JOHNS CREEK PHYSICAL THERAPY

The Newsletter About Your Health And Caring For Your Body

“Spring Into Action With The Help Of Johns Creek PT! ” Hip, Knee Or Leg Pain & Finding The Source

The hip and knee joints are incredible marvels of the human body. At times they have towithstand up to 6 times the force of your body weight. The knee joint is the second most complicated joint in the body and has tomove inmany directions including forward, backward, side to side and rotation. These different movements are called accessorymotions and are needed for normal walking, running and bending. When you experience pain in or around the knee, you may have lost movement in these accessory motions. Prolonged sitting, injuries, arthritis and disease can affect accessorymotions. With every day use, tissues around the hip and knee joints tighten, leading to a gradual loss of motion. This causes a lot of pressure to build up on specific parts of these joints. When Your Motion is Lost When you lose the movement of your hip, knee or ankle joints, the muscles have to take on the strain. This is the common source of aches and pains experienced by millions of people. The physical therapy experts at Johns Creek Physical Therapy have years of training in examination of the mechanics of joints and tissues. Many people feel that medication will help solve their hip, knee or leg pain. While medication can

help to decrease inflammation and pain, it cannot address the cause of the problem. Most pain in the hip, thigh or knee comes from poor flexibility, strength or coordination. This happens for a variety of reasons, but takes the skill of our physical therapists to examine and find the root cause. Treating Leg Pain To determine the source of your leg pain our expert physical therapists examine your walking, squatting, joint movement, comparing the strength and mobility of the joints. A comprehensive treatment plan, including special hands-on techniques, is made to achieve the fastest pain relief and the longest lasting results. If you are suffering with hip, knee or leg pain, call us today to learnmore howwe can quickly relieve your pain and put a spring back in your step!

Johns Creek Physical Therapy Loves Giving Back!

If you’ve been a patient at our clinic b e f o r e , y o u ’ v e probably seen a Physical Therapy student or two doing a clinical rotation at our office. First and foremost, let me say “thank you” for allowing the students to work

People have told me openly that it is obvious I enjoy teaching and being a mentor to these therapy students. Indeed, I do enjoy teaching and feel it is something I’ve been called to do. We have just completed an eight week rotation with a student physical therapist assistant from Lanier Tech. Ryan Cook did an excellent job and we were pleased to be part of his clinical experience. We will be welcoming another student from Georgia State University in the months of June and July. If you have the opportunity to serve as a mentor or be part of a young person’s life in an influential way, I would encourage you to do so. In fact, I would even challenge you to find a way to be a part of your community and give something of yourself. Giving back or being a mentor takes effort and requires commitment. But, the reward is often much greater than the effort you give.

with you. Being a clinic instructor for a student is something I do on a regular basis. After having both good, and not so good experiences when I was a student, I enjoy trying to provide a good clinical experience for those students who are currently getting their physical therapy education. Providing this experience would not be possible without participation from patients like you.
