In order to ensure we can meet the demands of any challenges faced; we have created a new role to enhance the team. The Business Resilience Manager is a leadership role that will play a pivotal part in leading our strategic approach to security and business resilience and add value to our campus experience.'

The

post-holder will co-ordinate the business continuity and operational resilience support

for Campus Services, supporting wider relevant groups across the University in developing and implementing polices, guid - ance, training and communications in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders. The job will require the individual to work across all University services to identify and co-ordinate solutions for immediate implementation. • Act as the Campus Services champion for promoting and advising on business continuity, incident and crisis management. Help lead the development, co-ordination, and embedment of business continuity practices across the University. • Act as a Deputy to the Head of Security and Emergency Planning (HSEP). • Be the subject matter expert on business continuity, major incident planning strategy and emergency plans; advising and supporting managers. • Act as the day to day operational lead for emergency planning, testing and the training within Campus Services.

School and the first Faculty of Commerce. The University offered the first ever sport degree in 1946 and became the first University to open a secondary school in 2015. In 2018, we also opened a new campus in Dubai, the first Russell Group University to do so. As well as being the competition venue for squash and hockey, the University of Birmingham is also likely to be an important training venue, including use of the University’s 50m pool and 8-lane athletics track. The University has established a Steering Group to plan its contribution to and benefit from the 2022 Games. The strategic sub-groups include Venues & Sport; Student Experience; Research; Profile and Communications; Culture; Commercial and Business Engagement. The University’s Venues Operations Group includes relevant functional leads within the University, and is led by the Director of Sport. It includes Sport, Estates, Security, Catering, Cleaning, Sustainability, The Guild of Students and IT Services.

December 2017, Birmingham was officially declared host for the 2022 Commonwealth Games.

The University of Birmingham is the principal village for athletes and officials for the Birmingham 2022 Games with the Vale Student Accommodation Village hosting 2,800 athletes and officials across the 12-day event. The Games provide an opportunity to showcase the University’s significant strengths to an international audience The Games are scheduled to take place between 27th July and 7th August, with the following venues and sports/disciplines:

a function of c.950 staff with a turnover of over £59 million, the Campus Services portfolio includes the University’s 5,000-bed student residential villages, sporting facilities, retail and food outlets, a new on-campus hotel and conference centre and 3 day nurseries. A number of campus-wide services fall under the remit of Campus Services including: cleaning, security and emergency planning, portering, post, visitor services, transport, waste disposal and recycling. The division also has responsibility for managing conferencing and events, and managing many of the University’s attractions such as Winterbourne House and Garden. Campus Services are proud to deliver service excellence, identifying innovative and sector-leading opportunities for income generation in alignment with the University’s 2030 strategy framework.

Security and Emergency Planning – Campus Services. Our business is the safety and security of our people, assets, and operations enabling the University mission of “making important things happen” Our team operates every day around the clock to ensure our campus is safe and secure. The University has many characteristics of a small town with 43,000 people studying, researching, socialising, and working. Our Birmingham Campus is open and accessible whenever our people need it, with our Security teams working behind the scenes to make this a safe and enjoyable environment. Personal safety is at the core of our business planning. We will work proactively with our key stakeholders to ensure we are “match fit” and prepared for any threat or emergency that may cause potential disruption to our services. • Develop and implement a training programme for key stakeholders involved in the delivery of the BCRM and EP programmes and ensure awareness campaigns are in place to ensure staff are kept up to date with plans, legislation and threat levels.
