CHAMPIONSHIP GOLF history in the making After hosting the 1913 U.S. Women’s Amateur on what is now known as the “Old Course,” Wilmington has hosted five other USGA events, including the 1965 and 1978 U.S. Junior Amateur, the 1971 U.S. Amateur, the 1978 U.S. Girls’ Junior and the 2003 U.S. Mid-Amateur. The club also hosted the 2013 Palmer Cup competition between Europe and a United States team that featured 2019 BMW Championship winner Justin Thomas and Daniel Berger. This year we are proud to play host to the 2022 BMW Championship.

We take great pride in our natural environment as well as our obligation to do all we can to be responsible stewards of this wonderful setting cradled within the pristine and historically famed Delaware Valley. Together with the total dedication to excellence in overall presentation, our Club has pursued a number of significant programs that are dedicated to environmental stewardship.

WORKING ORCHARD

The beginning of our orchard goes back to 1932 featuring over 200 trees with varieties of apples, peaches, pears, plums and nectarines.. Today, we have 75 trees featuring apple, peach and pears, many of which are from the original orchard.

CERTIFIED AUDUBON

Wilmington Country Club has been certified as an Audubon Cooperative Wildlife Sanctuary since 2004 and has successfully grown its program to over 36 Bluebird boxes and 4 Purple Martin Condos.

POLLINATOR GARDEN

Our pollinator garden is designed to provide food and shelter to animals (bees, birds, butterflies, moths, wasps, bats, and small mammals) that pollinate plants and support the local ecosystem.
