Executive Summary

MECHANICAL ENGINEER (BUILDING SERVICES)

About Imperial College London Our mission is to achieve enduring excellence in research and education in science, engineering, medicine and business for the benefit of society. Our strategy is built on underpinning foundations that make Imperial a great academic institution with talented and inspirational people who make up our university community. We are one of the highest ranked universities in the UK with worldwide recognition.

In 2014 the College celebrated its best ever performance in a research assessment. The Research Excellence Framework (REF) 2014 found that 91% of Imperial research was judged as “world-leading” or “internationally excellent” (4* and 3*) - the highest proportion of any major university. The College was also shown to have the UK’s greatest concentration of high-impact research.

About Us

Imperial demonstrated improvement in every REF research area. Nine of the College’s 14 research areas were ranked in the top three in the UK overall, with two taking the top spot: Public Health, Health Services & Primary Care, and Civil & Construction Engineering. Our extensive campus network can be viewed at https://www.imperial.ac.uk/media/imperial-col- lege/visit/public/londoncampuslocations.pdf which includes White City, which is a platform for innovation and entrepreneurship at the heart of a vibrant area to live, work and play.

We are driving this evolution with a £2 billion investment in a new 23-acre integrated collaborative campus. South Kensington is our main campus and it is here that most undergraduate and postgraduate activity takes place. It’s a compact site in the heart of ‘Albertopolis’ and is home to a huge range of architectural styles from the Edwardian Royal School of Mines building to the ultra-modern Norman Foster-designed Business School. There’s plenty of green space too, including a beautiful landscaped square, with our famous Queen’s Tower at one end.
