Meet the CFO Please give a warm welcome to Scott Quehl, our new Chief Financial Officer. Starting as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Honduras, Scott quickly felt a calling towards making the world a better place. His focus on causes greater than himself was also attributed to motivation from his sister from a young age. With over 25 years of experience, Scott has served in a variety of roles, including Chief Financial Officer, Assistant Secretary for Administration under President Obama, and Principal Director, Strategy. In all of these positions, Scott identified the common thread of supporting mission-based organizations by providing them with better finance strategies. Scott cites Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory as a new phase of his life and expresses how excited he is to join the Lab. The more time he spends here and the more people he meets, the more energized he feels. As an enthusiastic painter, he also connects to the campus’s beautiful scenery. He has spent the last few weeks reading up on the history of Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory and is continually shocked by its impact to the scientific community. Outside of work, Scott is a proud father to his 19-year-old son, who aspires to be an opera singer. Scott also owns a 220-year-old farm in the Catskill Mountains that he says started as a “haunted house”. This farm is now a hub for artistic expression and fruitful harvests of apples and pears.

Please add [email protected] to your contacts. The emails from [email protected] contain legitimate and important communications from the Department and are not spam. Glacier Tax Prep (GTP) Software The Glacier Tax Prep (GTP) software is available for use. GTP is a web-based tax return preparation system designed exclusively for foreign students and scholars who are non- resident aliens to aid in preparing U.S. federal income tax forms, including forms 1040-NR, 8843, and W-7. If you do not have a Social Security Number and received non-employment income (such as a scholarship, grant, fellowship, or stipend), GTP will also generate Form W-7; this form is an application for an Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN), and is sent with your other federal tax forms. GTP is designed primarily for use by foreign students, post docs, and visiting scholars who are in F-1 or J-1 status. However, other individuals may also be able to use the program, depending on their individual circumstances. Foreign students and employees of CSHL do not have to pay a fee to access GTP to complete their U.S. federal tax return. If you wish to use GLACIER Tax Prep to complete your 2021 federal tax return, please contact Victoria Panebianco at [email protected] for your individual access code and instructions on how to access GTP .
