Message from the President by Mike Burton, President, Board of Governors

construction is under way and our banquet room is almost complete as the new chairs have just arrived. Financially, things continue to be strong. Our month of April provided exceptional results and we are moving in the same direction for the month of May. Special thanks to our entire staff for continuing to identify opportunities to reduce costs and improve processes. Our Strategic Planning committee is working, in conjunction with our House and Solar committees, to review bid proposals that are due at the end of May. Work is also under way reviewing options for the expansion of the Mixed Grille, in addition to some improvements on the golf course and at the tennis courts. I would also like to announce that our Board of Directors has approved the startup of a new Tennis and Pickle Ball committee. This commit- tee will be chaired by Claire Gilliam and she will be actively pursuing equity members to be a part of her team. Meetings will start up in June and we are all excited to see what’s in store moving forward. A reminder to all that the West Nine construction project begins on June 1. Crews will begin

Happy June, Seven Oaks Members!

Let’s start right off by wishing a big happy belated Mother’s day to all the moms out there or anyone that represents motherhood to you. When I sit down to write this message, it is typically a few weeks before or after special events hit our calendars. As I write today, we continue to get closer to enjoying a “normalcy” again. Our club has been a fail-safe during these difficult times as a place to feel comfortable and enjoy the simple pleasures of recreation, dining of your choice and a common place to visit with family and friends. A special thanks to all of our staff for making Seven Oaks Country Club our go to place. We celebrate you for everything you provide our families and friends. It is hard to predict what our club, let alone our community, will look like during these next few months. However, we continue to work hard on opening up more options for all of you. Some exciting news is the complete reope- ning of our Mixed Grille, along with summer camps starting in June for our young ones. In addition, we are excited to announce that we will have our annual 4th of July celebration. Pickle ball

immediately working on fumigating the current greens over the next 14 days so they die off properly before start up begins. We will all have to put our patience hats on over the next nine months as we will be playing golf on 18 holes with over 425 golfers! I am pleased to announce that our appreciation golf tournament for our Health Care Heroes was a huge success. It was an honor to be a part of such a rewarding event full of fun, excitement and a stress free day for all involved. None of this was possible without the assistance from our sponsors, members of the club and all of our staff. Thankfully, when a need arises, you are all quick to respond. Your encouragement and donations helped this tournament come together quickly. We all did the right thing! So, here we are approaching June business. I hope that you all enjoyed your Memorial Day holiday. As is always the case, please reach out to a board member if you have any suggestions or ideas to improve your overall experience at Seven Oaks Country Club. Enjoy your time at the club and I’ll see you on the course!

Seven Oaks Book Club The Seven Oaks Book Club meets each month to discuss books on a reading list which is selected by mutual consent of the Book Club members. All members of SOCC are invited to attend.

Our selection for June is…

On Gold Mountain by Lisa See In 1867, Lisa See's great-great-grandfather arrived in America, where he prescribed herbal remedies to immigrant laborers who were treated little better than slaves. His son Fong See later built a mercantile empire and married a Caucasian woman, in spite of laws prohibiting interracial marriage. Lisa herself grew up playing in her family's antiques store in Los Angeles's Chinatown, listening to stories of missionaries and prostitutes, movie stars and Chinese baseball teams. With these stories and her own years of research, Lisa See chronicles the one-hundred-year-odyssey of her Chinese-American family, a history that encompasses racism, romance, secret marriages, entrepreneurial genius, and much more, as two distinctly different cultures meet in a new world. Our next meeting is June 25 th at 5pm at the Club Please email Bee Barmann @ [email protected] to receive information on joining the meeting.

Car Wash Services Drop your car off next to the Tennis Pool area or give your keys to the Golf Shop and we will do the rest! $25 for Cars $30-$35 for Trucks/SUVs Cash payment can be left with the Car Wash staff or you can charge it to your member account* * There is a $5 convience fee for charging to your member account Saturdays, starting at 9am

What's Cookin' by Corey Dye, Executive Chef

This month I wanted to share a nice sauce you can put over any type of meat and it will add a nice fresh and light flavor to you dishes. Chimichurri is a mix on herbs, oil and some type of acid most often vinegar. Chimichurri, a mix of herbs, oil and some type of acid, comes from Argentina which is well known for their beef and full body red wines - I recommend you enjoy this with both! This recipe can be made and held in the refrigerator as long as you don’t add the vinegar. The vinegar will cause the other ingredients to break down and lose their brightness

Chimichurri 1 Bunch Parsley fine chopped

4 T chopped Oregano 4 garlic cloves minced 2 t red chili flakes 1.5 C EVOO .25 C red wine vinegar Mix ingredients together and add the oil. Do not add the vinegar until you are ready to serve.

by Joe Haggerty, PGA Director of Golf

With an increase of range activity, we are experiencing a huge loss of driving range balls. We have witnessed golfers hitting the balls from the driving range to the #4 green, which is causing a lot of balls to land in the lake! Also, we have noticed golfers taking range balls out on the course and using them to play on holes with water hazards. Because of this, we have had to purchase an additional 10,000 range balls that were not budgeted, which potentially can hurt the Club’s

bottom line, and ultimately result in increased costs to our members. While it may be fun, we ask that you do not hit balls from the range to #4 green and that you use your own balls out on the course. Going forward, we may be forced to penalize those that we catch violating this policy. Thank you for your cooperation regarding this matter.
