From the President

by Scott Howry, President, Board of Governors

August is upon us and there are many great things to look forward to over

will be possible with this new application. It is definitely something to be excited about as we continue to try and improve your member experience here at Seven Oaks Country Club. With school starting and everyone's end of summer getaways, our fall events kick off next month. On September 9th, there is the Huneesus Vinters Wine Dinner. On September 15th, there is Wine & Paint Night. On September 14th, there is a tennis mixer, and then Twilight Pickleball on September 20th. And then finally, save the date and sign up early for the 3rd Annual Seven Oaks Golf Classic on Saturday September 25th. The Golf Classic should be a great event, and as in the past, funds raised will go toward future golf course projects. Also, if you did not notice, dining has been getting much busier recently, so make your reservations early for all events including Pasta (Wednesdays) and Basque night (Sundays).

the next couple months at the club.

For one, we have been working diligently and are getting very close to launching our new interactive mobile application. If you get an opportunity, take a look at Pacesettertechnology.com. We should be launching this mobile application by the end of September. The Bridges, the Olympic Club, and Medinah are just a few of the well-known clubs that are already using it very successfully. This platform will provide us with some great features: Want to see who is currently at the Club? Want to order food and beverage for pickup or in advance from all club restaurants and snack bars? Want to see a current calendar of events? Want to view your statement in real time? Want to make dining reservations? Want to view current available tee times? Want to wave a mobile key for the Grand Island area? Want to request your clubs to be ready for your arrival? All and more

I look forward to seeing you around the Club!

Seven Oaks Book Club The Seven Oaks Book Club meets each month to discuss books on a reading list which is selected by mutual consent of the Book Club members. All members of SOCC are invited to attend. Our selection for August… House of Mirth by Edith Wharton

First published in 1905, The House of Mirth shocked the New York society it so deftly chronicles, portraying the moral, social and economic restraints on a woman who dared to claim the privileges of marriage without assuming the responsibilities.

Lily Bart, beautiful, witty and sophisticated, is accepted by 'old money' and courted by the growing tribe of nouveaux riches. But as she nears thirty, her foothold becomes precarious; a poor girl with expensive tastes, she needs a husband to preserve her social standing, and to maintain her in the luxury she has come to expect. Whilst many have sought her, something-fastidiousnessorintegrity-preventsherfrom making a 'suitable' match.

Our next meeting is Thursday, August 25th at 4pm Please email Bee Barmann at [email protected] to receive information on joining the meeting.

Manager's Message by Enrique Contreras, CCM, GM/COO

kicks off our events for the rest of the year and we have some great things planned; make sure you are checking your Thursday Weekly Update emails and the monthly newsletters for our upcoming events… I’m pleased to announce that you will see a few new faces around the Club. Please join me in welcoming three new Directors - Maria Cook, our new Membership Sales Director; Castavious Henderson, our new Head Golf Professional and Mathy Hufford, our new Club House Manager. I am very excited that these three new Directors are part of our team, so that we can move to the next level for the best member experience. If you have any questions, concerns or suggestions on how to improve your experience, please do not hesitate to call or email me.

Dear Members, I hope you are all having a fantastic summer! I would like to thank all the members and their guests that joined us for the 4th of July Celebration. We had over 1200 people in attendance, with what I believe to be the best firework show in town! Last Friday, July 29th marked the last week of Summer Camp – the kids all enjoyed themselves. We had an average of 30 kids per day with fun filled daily activities, golf, tennis and field trips. Thank you, Eryn and all of the Camp Counselors for doing a great job! I hope that everyone has had the opportunity to try the exciting new lunch and dinner menus in the Oak Room – we have new appetizers to main courses. Please let us know what you think! Due to a large event happening at the Club that week- end, we have a new date for our Wine Dinner with Huneesus Vinters that was scheduled for August 19th; the new date is September 9th. September

Please be safe and I will see you at the Club!
