Do PT Newsletters Still Work in 2020?
who already know your brand for best results.
Putting together a monthly newsletter for your PT practice can be a challenging task and take up a lot of time and money. Plus, there’s the question I’ve heard a thousand times. Does Print Marketing work in our modern, digital world? The short answer is: yes , direct- mail newsletters will help fill your schedule if used correctly. Many PT Clinics avoid direct mail because it “feels” expensive or because it’s “antiquated.” But check out these stats:
• The same study found that 75% of patients remember a brand name with direct mail and digital marketing versus just 44% with digital alone* • Direct mail is 21% easier to understand and remember than digital media* So although it’s not the cool kid on the block anymore, there is a wealth of science proving the benefits of print media even today.
WHAT ABOUT COST? It is up to 10x cheaper to get a patient back than find a new one. So as stated above, if you focus newsletters on reactivating patients you should easily make your money back and more! And you don’t even have to mail to your full list to see results! You can start within your budget and increase later. We recommend focusing on patients from the last 3-5 years and removing bad addresses or any that are outside your local zip codes.
WHERE DO NEWSLETTERS WORK BEST?
• Direct Mail reaches 95% of targeted patients
This is the area a lot of clinics get wrong. Newsletter marketing may not be the best way to get NEW patients, but it is still the #1 way to get your past patients returning & referring others. Focus your newsletter efforts on people
HOW DO I KNOW IF IT WORKS FOR ME?
• Printed mail is more likely to change people’s behavior than digital, according to a recent Neuroscience study by Canada Post called “A Bias For Action”
Make a plan before starting. Follow the best practices in our complete newsletter guide below before sending your first copy. Then, commit to send newsletters for at least 6-12 months and track how many REACTIVATED patients you have each month. Over time, you’ll be able to see if starting newsletters has caused that number to trend upwards.

“... To People With A Specific Interest In The Organization” This is a key point - newsletters aren’t the best method for marketing to people who have never heard of you. Instead, Newsletters & direct-mail should primarily be used to increase your revenue from current & past clients. And because getting patients back is up to 10X cheaper than finding new ones, a newsletter is an excellent investment as part of a greater marketing plan. Leverage the gold mine that is your patient list, you’ll be glad you did! I started back a G3 this week for a pain in my left sciatic I’ve had since my surgery, assumed it was nerve damage due to severity of my condition at time of surgery. I’ve been running and boxing and feeling great except for that nagging pain. Johnnie “evaled” me and tried Hypervolt. I kid you not, it took all the pain away, like within a couple hours it was gone! I’ll continue treatments through February but the first thing I did was buy a Hypervolt gun from you. Once again, G3 has come to the resc e and provided pain relief and strength going forward. You have helped so many people. When I bump into someone out in the community with a G3 shirt on I always stop and say “hi” and talk about how great G3 is. Occupational therapy tends to focus more closely on hand, elbow, and wrist pain relief. Some common conditions we treat with OT, through our specialized hand therapy services, include: • Carpal tunnel syndrome • Arthritis • Burns • Nerve injuries • Fractures • Tendinitis • Chronic conditions • Stroke HOW DO I KNOW IF I SHOULD SEE AN OCCUPATIONAL THERAPIST? Occupational therapy is more than just addressing an injury. Our dedicated therapists focus on the functional needs of each patient by implementing certain exercises and activities that promote physical and psychological well-being. The American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA) also states that in addition to dealing with an individual’s physical well-being, occupational therapy practitioners address psychological, social, and environmental factors that may hinder an individual’s functioning in different ways. For example, occupational therapy for a young patient may include using a special tool to make cupcakes at home. If an adaptation to a utensil needs to be fashioned, an occupational therapist will do it. This unique approach makes occupational therapy a vital part of health care for patients. People feel better emotionally when they can comfortably engage in their hobbies and everyday activities. If you or someone you know could benefit from occupational therapy, call Professional Care PT East Patchogue at 631.775.0971 to schedule your consultation today! CELEBRAT I NG 11 YEARS ! At the end of the day, the best way to be free of neck pain is to prevent neck pain fromdeveloping, andworkingwith a physical therapist can help you in this regard, as well. The tasks that you do every day can build up over time and cause a lot of stress on your body, and the neck and shoulders are some of the most common places to carry that stress. Youmay not even realize the impact that simple tasks that you do every day have on your body and your experience of pain. Things like driving, lifting heavy objects — like packages at the front door or even your groceries — and repetitive movements like hunching over a keyboard at work can all seriously impact your neck pain. The longer you let neck pain linger and disrupt your life, themore difficult it becomes to treat. If you experience an injury, the smart thing to do is to consult a physical therapist soon after the pain develops.
Do you notice your muscles feeling painful or achy throughout the day? Are you recovering from a recent injury or surgical procedure? Are you living with a chronic condition that causes constant discomfort? Whatever the case may be, occupational therapy can help improve your health. If you are experiencing discomfort, contact Professional Care Physical Therapy & Rehabilitation today for more information. WHAT CONDITIONS ARE TREATED BY AN OCCUPATIONAL THERAPIST VS. A PHYSICAL THERAPIST? Whether you’re receiving physical therapy treatments, occupational therapy treatments, or a combination of both, the natural, conservative care of a PT clinic is one of the most effective ways to treat pain and injury. In fact, according to the American Physical Therapy Association, conservative treatments have worked even better than surgical treatments for the correction of certain conditions, such as carpal tunnel syndrome.

“Dr. Ippolito is a personable, kind and caring physician who always wants to get to the bottom of your condition. He goes above and beyond and treats his patient’s individual needs based upon their symptoms not just what science indicates it could be. I have seen many physicians throughout my life while battling my arthritis condition, and I was never referred to occupational therapy. Dr. Ippolito listened to me and referred me directly to Amanda Paracat of ProCare Occupational Therapy & Physical Therapy, knowing the success his other patients have had with her. I can honestly say that my therapy treatments with Amanda have been life-changing and my day-to-day routines have improved dramatically, all thanks to Amanda and Dr. Ippolito!”
Like many, Catherine Morahan has suffered arthritis in her hands for a very long time. Unfortunately, Catherine has been dealingwith her painful condition for most of her life, beginning in her teenage years. Over time, her condition worsened, and Catherine’s fingers became more swollen, painful and one of them becoming completely frozen, rendering it un-useful. She sought help from various physicians who tried different methods of care, including prescription medications which at times provided relief, but did not provide the successful mobility that she needed. Surprisingly, Catherine was never prescribed occupational therapy rehabilitation for her condition, until she began her care with Stony Brook Rheumatologist, Dr. John Ippolito.
Knowing that some of his patients have had success with their occupational therapy treatments, Dr. Ippolito suggested that Catherine visit ProCare’s Occupational Therapist and Certified Hand Therapist, Mrs. Amanda Paracat. After Catherine’s evaluation, she was provided with a customized plan of care to not only help relieve her pain but to provide flexibility, mobility and overall better quality of life. Because of her hard work and determination towards her rehabilitation and her willingness to re-learn how to properly use her hands, we are happy to say that Catherine’s day-to-day activities are no longer limited by her condition.
Physical therapy treatments and occupational therapy treatments cover a wide range of conditions, and sometimes they even overlap. However, physical therapy is used to treat orthopedic, neurological, and autoimmune deficiencies, while occupational typically focuses solely around orthopedics. Exercise Essentials FIGHT SPRING ALLERGENS WITH THESE SIMPLE TIPS! 1. Limit your time outdoors. Each spring, trees release billions of tiny pollen grains into the air. When you breathe them into your nose and lungs, they can trigger an allergic reaction. Staying inside can help, especially on windy days and during the early morning hours, when pollen counts are highest. Check out more reviews onGoogle by searching “Physical Therapy Of Melissa.”

1) KNOW YOUR AUDIENCE Your audience consists of more than just one group. It’s important to create practice newsletters that appeal to: • Current Patients • Past Patients • Physicians • Healthcare Networks & Partners For current & past patients, the key is not to let them forget about you. Encourage them to take action when a condition flares up & not just live with aches & pains. You should also provide an easy referral method to increase word-of-mouth. Call Today! (972) 837-4450 www.simpleset.net 2. Tweak your home. Simple changes make a difference. Shut all windows to keep out pollen. Use an air conditioner to cool your home instead of a fan, which draws in air fromoutside. Take offyour shoes at the door and ask guests to do the same. That keeps allergens outside. Finally, don’t allow guests, or yourself, to smoke inside the home. It can make allergy symptoms worse. If you or someone you live with smokes, now is a good time to quit. 1. For physicians, the key is creating a lasting impression. Your expertise needs to be obvious and valuable. Use content that would be so helpful, they’re willing to have copies in their waiting rooms. The same goes for health or fitness type partnerships. Maintain a professional brand & impressive print quality so they feel good about having their newsletter advertising in their business. And make sure the content is something that helps their audience without competing with their business. Always consult your physical therapist or physician before starting exercises you are unsure of doing. 2) PROVIDE VALUABLE CONTENT I’ve already said how your content’s quality makes an impact on different audiences, but what TYPES of content should you include? Here are some examples: • Stories. Patient successes, therapist spotlights, specific techniques or equipment that makes you stand out from competitors, upcoming events... all of these allow you to tell interesting, educational stories. Instructions In a small bowl, mix together olive oil, cilantro, and 1/3 of the lime juice. Season with salt and pepper. Add shrimp to a baking dish and pour over mixture. Toss until completely coated and let marinate 20 minutes. Meanwhile, make slaw: In a large bowl, toss cabbage with mayo, remaining lime juice and sriracha. Season with salt. Heat grill to high. Skewer shrimp and grill until charred, 3 minutes per side. Grill tortillas until charred, 1 minute per side. Serve shrimp in tortillas with slaw. www.simpleset.net
