The Next Summer Vacation Enjoying the Moment and Planning for the Future

T his month, I’m happy to report that my daughter Isabella has been having a great summer. She wrapped up kindergarten at the end of May. For the past few weeks, she’s been attending a summer day camp that she loves. Like most kids, she’s also really looking forward to celebrating the Fourth of July. We don’t leave town during the Fourth. The lines at the airport are long, and the traffic is too crazy. Instead, we spend the day on the beach and at the pool. There’s always a wonderful fireworks show; and afterwards, we light some sparklers. It’s a good time that always reminds me of what summer vacation felt like when I was a kid myself.

One thing no one ever tells you about being an adult is that summertime becomes less special. Once you’re out of school and in your career, there’s no more “summer” vacation. Sure, summer is a great time to go on vacation, but those long, lazy weeks of sleeping in or playing outside until the street lamps come on are gone forever. When you’re an adult, retirement becomes the new summer vacation. Part of what I enjoy about being a retirement planner is getting to hear about the plans my clients have for their retirement years. They travel all over, move closer to their families, or get active with the charitable causes they care about. It’s a privilege to be a part of helping those goals become a reality. The first part of 2019 has been pretty volatile in terms of the market, but reaching the midway point in the year gives us some energy and focus to take charge of the rest of the year. Going into the second half of 2019, I’ve been thinking about how we can better empower our clients to take control of their futures. I’m really excited to be launching new and complimentary workshops for our clients and their friends. These educational workshops professional before making any investment decision. will focus on presenting updated news and strategies to protect, grow, and save retirees’ money during their retirement years. Everyone has a vision for what his or her retirement life will look like. Knowing how to protect one’s finances is crucial to realizing those retirement dreams. an eye out for updates in upcoming editions of the newsletter, weekly email, or give our office a call and ask to be notified. Unlike when you were a kid, a great retirement takes a bit more planning than summer vacations. By working with so many great clients, I’ve learned that enjoying retirement isn’t always as difficult as people fear. It’s possible to work hard, plan and save for retirement, and still have time to watch fireworks on the beach with your family. If you are interested in attending one of our new educational workshops, keep
