EXPLO’S ARRIVAL AND DEPARTURE BY CAR

Arrival: Sunday, June 27 and Sunday, July 18 PLEASE NOTE — we absolutely cannot accommodate early arrivals this summer. Due to our COVID-19 mitigation procedures, the arrival logistics will be particularly complex. For the safety of our community, we must stagger our arrivals carefully and will be planning to receive each of our students during a precise window. Families who arrive early will be asked to return during their scheduled time.

EXPLO is not responsible for the supervision of any students arriving on the Sarah Lawrence campus before the start of Registration on Arrival Day.

Unlike a typical summer, we will not allow parents and guardians onto the lawn or inside of our dormitories. Our car arrival procedure will have families driving through two different stations for testing, registration packets, meeting our nurses, and luggage drop-off. Don’t worry, you’ll be able to hop out of your car to give your child a hug before they walk with our staff to meet their living group and settle into their rooms. You will receive a link to sign up for an arrival time. All families must schedule a time via this link so we can prepare for your child’s arrival. We recommend scheduling your time immediately upon receiving the link so you are provided with the widest range of options.

On arrival day, please do not drive into the main entrance of Sarah Lawrence’s campus. Instead, at your scheduled arrival time, please drive to:

There, you’ll find signs and EXPLO staff directing you through the registration process. (Early arrivals should not enter this area; please arrive only at your scheduled time.) Remember that the first thing we’ll ask to see is documentation of your child’s negative PCR test from within 72 hours of your arrival. Departure: Friday, July 16 and Friday, August 6 Departing from EXPLO should be (thankfully!) less complex than arrival! Approximately one week prior to departure day, you’ll receive a link to schedule your pick-up time as well as the pick-up location on-campus. When you arrive, your child will be waiting for you along with their luggage and ready to hop in your vehicle.

TRAVEL BY PLANE When booking your travel or your child’s flight to EXPLO, please check flight windows on the Arrival and Departure Schedule on page 1. • Fly into JFK Airport in New York City to take advantage of our airport shuttle service (Please note that we do not provide transportation to or from Newark or LaGuardia.) • Is your child flying solo? Please be assured that EXPLO staff will help your child at every step of the travel process, from airport pickup to arrival on campus • Meet at the baggage claim area — our staff will be at each of the main airport terminals, wearing bright orange EXPLO T-shirts

SHUTTLE TO/FROM LOGAN AIRPORT Shuttles will take students from JFK Airport to Sarah Lawrence College on Arrival Day, and back to JFK Airport when it’s time to fly home. Our staff will assist students to airport security and will remain at the airport until all flights have departed.

• There is a $75 fee each way for EXPLO’s shuttle service

• Flying with your child? Parents/guardians may not travel on the EXPLO shuttle from JFK Airport to the Sarah Lawrence campus.

• For flights arriving early, students should remain in the baggage claim area until our staff arrives

• Per the agreement in the EXPLO Community Pledge, please remind your child to wear their mask while on the plane and in the airport

Note About Unaccompanied Minors Students should not book travel as Unaccompanied Minors (UM), if at all possible. Rest assured we will be tracking all flights, and will meet your child at the airport.

If your airline does require flying as a UM for your child’s age, please be sure that ALL flight arrangements, including the Unaccompanied Minor service fees, are settled ahead of time.
