduates, successful completion of this course will gain you a legal qualification at Master’s level. This internationally recognised qualification is ideal if you are considering a career either in or outside of the legal sector.

LEGAL PRACTICE COURSE (LPC) The LPC is for graduates who have

successfully completed a qualifying law degree or the GDL. It’s the pathway into practice for law graduates who wish to train as a solicitor. Upon starting the LPC, you can also choose to study our MSc** or LLM at no extra cost, which involves study of an additional module and a research report/ case study. Study modes available: Full-time, full-time accelerated, part-time day, part-time evening, part-time weekend, full-time online LLM-LPC***, part-time online LLM-LPC*** BAR PROFESSIONAL TRAINING COURSE (BPTC) Our BPTC is for graduates who have successfully completed a law degree or the GDL course and who wish to train as a barrister. MASTER OF LAWS (LLM) Our LLMs are designed for and non-law graduates who wish to gain an in-depth understanding of a particular area of law whilst gaining a Master’s level qualification. Students will be able to choose specialist areas of study such as Legal Technology, Corporate Governance, International Human Rights and more.
