Label Summit Speakers Unveiled Being held this May at Santiago’s Es- pacio Riesco in Chile, the Label Sum- mit Latin America 2017 will tackle key issues for the Chilean label and pack- age printing field including industry trends, new technologies, market chal- lenges and specific aspects of the wine labeling trade. The opening keynote presentation will be delivered by Ronaldo Mello and Ralph Olthoff of Avery Dennison Cor- poration. Titled The changing global and regional pressure-sensitive label industry , they will give delegates an in- sight into growth opportunities, macroeconomic trends impacting on the sector and an overview of the wine and spirit market. Opening Day Other sessions on the opening day include a detailed run down of local market trends for Chile and the South- ern Cone. The Crystal 108 is designed for food packaging applications with an emphasis on reducing changeover times, material waste and energy consumption. The press was also designed for various flexible packaging needs when a high level of au- tomation is required. The press is equipped with Uteco’s Kiss & Go technology, a patented system that performs the optical scan of 100 percent of the printed web and automatically sets the optimal printing impressions.

uv.eb West 2017 Celebrates Record Attendance uv.eb West 2017, held February 27-March 1 in San Francisco, California, welcomed more than 300 atten- dees and 50 exhibitors. Formlabs’ Maximilian Zieringer helped keynote the 3D printing session with a presentation on Material Science: Advancing the Future of Digital Manufac- turing and 3D Printing , while Jake Hundley, HRL Laboratories, discussed Process-Microstructure Rela- tionships in Additively Manufactured Photopoly- mer-Derived Ceramics. The role that UV (ultraviolet) and EB (electron beam) technologies are playing in food packaging and disinfection were presented in depth, with Con- nie Williams, Mars Chocolate, NA offering a review of Mars and the Food Safety Modernization Act . A session on Next Generation UV Inkjet Technology included talks on new materials and enabling low mi- gration, with a special presentation by Matt Hirsch of Lumii, an MIT start-up company, on Lumii Light Field 3D Prints:A New Dimension for UV Printers . A special session on UV Materials for Displays: Touch + Beyond included a review of the soaring au- tomotive touch display market, as well as new materi- als and processes for fabrication.The event wrapped

up with a series of presentations on the application, materials, equipment and measurement advance- ments that are enabling the fast emerging implemen- tation of UV LEDs. Henkel, Clearwater Paper Awarded By ICG The Independent Carton Group (ICG), an associa- tion of 18 independently owned and operated fold- ing carton manufacturers, has announced that Clearwater Paper Corporation and Henkel Corpora- tion have both been presented with the ICG Supplier of the Year Award for 2016. The award is presented annually to the ICG supplier that receives the highest marks on performance evaluations completed by ICG members for the prior calendar year. This is the first time in the history of the award that the mem- ber evaluations resulted in a tie, causing the group to present two suppliers with the award. Clearwater Paper and Henkel are both past recipi- ents of the ICG Supplier of the Year Award. This marks the fourth time since the introduction of the award six years ago that Clearwater Paper has re- ceived the award. It is the second such recognition for Henkel.

ICE Europe 2017 Holds 10th Show

The recently held 10th International Converting Ex- hibition, ICE Europe 2017, reported a total of 6,850 visitors from 68 countries. The show welcomed 429 exhibitors from 28 countries, covering a net exhibi- tion space of 11,000 square meters. The biggest exhibitor countries after Germany were Italy, Great Britain, Switzerland, the United States, France and the Netherlands. Top ten visitor countries were Germany, Italy, Austria, Poland, Switzerland, Great Britain, France, Spain, the Czech Republic and the Netherlands. To celebrate the 10th edition of ICE Europe, exhibi- tion organizers Mack Brooks Exhibitions awarded prizes to four exhibiting companies for best practice, excellence, innovation and extraordinary perfor- mance in the converting industry. Winning company in the category ‘Converting Solu- tions for New Materials’ was Infiana Germany for its antistatic release films.
