BIGGEST EVER NATIONAL FENESTRATION AWARDS VOTE SET TO OPEN W elcome to your second edition of NFA Digital, and it comes just as we’re about to announce the lucky people and companies who have made it through to the voting phase of this year’s competition. We shall also be announcing the winners of the September Cool Wall and opening up the October Systems and Clayton Glass, who are backing this part of the competition for the 2017 and 2018 campaigns.
We had a record 299 nominations during the longest ever phase of it’s kind in the NFAs. Although we cannot yet announce who made it through, the diversity and sheer number of different companies nominated have meant we are creating longer voting lists and 2017 is set to be the most diverse and expansive competition we have ever had at the voting stage. The voting will open at 10pm on Thursday 5th October and will run until 11pm Thursday 30th November. We encourage all within the industry to get behind the NFAs and vote. Each one genuinely makes a difference, and every year there are categories that are decided literally by just one or two votes. Your participation is the single reason why we are able to crown the very best people and companies every year.
You will be able to vote in this year’s awards by following this link: www.fenestrationawards.co.uk/2017-categories you can also follow the awards on Twitter by following @NatFenAwards or go to our Facebook page: www.facebook.com/www. fenestrationawards.co.uk We hope that you will all take a minute to be part of the biggest NFA campaign yet and help reward some of our most hard working people and companies in our industry!

GENERAL
OTHER THINGS TO KNOW There is a lot going on with the NFAs right now. So here is a quick run through of all the things ongoing and a brief announcements list that should prepare you for a glut of NFA news about to hit your timelines. COOL WALL The 2017 Cool Wall is looking awesome right now. There has been a crazy high quality to the submissions throughout this year. To catch up on all the monthly winners so far, follow this link: www.fenestrationawards.co.uk/2017-cool-wall. The September Cool Wall, sponsored by Clayton Glass and Prefix Systems, is still live and there remains plenty of time to either upload your own work to be voted on, or to cast your own votes on the installations already live and decide this month’s winner. You can do that here: www.fenestrationawards.co.uk/september- 2017-cool-wall. NEW VOTING SYSTEM As I mentioned above, we will be using a new voting system for this year’s campaign. We can’t say too much right now, but the new system intends to make voting even easier for everyone. Crucially, we will be dropping the requirement for people to be logged in to the website for the very first time. The intention is to make voting in this year’s NFAs as accessible as possible. Instead, we will be using a new authentication process to protect the voting process. If it works well this year, we will carry it on to future campaigns.
NEW SPONSORS We have a couple of announcements to come this week (hopefully), which will unveil two new #NFA17 main sponsorships. Stay tuned! DIGITAL MAGAZINE Last month you may have seen our trial of our new monthly digital magazine, simply called NFA Digital. It is a brand new media platform within the NFA ecosystem which is designed to bring all the latest NFA news and announcements, guest editorials, sponsor’s news and PR right to your inbox. We have had some great feedback after our first one at the end of August, so you can expect the September edition coming in the next couple of days. You can expect to see a library of editions on the NFA website very soon. More on NFA Digital and how you can get involved with that will be available on the NFA website soon. VOTING PHASE These are the dates you need to know for the upcoming voting phase and what happens after: • Voting phase: Thursday 5th October – Thursday 30th November • Winners Week: Monday 4th December – Thursday 7th December There is plenty going on right now, and it is your participation that is key to making it all work. The National Fenestration Awards remains the UK glazing industry’s only independent awards platform where everyone from every sector of the industry can be part of the process from start to finish. To get involved, go to the NFA website and be part of it all: www.fenestrationawards.co.uk.

INTRODUCING GLOBAL GLASS ESSEX
S ynseal Group has rebranded the domestic manufacturing arm of Village Glass in Essex, which is now part of the group’s £40 million Global Glass division. Global Glass Essex services the domestic customers of Village Glass, previously Euroview Manufacturing Limited, and gives additional capacity to the 360 Global Glass customers which Synseal Group supplies throughout the UK.
to the growing demand from our nationwide customer base. Just like our previous Global Glass acquisitions, we are in a position to fill our capacity and continue to grow while providing 24/7 operational consistency to our customers across four toughening plants and six fully automated sealed unit lines. “We’re very proud that Global Glass is now the largest UK owned IGU supplier with a capacity of 50,000 sealed units a week.” The glass factory in Essex is the third major acquisition for Global Glass in four years, following on from the transition of K2 Conservatories Ltd to Global Glass Blackburn, and Systems Glass to Global Glass Wigan. Since 2011, Synseal Group has invested more than £10 million into its Global Glass division which has gone from a standing start to a £40 million turnover in glass sales in just six years.
Following the acquisition in December 2016, Global Glass Essex has near tripled its IGU capacity from 6,500 to 18,000 and has appointed 45 new staff members in a range of roles including shop floor, sales and engineering. Derren Gittins, Glass Managing Director at Synseal Group, said: “We’re having a brilliant year at Global Glass and are very pleased with the progress already made at the Essex plant, where we have almost tripled our sealed unit capacity. It’s an excellent state-of- the-art facility with a high speed triple unit line and a very talented team of staff committed to delivering consistent quality for our customers.
“We acquired the plant in Essex to give us a regional base in the South East and to respond

MORLEY GLASS & GLAZING EXPANDS PRODUCTION WITH £700,000 INVESTMENT
M orley Glass & Glazing, which specialises in manufacturing Uni-Blind® sealed units with ScreenLine® integral blinds inside, has invested £700,000 to increase production capacity at its factory in Leeds. The fast-growing business has added a second IGU production line to the 50,000 sq ft factory premises it moved into 12 months ago. It can now manufacture 3000 sealed units with integral blinds inside per week. Ian Short managing director at Morley Glass & Glazing said: “We moved into these larger premises last year and used the opportunity to set up a production line specifically to manufacture sealed units with integral blinds inside. At the time, we invested in a 58-metre long automated sealed unit production line from Best Makina. We’ve been so impressed with the quality and efficiency of the equipment that we’ve now invested in a second line to further enhance our capacity and meet customer demand for our popular product range.”
Morley Glass has achieved 30% year-on-year growth as demand continues to increase for its Uni-Blind® sealed units with ScreenLine® blinds inside, and this growth is set to continue. The Uni-Blinds® range provides the widest choice of integral blinds in double and triple glazed units, with all manual, solar and motorised versions available in the industry’s shortest lead-time of 10 days from 11am any Friday. Morley Glass & Glazing provides unrivalled technical support for Uni-Blinds® customers too, being the only UK supplier of integral blinds to have dedicated customer support engineers on the road. It also stocks the largest range of ScreenLine® system spare parts in Europe with the enlarged factory enabling it to stock £1 million of Screenline® components with most parts supplied within 24 hours.
