MADD’s CAMPAIGN TO ELIMINATE DRUNK DRIVING® focuses on four important philoso- phies: Support our heroes. Support law enforcement efforts to catch drunk drivers and discour- age others from driving drunk.  Sober to start. Require ignition interlock devices or in - car breathalyzers, for all drunk driv- ers, to prove they are sober before their car will start.  Secure the future. Support the development of technology to automatically determine whether drivers are above the legal limit of .08 BAC and stop drunk drivers from operating vehicles.  Public Support. It’s everybody’s responsibility to eliminate drunk driving. Re - engage the public in the fight against im- paired driving.

MADD’s TIE ONE ON FOR SAFETY® campaign calls for motorists to display a red ribbon on their vehicles in support of law enforcement efforts and as a reminder to plan ahead and designate a non - drinking driver.

CALIFORNIA STATE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

A message from MADD California State Executive Director

Welcome to our Virtual Law Enforcement Recognition event! MADD wishes to acknowledge the distinguished individuals who change lives one presentation at a time — their experiences, expertise, and dedication are invaluable resources to our foundation. Therefore, It is MADD California’s honor to host and recognize you today. Please accept this recognition as a small token of our appreciation for the risks you take daily to keep our roads safe from impaired drivers. You are truly an essential nat- ural part and a valuable part the MADD family. During 2019, MADD staff and volunteers happily traveled all over California deliv- ering MADD’s core programs and services, all of which are free of charge to the public. These volunteer- based programs include but are not limited to victim ad- vocacy, underage drinking prevention programs, community engagement and the campaign to eliminate drunk and drugged driving. At its core, MADD provides services to victims and families of drunk and drugged driving crashes at no cost, successfully lobby to support stronger drunk driving laws, deliver underage drinking prevention strategies to thousands of teens, and we are single handedly responsible for changing the apathetic culture surround- ing drinking and driving. Drunk driving continues to be a leading cause of death and injuries in our country. We applaud you today and throughout the year for your dedication to make our roadways safer.
