UAL has an incredibly diverse estate spanning Central and Greater London and includes a broad range of property types encompassing academic, teaching, research, commercial, social, hospitality, residential and public realm spaces. The property portfolio is made up of 16 academic sites and 13 student residences hubs with buildings ranging from listed historic buildings to new state of the art facilities. This dynamic and diverse mix in one the world’s leading cities gives an exciting and challenging proposition to the UAL Estates department. The Estates department is currently undertaking an unprecedented estate transformation programme. Following the success of UAL’s relocation of Central Saint Martins as the centrepiece of the King’s Cross regeneration scheme, we are proposing over the next 5-7 years to replace over half of the academic estate with some major developments including two buildings in Stratford and Elephant and Castle totalling circa 70,000 sq m. We will increase our portfolio of owned halls of residences by the addition of at least two halls totalling circa 800 beds and continue to maintain and adapt the remainder of the 170,000 sq m estate to meet the needs of the University for decades to come. To support the Major Capital Projects team in realising these ambitious projects, the Estates Department is now seeking to recruit a Senior Project Manager who will have focus on the delivery of the FF&E and Operational aspects of two major capital projects, initially focused on the Stratford campus for London College of Fashion and subsequently the Elephant & Castle campus for London College of Communication.

Primary interventions up to and beyond 2025 will be:

• The creation of new facilities for London College of Communication, London College of Fashion, Camberwell College of Arts, and University Services; parts of Chelsea College of Art will also be upgraded. • A new Students Residence hall has now been delivered at Camberwell College of Arts and opportunities to build further UAL owned or part owned Halls of Residences are being explored, particularly local to academic premises where viable. Means of shortening tenures and providing lower rental accommodation for students will be pursued and the Pastoral and Social Programme activities in residences will be a core part of service delivery. • The creation of a sustainable estate will enable the University to position itself as an influencer in this area for decades to come. The design of new premises will incorporate low energy sustainable operational concepts. • The Facilities Management Services to the Colleges and University Services are tailored to suit the evolving development and rationalisation of the estate. The Services Team maintains the estate ensuring compliance with safety standards. Maintenance is proportionate to the condition and predicted tenure of each building. • In operating, maintaining, rationalising and developing the estate the Student Experience and working environments for staff are of paramount importance. Through effective engagement with end users their needs and priorities are embedded in the strategy. • New facilities will be future proofed for the digital world and appropriate for multi- functional usage for multiple stakeholders. Through research and innovation UAL will strive for world class sustainable facilities.

One of UAL’s key goals is to provide an inspirational environment. This strategic ambition requires the University to have a world-class physical environment and underlying infrastructure that support our students and staff in their academic ambitions and increases our engagement with our wider communities. We will do this by delivering sustainable new environments, with an emphasis on delivering new academic buildings wherever existing facilities are not consistent with our ambitions. This strategic ambition is being realised with capital investment across the 170,000 sqm estate across 16 locations. Significant projects include new and enhanced academic buildings for London College of Communication, London College of Fashion, Wimbledon College of Arts and Camberwell College of Arts. We are also developing our portfolio of UAL owned halls of residence. This major transformational change is exciting and challenging and the role is pivotal in ensuring the University has robust financial measures in place to anticipate and manage risks and ensure value for money. Purpose of Role University of the Arts London (UAL) is undergoing a once in a generation rationalisation and redevelopment of its estate. This major capital programme involves the development of new campuses for two of its world-renowned arts and design colleges. The first phase of this exciting programme, a £200million state-of- the-art campus for London College of Fashion on the Olympic Park in Stratford, is currently under construction and will open its doors to students in 2023. The second part of the programme will see an equally ambitious new building developed at Elephant and Castle for London College of Communication. Both new buildings include highly specialised technical spaces which will require a high level of coordination between assets and building services. Initially focused on the Stratford project, the Senior Project Manager role will form

an important part of the major projects delivery team and will lead in the planning and execution of the delivery of all fixtures, fittings, and equipment into the new campuses as well as having an oversight role of both Building Operational Readiness & Relocation workstreams. The post holder will be required to work closely with UAL and College stakeholders ensure a joined up approach to building FF&E fit out, operational readiness and relocation management. Following successful occupation of the building at Stratford, it is anticipated that the post holder will then focus on the delivery of the same for the Elephant and Castle project. This is an exciting opportunity to work for one of the world foremost specialist educators in the field of arts and design, and to be part of a small in-house team responsible for the delivery of truly world class new buildings.

Duties and Responsibilities Project Management

• To perform a pro-active leadership role, working collaboratively to foster high morale, innovation, cooperation and an ethos of high quality service delivery • To work closely with the Project Management Office, Construction PM and contractors, key UAL and College stakeholders and specialist consultants to develop a detailed plan of work and programmes for all FF&E and Occupation workstreams • Plan, coordinate and facilitate meetings and workshops ensuring that information and requirements are captured and key outputs are delivered in accordance with the programme • To undertake procurement of, and manage external consultants, contractors and suppliers, ensuring that value for money is obtained and that all procurement is carried out in accordance with UAL financial and procurement policies • To develop a clear and concise stakeholder and communications plan to ensure stakeholders are aware of key dates and requirements for input/engagement • Identify and manage risk throughout all workstreams, inputting into the project risk register and escalating where necessary • To ensure that appropriate change management processes are in place to identify, record and obtain approval for essential changes should these be necessary • To prepare and submit regular reports on progress against programme, budget and briefing objectives • To review, monitor and update the PID and Project Execution Plan(s) as necessary

FF&E (Furniture, Fixtures & Equipment) • Work with UAL delivery team, construction Project Managers and Contractors and key Stakeholders, review and approve CDP (Contractor Design Portions) of RIBA5 design (where appropriate so as to manage interfaces ensuring there are no gaps between development partner delivered Fit Out (FO) and UAL delivered FO and FF&E • Identify/confirm design elements requiring additional and/or specialist design or design review may be required and develop plans to complete/refine these elements including procuring specialist design services where appropriate (e.g. areas requiring LEV (Local Exhaust Ventilation), rolling racking, some elements of lighting, AV, bespoke storage e.g. for technical areas. • Lead on the development and implementation of an Asset Auditing and Management Strategy for UAL assets (including IT, Facilities Management, Library/Archive and Catering areas) • Lead on the development, management and delivery all aspects of Furniture, Fixtures and Equipment (FF&E) delivery to include: • Coordination of detailed space planning exercises (where required) based on RIBA4 signed off design, for example technical areas, office areas, to include legacy FF&E overlay combining existing (those assets that will be relocated) and new assets • Plan, coordinate and facilitate working groups to identify FF&E requirements from UAL and LCF stakeholders ensuring that these are captured, assessed and managed • Definition of FF&E supplier packages • Working with the Estates Cost Manager, develop, refine and manage FF&E budget • Develop, define and oversee the procurement strategy of all FF&E packages, including any design services, leading on any competitive procurement processes which may be required to include: • Market research • Writing of any tender documentation • Tender Evaluation • Appointment and implementation of contracts that will be awarded directly by UAL • Manage FF&E selection exercise working with UAL and LCF stakeholders and in accordance with any project defined style/performance specification

• Working with Relocation Specialists, Construction Managers and contractors, plan, manage and oversee the decommissioning, removal and recommissioning of existing assets including specialist kit • Working with Relocation Specialists, Construction Managers and contractors, plan, manage and oversee the delivery and installation of any new FF&E • Work closely with Construction Managers, contractors, UAL Facilities Management, UAL Health & Safety to ensure a joined up approach to FF&E Fit Out, building commissioning and relocation management Relocation Planning & Relocation • Develop an outline relocation strategy and procurement strategy for the relocation of the College from six sites to the new site at Stratford • Undertake the procurement of a dedicated Relocation Specialist including overseeing tender documentation, tender evaluation, appointment and implementation • Working closely with the Relocation Specialists and key stakeholders plan and implement the physical relocation including oversight of the procurement of any removal contracts and any other associated activities UAL & LCF Operational Readiness • Work in close consultation with the Project Delivery Team, Working Groups and appointed contractors to deliver all key outputs, ensuring a coordinated approach to operational readiness • Working with key stakeholders, project manage the implementation of critical service design workstreams to ensure the University is preparing their strategies and procedures ready for business start, identifying gaps and adding them to scope where necessary, working to the timeframes set by the construction programme. Project Management of workstreams including (but not limited to): IT & AV; Health & Safety; Facilities Management; Security; sustainability; Public Realm and site ManCo coordination; Cleaning; Building Maintenance; Deliveries & Post; Fire & Emergency Evacuation; Waste Management • Report progress to the Project Steering Board, identifying departments with issues and enabling roadblocks to be identified and removed
