LAW ENFORCEMENT RECOGNI T ION VIRTUAL AWARDS
#ONEMADDCALIFORNI Bay Area, Fresno & Central Val ley TUESDAY | JUNE 22, 2021 10:00 AM
Bay Area ● Sacramento ● Fresno 7027 Dublin Blvd, Ste 110, Dublin, CA 95468 (925) 452-8752 www.madd.org/northern-california @MADDCalifornia
OUR MI SS ION Founded in 1980, Mothers Against Drunk Driving® (MADD) is the nation’s largest nonprofit working to end drunk driving, help fight drugged driving, support the victims of these violent crimes and prevent underage drinking.
POWER OF YOUTH® Informs high school students of the science behind the legal drinking age of 21 and safe driving practices. This interactive program presented in classroom or assembly settings is effective in generating discussions about the consequences of poor choices and working to prevent underage drinking. #protecturselfie #protecturfriends #protecturfuture
POWER OF PARENTS® educates parents about their influence with their teens and equips them with the conversational tools necessary to talk about alcohol.
Our 5K non‐competitive walks provide opportunities for everyone to participate in a healthy, fun activity while helping our community. With every step taken and dollar raised, walkers generate funds and awareness to support MADD’s life‐saving mission. For more information on this year’s 2021 virtual walk, please visit: WWW. WA LKL I KEMA DD.ORG BAKERSFIELD, CA CARLSBAD, CA FRESNO, CA LONG BEACH, CA RIALTO, CA SACRAMENTO, CA SAN DIEGO, CA SAN FRANCISCO, CA VENTURA, CA
MADD’s CAMPAIGN TO ELIMINATE DRUNK DRIVING® focuses on four important philosophies: ∗ Support our heroes. Support law enforcement efforts to catch drunk drivers and discourage others from driving drunk. ∗ Sober to start. Require ignition interlock devices or in‐car breathalyzers, for all drunk driver to prove they are sober before their car will start. ∗ Secure the future. Support the development of technology to automatically determine whether drivers are above the legal limit of .08 BAC and stop drunk drivers from operating vehicles. ∗ Public Support. It’s everybody’s responsibility to eliminate drunk driving. Re‐engage the public in the fight against impaired driving.
MADD’s TIE ONE ON FOR SAFETY® campaign calls for motorists to display a red ribbon on their vehicles in support of law enforcement efforts and as a reminder to plan ahead and designate a non-drinking driver.
CALIFORNIA STATE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
A message from MADD California State Executive Director
Welcome to our 2021 Virtual Law Enforcement Recognition event - We are so happy you could join us! MADD California wishes to take this time to acknowledge distinguished individuals who change lives one day at a time — their experiences, expertise, and dedication are invaluable resources to our business model. Therefore, it is MADD California’s honor to host and recognize you today. Please accept this recognition as a small token of our appreciation for the risks you take daily to keep our roads safe from impaired drivers. You are truly an essential and valuable part of the MADD family. 2020 was a very difficult year for MADD California, as I am sure it was for most. Despite the challenges presented in 2020, MADD staff and volunteers delivered MADD ’ s core programs and services – virtually throughout California, all of which are free of charge to the public. These volunteer-based programs include but are not limited to victim advocacy, underage drinking prevention programs, community engagement and the campaign to eliminate drunk and drugged driving. At its core, MADD provides services to victims and families of drunk and drugged driving crashes at no cost, successfully lobby to support stronger drunk driving laws, deliver underage drinking prevention strategies to thousands of teens, and we are single handedly responsible for changing the apathetic culture surrounding drinking and driving. Impaired driving continues to be a leading cause of death and injuries in our country. We applaud you today and throughout the year for your dedication to make our roadways safer.
