ABOUT SWANSEA UNIVERSITY

The University has been at the cutting edge of research and innovation since its inception in 1920 and our world-class research has a much wider impact across the health, wealth, culture, and well-being of our society. We lead Wales in research areas critical to economic growth and population well-being including environmental sciences, medicine and social work. The University will celebrate its Centenary on July 19th 2020 and celebrates accolades such as the Gold award in the Teaching Excellence Framework (2018), and a 5 star rating for teaching quality from the QS Stars global university rating system. We are in the Top 10 in the UK for student satisfaction (NSS 2020), the UK top 15 for Career Prospects (Complete University Guide 2020) and are incredibly proud of being the UK University of the Year (WhatUni Student Choice Awards 2019). We are a leading, sustainable university with ambitions to help drive forward sustainable development both in the UK and further afield and are currently ranked 9th in the Guardian University Green League. Swansea University spans two stunning campuses at each end of Swansea’s waterfront. Singleton Park Campus is set in mature parkland and botanical gardens, overlooking Swansea Bay beach. Bay Campus is located on the beach on the eastern approach into Swansea. Our multicultural dual-campus provides lots of opportunities for students, staff and the community and the friendly and relaxed atmosphere is often characterised as the “Swansea experience”. In the Research Excellence Framework of 2014 (REF), we achieved our ambition to become a UK top 30 research institution. Our REF ranking of 26th was the “biggest leap among research-intensive institutions”, according to Times Higher Education and the quality of Swansea’s research was put on a par with or out-performed six Russell Group universities. We were also ranked 22nd in the UK for the impact of that research.

MBA BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION

SEPTEMBER 2020 ENTRY Full Time (12 months)

Aimed at those who wish to make an impact on society and address the gap between practice and theory that can exist in management, this course is designed to equip students with global skills for organising and collaborating, as well as competing, in the private, public and third sectors. Our MBA challenges students to be critical thinkers, reflecting on theory and management practice in order to identify where change can be made to the global business landscape. A concern for human values as well as shareholder value is at the heart of the Swansea University MBA. By looking into innovating approaches to business best practices, responsible consumption trends and hybrid organisational forms, we prepare our MBA students to meet the trials of securing human values in a time of global transformation. As an MBA student, you will manage a project addressing a real problem of a client organisation, work collaboratively with peers and industry professionals. Work with expert academics, pioneering researchers and leaders in business to tackle key societal challenges and make a positive impact with the opportunity to build on your own experience and challenge how businesses operate. The programme provides a different approach to management thinking and will ensure students make conscious decisions within the working world and understand the wider impact of these decisions.

Tuition Fees Per Year: £20,000

Entry Requirements: Minimum 2:1 degree in any discipline (or overseas equivalent). 3 Years Industrial Experience Must attach CV English Language Requirement: IELTS 6.5 (minimum of 5.5 in

BE THE DRIVING FORCE THAT CREATES A SUSTAINABLE FUTURE

YOUR BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION EXPERIENCE We draw on expertise from across the School of Management to encourage a ‘what works’ mind-set for challenges that cannot be solved by single individuals or organisations acting in isolation. Our MBA is premised on the co-production of relevant knowledge using existing academic research from a variety of theoretical and methodological perspectives alongside your own experience and that of external business and societal leaders. Students will be exposed to industry leading speakers and have the opportunity to learn from both large and small scale business, locally and globally. MENTORSHIP Our MBA students will also have the opportunity of being mentored by someone in industry to gain bespoke guidance and advice throughout the programme and manage industry set projects. This gives us the room to select based on performance, as mentioned later in the brochure.

MASTERCLASSES Throughout the programme, students will attend a number of masterclasses run by academics and industry leaders, providing further insight and opportunities to discuss global business challenges. INTERNATIONAL STUDY VISIT As part of our MBA, you have the opportunity to explore a range of businesses in a major European destination through an International Study Visit. This will allow you to apply the topic areas covered in the course to a European business. Typically, the visit will be 5-6 days in a Capital city, meeting a range of organisations to discuss the company’s challenges with senior managers. Time will also be given to you to explore the city and further develop the social bonds that have emerged during the course. Due to current circumstances, international visits may not happen, if this is the case we will arrange alternative activity.
