ZERO WASTE PROMOTIONAL PRODUCTS
What is zero waste? Simply put, it’s sending nothing to a landfill. In a zero-waste economy, we reduce what we need, reuse as much as possible, send little to be recycled, and compost the rest. A zero-waste approach redesigns our systems and resource use — from product design to disposal — to prevent wasteful and polluting practices. Zero waste aims to create a circular economy where we ‘ditch the disposables’ and practice more sustainable lifestyles. #refillnotlandfill Promotional products are one of the highest impact marketing mediums and a valuable tool to connect with your clients, employees, and stakeholders and showcase your sustainability commitment. Leveraging your promotional merchandise to educate people about environmental & social issues and enable more sustainable lifestyles is a win-win.
We’ve pulled together a collection of our favorite items to help folks walk the talk, change behaviors and ditch the disposables.

PRODIR Sleek and innovative, PRODIR pens convey a message of sustainability. We’re big fans. They produce their pens in Switzerland and hold true to being sustainable and socially responsible. They carry sustainable, recycled and lead-free writing tools and continuously surprise us with their product. For instance, the above image showcases their shell special-edition pens.
“Body, cap and nose cone of the special-edition model DS5 Shell Metal Clip are made from plastic enriched with 30% recycled used seashells - for example oyster shells from French gourmet restaurants - the remaining 70% come from plastic, half of which has been recycled or regenerated from internal waste.”
40
PRODIR offes their top designed pens (the DS3, DS5, and DS8) in an environmental- ly-friendly combination: the exterior is made from 100% recycled plastic and the interior is made with the revolutionary Floating Ball ® leadfree refill. .
zero waste goals. The 100% recycled body is refillable, made to last many years, and equipped with the only refill on Earth that has a lead-free tip and ink that contains no substances on the Reach SVHC (Substances of Very High Concern) list. We love their attention to detail, design and sustainability.
The plastic is regenerated from their own production waste to help drive their own

AVOID IT Try experiences instead such as photo booths, event tickets, food, movie screenings, repair stations, and more. The options are endless! UP-CYCLE OR REUSE Consider options that don’t require buying new such as decorating water bottles, clothing swaps, zines or book binding from reused paper, or screen printing items students already own.
If Buying New
USEFUL & ETHICAL
If you must purchase new, consider products that students will actually use, are durable, and come from trusted, ethical sources. We recommend checking out some PLAN’s discounts on brands such as To-Go Ware, Klean Kanteen, People Towels, and more.
USEFUL OR ETHICAL We understand you can’t always find affordable useful and ethical swag. At least try to buy one or the other! Useful items can include durable ballpoint pins, carabiners, or sewing kits. There may be other swag options which are less useful but come from ethical sources. We recommend using these options as a last resort. USELESS & QUESTIONABLE Please avoid buying useless swag from questionable retailers. This can include items such as fidget spinners, foam fingers, slap bracelets, and so much more.
