The girls have been working with the newsletter since the very first copy and have been tremendous helpers each and every month. I will still be writing my front-page article as well as overseeing the development of the newsletter, but I will not need to do all of the other tasks necessary to get it out the door and in the mail each month. We dodged another hurricane bullet when Isaias decided to take a stroll up the Atlantic Coast of Florida while staying just far enough away. Unfortunately, the same can NOT be said for North Carolina and the Northeastern United States, which received more rain and damage than we did. As I have said many times, our good fortune is someone else’s misfortune, and this just proved it again. The weather prognosticators have revised their forecast for the rest of the season, and it is shaping up to be a busy one. Please make sure you have a plan and that your flood insurance is in place. This is one time I really and truly hope they are wrong. As I mentioned above, Melanie and I are now starting a new chapter in our lives as empty

nesters. Both of the girls have left for college and are living on campus. Each of them has multiple in-person classes, as well as at least one virtual class — hence why they are on campus. It will be a different feel from what we expected, but let’s hope this only lasts for the fall semester and that the spring semester will be the traditional college experience for both of them. Live professional sports are back on TV — finally! It’s different not seeing fans in the stands, but it sure is great to watch live sports and cheer for our home teams again. Hopefully, the NFL gets to play this fall with all of the new additions to the Buccaneers. It will be fun to watch them with chances to win each and every week. Let’s go Rays, Lightning, and Bucs!

But before you jump in your RV, camper, or motor home, make sure you’ve got the right insurance coverage for it. These vehicles are more than just a car, so they need more than just your average policy. RVs are large and pose a higher risk for accidents, so standard auto insurance often won’t provide the full line of coverage needed. Auto insurance also doesn’t cover all the possessions you keep in your RV, like clothes, electronics, and sporting goods. Generally, homeowners insurance will also exclude these items when they’re away from the house, so RV insurance is meant to cover you if something happens to your motor home and its belongings. The two key considerations when choosing the insurance that’s right for your RV are vehicle class and policy types. Visit popular coupon websites like RetailMeNot and Groupon, or streamline your search by downloading a money- saving browser extension or app like Honey, which automatically checks for coupon codes and offers price comparisons. Other apps, like Flipp, let you view deals from dozens of stores in one place. Remember to see if your favorite store has its own app, too — downloading it could grant you access to exclusive deals. 3. Don’t forget to factor in shipping. If you shop internationally, shipping can sometimes double the cost of an order. To save money, choose domestic retailers and check each website or app for shipping specials and discounts. Many websites offer free or reduced shipping for first-time customers or orders over a certain dollar amount. If you choose to shop somewhere without such a discount, check the shipping costs and factor them into your budget before you shop to avoid nasty surprises. If your kids are old enough, consider talking them through this process as you shop. Who knows, this could be a great back-to-school lesson in budgeting!

It’s not as easy to focus on homework when TikTok, YouTube, and all sorts of video games beckon. EDUHAM What better way to learn about the history of our nation than through one of the nation’s most popular musicals? “Hamilton” creator Lin-Manuel Miranda launched this learning platform in 2016 along with the show’s director and in partnership with The Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History. EduHam is a free digital program for students and their families that provides history lessons on the Founding Era of the United States. It also brings art into the mix — Miranda shows students how to create their own performance pieces based on primary source documents, which they can then share in the app. The program is geared toward students in sixth through 12th grade, though everyone is welcome to participate. FIVEABLE For high school students, the most looming challenges include the SAT and Advanced Placement (AP) exams that are so important for college. Enter Fiveable, the amazing free resource that houses thousands of livestreams, study guides, trivia games, and other resources for 15 AP subjects. Bacon and Egg Breakfast Pizza

Whip it up at breakfast or any time of day, really — it’s never too early or too late for pizza.

• 1 package premade pizza dough • 2 tbsp olive oil, divided • 6 eggs • 2 tbsp water Ingredients

• 4 slices bacon, cooked and crumbled • 2 cups cheese of your choice, shredded

Directions

1. Preheat oven to 400 F. Grease a 15x10x1-inch pan. Spread the dough evenly over the bottomof the pan and 1/2 inch up the sides. Prick it with a fork and brush with 1 tbsp oil. Bake until lightly browned, about 7–8 minutes. 2. In a nonstick skillet, heat the remaining oil onmedium. In a bowl, whisk the eggs and water together. Add the mixture to the skillet and stir until thickened and no liquid egg remains. 3. Add the egg to the baked crust in an even layer. Sprinkle on the bacon and cheese, then bake 5–7 more minutes before serving.
