We’re looking forward to two and a half days of classes with a great lineup of speakers again this year! We know that many of you depend on NADOA’s Annual Institute to help accumulate the credits you need for your CDOA recertification. Historically, the CDOA Committee has graciously awarded 8 credits for 6 hours of education at an annual institute; and that will be the case once again this year. It really is a great value for each CDOA in attendance! The Program Committee has done its best to schedule those 6 hours on Thursday and Friday as Institute Program Schedule

optimally as possible with breaks and allowing attendees time to travel after the Institute concludes on Friday. Don’t forget that in order to obtain all credits for Thursday and Friday, you must attend all sessions which will conclude at 3:40 PM on Friday. You’ll also want to stick around for our Closing Session which is scheduled from 3:45-4:30 for one last chance to win a door prize! We hope you’ll enjoy our speaker lineup, and we’ll see you in Fort Worth!

NADOA 2019 Institute Speakers

SUSAN S. BREWER Steptoe & Johnson, PLLC

PAMELA WENTZ National Practice Leader, Unclaimed Property Consulting, Georgeson LLC

Thursday’s lunch features a keynote address by Susan Brewer on the topic of leadership. With more than 100 litigation cases under her belt, Ms. Brewer is known to motivate with great advice and examples on bringing up young leaders in today’s workplace. This is a presentation you won’t want to miss. ELI MURRAY Landman, Concho Resources Wednesday’s schedule includes three of Eli Murray’s expert, in-depth presentations on calculations, namely, “Building a DOI,” “Calculations” and “Payouts/Carried Working Interests.” As a returning speaker from 2018, we are fortunate to benefit from her experience as a Landman, directly relating and explaining calculations to the Analyst’s everyday work. Ms. Orlowski is returning to Institute with presentations on “How to Review a Title Opinion” and “Oklahoma Law and Transfer on Death Deeds.” An attorney and instructor since 1978, Faith is recognized for her expertise and highly personable presentation skills. STEPHANIE HINES, JD, CPLTA Assistant Professor of Energy Land Management, West Virginia University “Record Title versus Ancestry.com and Other Searches” is the topic Stephanie Hines brings to the fore. If you spend significant time reviewing records online, make plans to attend her class and return a more skillful online researcher. ANDREW GRAHAM Attorney, Steptoe & Johnson, PLLC With presentations that are critical to the work of the Division Order Analyst, Andrew Graham effectively shares valuable insight and key information. The topics of “Post- Production Costs” and the “Joint Operating Agreement” are given for your consideration. Discover recent court cases that affect how companies manage post-production clauses and which clauses in the JOA are key to your role in the industry. D. FAITH ORLOWSKI Attorney, Moyers Martin, LLP

We are pleased to have Pamela Wentz return once again to host three separate Escheat sessions on Wednesday. Get unclaimed property updates in her series of Unclaimed Property – Drilling into the Details topics: “State Enforcement Efforts in the Oil and Gas Industry,” “Unclaimed Property Reporting – Dealing with Difficult State Laws” and finally, “Drilling Into Your Unclaimed Property Policy and Procedures.” GRAHAM SMITH Senior Attorney, Mazurek, Belden & Burke PC Mr. Smith previously served as Assistant DA in Bexar County, Texas and will be presenting on “Royalty Payment Issues with Allocation Wells”, a hot topic for states where this specific type of well is being drilled. KACIE BEVERS Attorney, Steptoe & Johnson, PLLC A must-see presentation is the best description when Kacie Bevers presents at Institute. Two separate topics are covered this year, “Texas Trusts, Wills and Probate” and “Consents to Assign.” Dissect these topics relating to the everyday work of the Analyst. GREG WHITING Vice President of Accounting and Regulatory, CIMA ENERGY LP The effects of Natural Gas Liquids exports on our industry are complicated even to the savvy investor. Mr. Whiting’s presentation will look at the possibilities of a large percentage of the gas industry’s future. GARY JOSEPH, MBA, CIA Senior Manager, Keane Unclaimed Property requirements should be considered in the Acquisition and Divestiture process. If you regularly handle A&D or Unclaimed Property, you will appreciate the key points that Gary Joseph will share in this timely course.
