About WCN Wisconsin Christian News represents a cooper- ative effort by active Christians from all walks of life. In our pages and on our website, you will find Infor- mation, Education and Inspiration, with a majority of the articles written by members of our “WCN Fam- ily” of contributors. There is something of interest to every member of the family. We hope you are blessed and become a regular reader. WCN seeks, at all times, to publish the TRUTH, regardless of “political correctness,” standing up for America’s historical Christian heritage and urging a return to biblical, moral standards. We offer very thought-provoking commentary, inspired teach- ing, real life testimonies, world, national, state and regional news, plus advice and information from experts in their areas of business and ministry -- all in the various sections of our 48-page newspa- per. In addition to providing valuable content to the Christian community, we focus equally on reach- ing those who are lost and seeking, and those who may have been alienated from church as an institution in the past. You’ll find WCN on the racks in the lobbies of grocery stores, family restaurants, shopping centers and malls and most Christian book stores. Of course, you can also find a copy at many of our “Ministry Partner” advertisers’ business and ministry locations. This is our outreach to the mar- ketplace, and we receive many wonderful testi- monies from people who have found the Lord for the first time, or returned to Him, after many years away, after finding our newspaper in a public place. Our Doctrinal Statement • There is one God, who is infinitely perfect, existing eternally as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. • Jesus Christ is true God and true man. He was

• The Church consists of all those who believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, are redeemed through His blood, and are born again of the Holy Spirit. Christ is the Head of the Body, the Church, which has been commissioned by Him to go into all the world as a witness, preaching the gospel to all na- tions. The local church is a body of believers in Christ who are joined together for the worship of God, for edification through the Word of God, for prayer, fellowship, the proclamation of the gospel, and observance of the ordinances of baptism and the Lord’s Supper. • There shall be a bodily resurrection of the just and of the unjust; for the former, a resurrection unto life; for the latter, a resurrection unto judgment. • The second coming of the Lord Jesus Christ is imminent and will be personal, visible, and pre-mil- lennial. This is the believer’s blessed hope and is a vital truth which is an incentive to holy living and faithful service. conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. He died upon the cross, the just for the unjust, as a substitutionary sacrifice, and all who believe in Him are justified on the grounds of His shed blood. He died, was buried and arose from the dead ac- cording to the Scriptures. He is now at the right hand of the Majesty on high as our great High Priest. He will come again to establish His kingdom of right- eousness and peace. • The Holy Spirit is sent to indwell, guide, teach, empower the believer, and convince the world of sin, of righteousness and of judgment. • The Old and New Testaments, inerrant as origi- nally given, were verbally inspired by God and are a complete revelation of His will for the salvation of men. They constitute the divine and only rule of Christian faith and practice. • Man was originally created in the image and like- ness of God; he fell through disobedience, incurring, thereby, both physical and spiritual death. All men are born with a sinful nature, are separated from the love of God, and can be saved only through the atoning work of the Lord Jesus Christ. • Salvation has been made available through Jesus Christ for all men; those who repent and be- lieve in Him are born again of the Holy Spirit, receive the gift of eternal life, and become the children of God. • It is the will of God that each believer should be filled with the Holy Spirit and be sanctified wholly, being separated from sin and the world and fully dedicated to the will of God, thereby receiving power for holy living and effective service. This is both a crisis and a progressive experience wrought in the life of the believer subsequent to conversion. • Provision is made in the redemptive work of the Lord Jesus Christ for the healing of the mor- tal body. Prayer for the sick and anointing with oil are taught in the Scriptures and are privileges for the church in the present age.

We Were Warned. We Didn’t Listen.

got that done too). “Infiltrate the churches and replace revealed religion with ‘social’ religion. Discredit the Bible and emphasize the need for intellectual maturity.” (Done). “Eliminate prayer or any phase of religious expression in the schools.” (As we’ve seen, that one was checked off the list that very year). “Dis- credit the American Constitution by call- ing it inadequate, old-fashioned, out of step with modern needs, a hindrance to cooperation between nations on a world- wide basis.” (Done). “Discredit the American founding fa- thers. Present them as selfish aristo- crats who had no concern for the common man.” (Done). “Support any so- cialist movement to give centralized con- trol over any part of the culture, education, social agencies, welfare pro- grams, mental health clinics, etc.” (Done). “Infiltrate and gain control of big business.” (Done). “Transfer some of the powers of arrest from the police to so- cial agencies.” (Done). “Discredit the family as an institution. Encourage promiscuity and easy divorce.” (Done). “Emphasize the need to raise children away from the ‘negative influence’ of parents.” (Done). Believe it or not, the Communists ac- complished pretty much every one of their goals, which were designed to de- stroy America from within. And they did it so slowly and so stealthily that no- body really noticed. Those who did and sounded a warning were shouted down as crazy conspiracy theorists and fanat- ics. So here we are, today, scratching our heads and wondering what in the world happened to the country we grew up in. We were warned. Nobody lis- tened. Continued on Page 7

We were warned, but nobody lis- tened. I’m referring to the warning about how nefarious forces have been planning America’s demise for many decades now. Specifically, how our once-great nation, founded on Godly principles by Godly men and women seeking true freedom and liberty would eventually be destroyed from within — by Communism. In 1958, W. Cleon Sk- ousen, a former FBI employee, pub- lished a book titled “The Naked Communist.” Five years later, in Janu- ary of 1963, Albert ‘Syd’ Herlong — a member of the House of Representa- tives from Florida — and a Democrat — stood before Congress and listed the “45 Current Communist Goals,” which were entered into the official Congressional Record. What was going on in America in Jan- uary of 1963? Well, just six months earlier, the Supreme Court had ren- dered it’s decision that prayer in public schools would be outlawed. In June of ‘63, the Supreme Court proclaimed that Bible reading in public schools should be done away with also. Of course, there was some pushback from this, but American Christianity had already started to lose much of it’s influence, and with the Johnson Amendment en- tering into the tax code nine years prior, many pastors were already beginning to tuck their tails between their legs and remain silent on all things that might be construed as “political,” as the weaponizing of the IRS had begun. World War II was still a fairly recent event, having ended less than twenty years earlier. And we were still mourn- ing the bloody Korean War, which ended just ten years earlier leaving three mil-

lion people dead — and cold war ten- sions high. We had seen first-hand the brutal effects of Socialism, Commu- nism, Fascism and Marxism. Many were warning that although the wars had ended, we still faced the dangers of creeping Communism in this country. But it seemed absurd to most people because surely America would never fall under the tyranny of such an evil, tyrannical ideology. After all, our mili- tary heroes in uniform had just recently fought, bled and died in foreign lands to put an end to those evil regimes and as- sure that would never happen here. Still, we were warned. Let me share a few of those Communist Goals from 1963, that I believe have been very ef- fectively accomplished. Among them: “Capture one or both of the political par- ties in the United States.” (Done). “Use technical decisions of the courts to weaken basic American institutions by

claiming their activities violate civil rights.” (Done). “Get control of the schools. Use them as transmission belts for socialism and current Communist propaganda. Soften the curriculum. Get control of teachers’ associations. Put the party line in textbooks.” (Done). Also: “Infiltrate the press. Get control of book review assignments, editorial writing, policy-making positions.” (Done). “Gain control of key positions in radio, TV and motion pictures.” (Done). “Elim- inate all laws governing obscenity by calling them ‘censorship’ and a violation of free speech and free press.” (Done). “Break down cultural standards of morality by promoting pornography and obscenity in books, magazines, motion pictures, radio and TV.” (Done). More Communist goals: “Present ho- mosexuality, degeneracy and promiscu- ity as ‘normal, natural and healthy.’” (May have seemed impossible but they

Stay Encouraged!

By Jim Schneider, Executive Director, VCY America May 2022

God’s Word. It is also very necessary to spend time daily with God in prayer, commit- ting your way and circumstances before Him. “In my distress I called upon the LORD, and cried to my God: and He did hear my voice out of His temple, and my cry did enter into His ears.” (II Samuel 22:7). “Evening, and morning, and at noon, will I pray, and cry aloud: and He shall hear my voice.” (Psalm 55:17). “Cast thy burden upon the LORD, and He shall sustain thee: He shall never suffer the righteous to be moved.” (Psalm 55:22). “Call unto Me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.” (Jeremiah 33:3). We can further encourage ourselves in the

How many times have you turned on the news and exclaimed, “Oh my! What next?” In Milwaukee, we’re under a constant bar- rage of escalating violence, record homicide rates, carjackings, reckless driving, drug overdose deaths, family breakups, and abounding lawlessness. This is not isolated to our city alone, but communities across the state and the nation are increasing in disor- der as well. Political leaders are grasping at straws to find the antidote to remedy such troubles but continuously fall short. Further observances from around the na- tion are also troubling. Consider the far-

to throw in the towel and check out of life or Christian ministry. They will stop going to church, stop reading the Word, and stop praying, but that’s the complete opposite of what we must do. In time of great trial and struggle, David turned to the Lord (I Samuel 30:8) seeking God’s wisdom and direction. And ulti- mately, God gave him the victory. The times we live are not easy. The troubles and heartaches compound one on top of another. But like David, we need to encourage ourselves in the Lord. This does not happen easily or without grief. David wailed at the calamity that had taken place, but he recognized his source of strength was in the Lord. In times of struggle and heartache we also must turn to the Lord. It is critically important for us to be in His Word daily. It is there we will find encouragement such as: “The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.” (Psalms 23:1). “The name of the LORD is a strong tower: the righteous run- neth into it, and is safe.” (Proverbs 18:10). “It is of the LORD’s mercies that we are not consumed, be- cause his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness. The LORD is my portion, saith my soul; therefore will I hope in Him. The LORD is good unto them that wait for Him, to the soul that seeketh Him. It is good that a man should both hope and quietly wait for the salvation of the LORD.” (Lamentations 3:22-26). “Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and not be afraid: for the LORD JEHOVAH is my strength and my song; He also is become my salvation.” (Isaiah 12:2). It is critical in this fallen world to encourage yourself daily in

reaching control over individual freedom which has taken place. Additional troubles abound including the war on the unborn, gender fluidity nonsense, classroom indoctrination, inflation (the likes of what many have never seen,) a war on energy, the at- tack on marriage, the putdown of the traditional family, and the scorning of Christian values. The daily barrage of these matters can lead one to discouragement and despair and provoke a de- sire for many to just give up. It is important through these chal- lenging times to stay encouraged! The obvious question is, “How can one stay encouraged amidst all these struggles?” We can learn from the Old Testa- ment character, David. In I Samuel 30, things were not looking good for him. He was being pursued by Saul who wanted to kill him. The city of Ziklag had been burned with fire. The women (their wives) and children were taken captive. The sor- row was so intense, Scripture tells us they “lifted up their voice and wept, until they had no more power to weep.” (I Samuel 30:4) But this is not all that happened; David was greatly distressed. The people turned on David in their grief and spoke of stoning him. This would have been enough for any of us to hightail it out of there, but what was said of David becomes a spiritual les- son we can learn from in this troubling scenario. How did David respond to the escalating troubles? Scripture says, “but David encouraged himself in the LORD his God.” (I Samuel 30:6) Each of us has likely known individuals who blame God for the multiple trials they encounter. Perhaps they have decided

Lord by giving thanks to Him. “Therefore I will give thanks unto thee, O LORD, among the heathen, and I will sing praises unto Thy name.” (II Samuel 22:50). “O give thanks unto the LORD; for He is good; for His mercy endureth forever.” (I Chronicles 16:34). We can encourage ourselves in the Lord as we sing praises to God. “I will sing unto the LORD, because He hath dealt bountifully with me.” (Psalms 13:6). “To the end that my glory may sing praise to thee, and not be silent. O LORD my God, I will give thanks unto thee for ever.” (Psalms 30:12). “Sing unto the LORD; for He hath done excellent things: this is known in all the earth.” (Isaiah 12:5). And, we can encourage ourselves in the Lord by engaging faithfully in a local church that upholds the authority of God’s Word. “I was glad when they said unto me, Let us go into the house of the LORD.” (Psalm 122:1). “Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting on another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.” (Hebrews 10:25). Yes, the times we live in are tough and can be discouraging and overwhelming but learning from David’s difficult times we must stay encouraged in the Lord! VCYAmerica.org

ALL the Governments of Men Obeyed SCOTUS For 49 Years While Preborn Savagely Butchered

By Pastor Matthew Trewhella There has been a news release that the Supreme Court of the United States (SCOTUS) is going to overturn Roe. If this is true, the most important thing

clearly it is the Constitution itself that has supremacy. SCO- TUS and the federal judiciary are not even mentioned. All government officials take an oath to uphold the Con- stitution — Article 6 paragraph 4. They do not take an oath to uphold immoral or unjust court opinions issued by SCO-

or a small group of men. The number one boilerplate question to ask anyone run- ning for public office is, “What do you believe about judicial supremacy?” We must end this blithe compliance to SCO- TUS and the federal judiciary.

to learn from the last 49 years is that this bloodshed should not have

For nearly five decades, not a sin- gle state government in the union in- terposed and checked the lawlessness of the Supreme Court in the face of murder. Seventy million babies have been slaughtered. Under the same blithe compliance, the filth of homosex has been poured out through the Court upon this na- tion. Under this despotism of an oli- garchy, we are only a court opinion away from all being told the govern- ment can put into our bodies what- ever they decree. And all the governments of men will blithely comply. Understand the pro-life, pro-family groups have aided this attack on fed- eralism and promoted the lie of “The

been tolerated by the governments of men. It is an abhorrent crime and de- testable cowardice that all the other governments of men blithely obeyed SCOTUS and allowed the savage butchery of the preborn to go on in their states, their counties, their cities. Their duty from the very beginning was interposition. They should have stopped the murder from taking place back in 1973. Instead, the govern- ments of men hid behind the lie “The court has ruled; all we can do is obey.” Judicial supremacy is a lie. Amer- ica’s founders never expected there

to be a final arbiter of all constitutional questions to which all other branches were to submit. As Thomas Jefferson penned in defiance of judicial supremacy, “The Constitution has erected no such single tribunal.” SCOTUS does not have supremacy over the Constitution. The supremacy clause is Article 6 paragraph 2 and it shows

TUS. It kills me to hear government officials say the Court is now giving them permission to protect the preborn. They never needed their permission to do so — they always pos- sessed the right and duty to protect the preborn. The founders would have found this whole half-century debacle and blithe compliance by the governments of men absolutely intolerable be- cause they viewed

courts have ruled; all we can do is obey.” They have asked the tyrant to give them scraps off their table for decades, all while the preborn were savagely butchered. If Roe is overturned, the politicians will no longer be able to hide behind the skirt of the Court. And people are going to be shocked at how the majority of their GOP politicians behave. Many will demonstrate treachery toward the pre- born by watering down any laws said to protect them. As one friend wrote to me: “We will now see who the true Republicans or pro-lifers are as it will be up to each state to abolish and ban abortion. They will have no excuse now.” Understand, if SCOTUS does overturn Roe, it does not mean that abortion will be illegal everywhere in the United States. It simply means each state must decide laws re- garding abortion. The leaked opinion by SCOTUS states: “We hold that Roe and Casey must be overruled. It is time to heed the Constitution and return the issue of abortion to the people’s elected representatives.” The truth is, it never left the “elected representatives” hands. It is sad we waited on the Court itself to agree that Roe was never constitutional law, nor did we have to wait. Fifty years of disobedient magistrates and Christians have cost many lives. The fiction of judicial supremacy kept so many from protecting human life. Now, no more incremen- talism. Now, we strike down the murder completely. No ex- ceptions. The fight is far from over. America is covered in innocent blood. God’s judgment is just. We are not going to just walk away from this with an evening rally and a latte. Matthew Trewhella is the pastor of Mercy Seat Christian Church ( MercySeat.net ). He and his wife, Clara, have eleven children and reside in the Milwaukee, Wisconsin area. unchecked power in any hands to be intolerable. They pillared for America a true federalism. In a true federalism you have multi- ple levels of government and multiple branches on each level, so that if one branch or branches begins to play the tyrant, another branch or branches would interpose and check that branch or branches. Wisconsin Family Connection Divorce: ‘No Fault Doesn’t Mean No Harm Strengthening, Preserving & Promoting Marriage, Family, Life and Liberty in Wisconsin C OMMENTARY BY J ULAINE A PPLING President, Wisconsin Family Council

May 2022 Divorce has become so prevalent that we often forget how harmful it is to children. Statistically, children with divorced parents suffer in all areas of life. They are more likely to develop behavioral problems, struggle academically, commit crime, live in poverty, abuse drugs and alcohol, experience illness, and suffer from psychological distress. Demographic Research released a study last month that shows that divorce has an even greater impact on children than parental death when it comes to their education.
