Dear Club Members,

So many exciting things are happening here at Precious Moments headquarters! Since the beginning of Precious Moments in the 1970s, we’ve been striving to make life’s precious moments more memorable. In fact, it is our mission to make the world a kinder place by helping people share the gift of love. Over the years, Precious Moments has become the special gift that thoughtful people choose to celebrate all of life’s unforgettable moments. The artful, handcrafted designs with heartfelt messages, inspired by artist Samuel J. Butcher, honor all of these moments, no matter how large or small they may be. We are proud that the messages behind our gifts put each special moment into words and verses that make us all feel connected and loved. It’s no wonder our gifts have so much meaning for so many people around the world. While all of these things have remained consistent over the past four decades, we do like to keep things fresh and current. For instance, you may notice some subtle updates to our logo, you will see we have given our website a whole new look, and we have made it easier for you to shop online. At the same time, we remain committed to creating great new designs each year that you’ll love to collect and be proud to give. We’re giving you a sneak peek of some of what we’ve been up to on pages 8 & 9. We also want to invite you to join us for our spectacular Mexican Riviera cruise next year! A MESSAGE FROM PRECIOUS MOMENTS CREATOR, SamButcher

My Vision There is a fair city that is covered with gold, and they say that the half has never been told. Great slabs of white marble cover the walls while beautiful peacocks fly through emerald green halls. Lovely French vases trimmed in royal blue, glassy gray stairs that are covered with dew. Graceful elms sway in the warm summer breeze and frame all the maple and evergreen trees. Robins rush through silver meadows that shine like the bells in a church that in unison chime. Canadian geese grace the southern blue skies while great swans of glory are all passing by. Pine trees in great numbers like spirits arise and cast their soft shadows on blue butterflies. This is my vision of Heaven today, a glorious, great, and amazing display. A kingdom where there is no darkness or night where all of God’s children still walk in the light. A kingdom of mansions and ruby red domes, where we will meet Christ in our heavenly home. With love,

As the year comes to a close and I’ve spent the past few months reminiscing on its beauty, I realize how quickly time passes and how important it is for us to appreciate the time while we are still on this Earth. As we grow with grace in the knowledge of the Lord, the Lord helps us mature from our childish ways so that we may live our twilight years in harmony. The apostle Paul in 1 Corinthians 13:11, says, “When I was a child, I talked as a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put the ways of childhood behind me”. I am 80 years old and as the snowflakes cover the years of my past, I now look to the future with great expectation and hope. As a result, I have written the following poem entitled “My Vision”. I trust that it will be a blessing to you. If it’s meaningful in a special way, I would appreciate hearing from you.

For thirty years the Precious Moments Chapel has welcomed people from all over the world. People find themselves here for a myriad of reasons – some by mere happenstance, some hoping to catch a glimpse of Precious Moments creator Samuel J. Butcher, and some seeking a sense of peace. A Chapel Visitor’s Story

Visitor Trina Davis is the latter. She finds herself returning to the Precious Moments Chapel again and again, hooked on the overwhelming peace she feels when walking among the gardens or gazing at the murals. Trina is a busy mom of 8-year old Sammy and wife to her husband, Ron. She is currently studying to be a Christian

counselor, with a focus on treating women – specifically those who have dealt with domestic violence and fertility issues. But even with all of that going on in her life, she and her family still find time to visit the Chapel every few months so they may experience the beauty of the Chapel in each season. Her very first visit to the Chapel was back in the early 90s when she took a trip from her home in Arkansas with her church’s teen group. She was only 14 years old, but from that first visit she was captivated! Throughout her young adulthood, she could always count on a visit to the Chapel to sustain her through troubled times. “The Chapel is my Disney World, it’s the happiest place on Earth,” Trina explains. Even through a divorce she could find peace at the Chapel. “It’s a place where all my problems just disappeared for a while.” Trina would have never guessed that life would bring her to Missouri where she now is able to visit the Chapel whenever the urge strikes. Ron works a quick 10 minutes from the Chapel, so she and Sammy will visit him at work and then head to the Chapel where they frolic with butterflies, imitate the statues, and if no one is around, they will lie down on their backs in the Chapel just so they can look upon the Chapel ceiling with wonder. “I never thought I’d have a child that would

appreciate the Chapel as much as I do, but Sammy loves it!” Trina tells us. “It’s something special we share.” Sammy also thinks a lot about his brother Deacon while he is there. Deacon would have been 6 years old now, but he was brought home to live in eternity with the Father when he was just 6 days old. That is just one more reason the Chapel is so special to Trina. “After we lost Deacon, I was looking at the mural of Hallelujah Square and noticed the

family meeting in Heaven for the first time. I realized that someday that will be us seeing our Deacon again,” Trina shares. Her mother-in-law purchased a signed copy of the Hallelujah Square mural and it now hangs in the room that would have been Deacon’s. If you are planning on making a trip to the Chapel this winter, keep an eye out for Trina and young Sammy. (Christmastime is one of their favorite times to visit because of all the decorations!) She will be the one with a ready smile, while Sammy will likely be striking a pose like one of the statues or searching the bricks to see if there might be one bearing his brother’s name.

The year 2019 has been a year of celebration – a year to commemorate the 30th Anniversary of the Precious Moments Chapel! This year’s annual Family Reunion Event that took place in July proved to be extra special as we were surrounded by the love of our Precious Moments family. Some highlights included: • Keynote address from Matthew Milliner Ph.D., and additional guest speakers Pastor Phillip McClendon, Richard Bliss, and Sandy Higgins. • VIP signings with The Doll Maker, Linda Rick, and Master Sculptor Hiko Maeda. • Entertainment included Willamae, The Duke Mason Band, and Larry Turner and Friends, plus a performance by the Men’s Choir. • Attendees were also witness to a mold breaking and retirement announcement. Ice CreamWith Joy When You’re With Me (162008) will no longer be produced in the same form again. This is the highest honor a figurine can achieve! The details for the 2020 Family Reunion Event will be announced soon. Stay tuned!

Precious Moments Family of Companies, Inc. CEO A NOTE FROM John

Hello Club Members, My first nine months with Precious Moments Family of Companies has been quite a whirlwind! As you can imagine, I’ve been learning the business, meeting customers, getting to know our employees both in Itasca, IL and Carthage, MO, and helping solve our day to day business issues. It’s been both exhausting and fun, and I’m truly happy to be part of a company that is all about love, kindness, inspiration, family, sharing, and preserving the best moments of our lives. Precious Moments is that special constant in our busy, hectic, rapidly changing world. So, what do the next six months look like? Well, for Precious Moments to remain healthy, we must seek out new markets and audiences, introducing even more people to what we know is a pretty special brand. Collectively, our team spends much of its time doing just that. So, there are three key things I’m focused on. The first is managing the “channel shift” going on in the marketplace. I’m sure you all have noticed the continuing transition from traditional brick & mortar retailers to the internet. How to best navigate this dynamic marketplace keeps us on our toes. Second, the team is working on getting better at how we present our products directly to you through www.PreciousMoments.com and our catalogs. The digital and print marketing world changes rapidly, and we must constantly step up our game to be successful in giving you the top-notch experience you’ve come to expect. Third, product innovation is another key to our company’s future. Club Members like you appreciate the Precious Moments history, but also enjoy new ideas, so we diligently work to keep our products fresh and new, so they delight you! My job is to successfully lead our team in managing our channel shift dynamics, improving in our direct marketing effort, and driving product innovation. If we do those three things well, we will ensure the Precious Moments brand is vital and strong for many years to come so that we may continue to Share the Gift of Love!

How Do You Share Your Love of Precious Moments? Show Us Your Precious Moments!

At Precious Moments, we encourage one and all to Share the Gift of Love. We also really love to hear how you personally share the love of Precious Moments. Club Member Kathie Vonhof shared her story, and it was randomly selected as the winning entry in our 2019 Share The Gift Of Love Giveaway. She received the Limited Edition figurine Caught In The Current Of Love – a $159.99 value!

Kathie shared: “I have been a member of the Precious Moments Collectors’ Club since 1983. Over the years I have purchased or received approximately 300 figurines plus some dolls and other decorative items. They are on shelves, in special cabinets, and on counters in every room of our house. The walls of our home are decorated with 75 framed, counted cross-stitch Precious Moments designs. When guests come into our home, we always receive comments about the collection and are able to share something about it. My husband, John, and I have been to the Precious Moments Chapel three times and loved every visit. Every time is like the first exciting time seeing the paintings and figurines. Walking through the Gift Shoppe is fun as we decide which ones to take home.

In 2002, I began making wooden hand-painted outdoor Christmas decorations for our own personal enjoyment, starting with Mary holding Baby Jesus, Joseph, a dog dressed as a sheep, and an angel standing on a stool. The following years I added more figures and we now have over 57 cutouts that extend onto our roof, chimney, and our neighbor’s yard. It’s fun figuring out where to place the cutouts so they can all be seen. It takes two days to place them and add all the lights. We enjoy seeing the cars drive by at night and the people looking at our display and taking photos. The CaliforniaChristmasLights.com website lists our display with several photos. We don’t have any moving parts or flashing lights because we want it to be a passive display with a calming mood for the celebration of our Lord’s birth. As a Precious Moments collector and lover, this is a way to spread God’s Word to our neighborhood and community, and to wish all a very Merry Christmas.”
