Vincent VanDuysen (1962) is one of Belgium’smost acclaimed architects, interior designers, and product designers. After studying architecture at Sint-Lucas in Ghent, he gained a few years’ experience with major players such as Aldo Civuc and Jean de Meulder. In 1990, he launched his own studio in Antwerp, where today, a team of more than 20 architects and designers helps to promote his vision. A vision that stems from an unbridled curiosity, focussing on the creation of an all- embracing atmosphere. Glasses that are vaguely reminiscent of chalices, and carafes of different sizes that make any bottle on the table superfluous. With the porcelain tableware, countless visual effects can be created by stacking or by playing with the contrasting white and black exterior colours. The cutlery and wooden accessories also follow the blueprint Vincent Van Duysen had in mind for Passe-partout: no-nonsense, a tad nostalgic, while at thesame timevery contemporary.

When working on the August project, a former Augustinian convent in Antwerp that Vincent Van Duysen transformed into a hotel and restaurant, he met with the Serax team to discuss the production of the hotel tableware. They immediately saw eye to eye. The collaboration resulted in an extensive collection for both professional and home use. Vincent Van Duysen: “The name Passe-partout actually says it all: this collection fits everywhere, in every setting. ”The past is reflected inmany aspects of this collection.
