The situation is still challenging; however, the light at the end of the tunnel is getting closer and closer and we are working our way to plan the upcoming projects, reopening and preopening of our other wings and how we plan on making the best out of our summer season and Eid Holidays.

SATAY RUAM
Satay Ruam is the seventh course of the Signature Recipe series. In this course, you will learn how to prepare and cook the most popular Thai signature dishes throughout Southeast Asia - Satay Ruam, and accurately replicate it for our guest delight.

Junior Leaders Program
After postponing for more than a year, we finally completed our first official JLP program.
19 participants, 6 modules, 3 months and ongoing development, our colleagues managed to beat the odds, work their way through the challenges and went through the program.
They had to work on their own most of the time and managed their time well. The whole program was done virtually including the graduation ceremony and by the end, each colleague was able to put together a 3 minute video summarizing what they learnt in the past 3 months.
A Job well done and let ’ s see what are upcoming batches have in store for us!!

Royal Air Force Lifeguard Training
We partnered up with the Royal Air Force of Oman and our 2 SST Certified Colleagues gave a 3 day Lifeguard training to a group from the RAF. The second batch is also scheduled to receive this training soon. Stay tuned to find out what exciting new partnerships are being made and how we plan on taking our trainings to the outer world.

Vaccination Drive
96 % of Colleagues have been Vaccinated with the first dose
We have officially begun with our vaccination drive. In coordination with Zubair Corporation, our team is being scheduled to go in different batches get themselves vaccinated. The second dose will be scheduled soon to ensure everyone is safe.

World Turtle day
And yet another successful nesting and hatching season. Our turtles never cease to amaze us and WOW our guests. It ’ s always very magical and breathtaking to watch our baby turtles hatch and make their way to the ocean despite being so little.

Virtual Walkathon

Under CSR – Embrace Program, 200 participants from SLMU joined the virtual Walkathon which was organized by Oman Cancer Association to serve the cancer patients and their families who are very much in need of support. Our participation was to increase our colleague ’ s awareness and to mark Shangri - la ’ s Responsibility towards the community.

SLMU was awarded both the 2021 Traveller ’ s Choice Award on TripAdvisor and the Customer Excellence Award from British Airways Holidays , while SLMH was awarded the 2021 Traveller ’ s Choice - Best of the Best Award for the Romance - Middle East category.

With the industry facing its toughest year on record in 2020, marketing hotels correctly has been more important than ever. 50 hotel marketeers that have made an impression over the past 12 months were nominated by their peers and colleagues. And who other that our own Director of marketing and Communication to be nominated for the 50 best hotel marketing talents in the Middle East Award.
Another great Achievement for the Hotel and an Inspiration to All.

Sarah Khaled continues to turn heads over in Oman for her showstopper ideas and campaigns. For example, a voucher sale drive led by Sarah resulted in 714 room night bookings, 112 dining vouchers and 385 hotel day use voucher purchased. If you want some even bigger numbers, she also organized the largest collection of national flags by sea in Oman on the hotel ’ s beachfront. This created a video which got 15,000 views, 10,000 likes and an extra 2,000 followers. In terms of comms, she has helped to create more than 300 pieces of coverage, equivalent to around 49 million impressions. for Shangri - La Al Husn Resort & Spa and Shangri - La Barr Al Jissah Resort & Spa.
