From the President

The solar contract is now final and it is full speed ahead on getting permits to start construction. Depending on permitting, we hope the project will be completed over the next 12 months. Be on the lookout for a member survey that will go out this month. We hope you will take the time to fill it out. We would like to get them back in by the end of May so that the Board can review the responses for the important feedback that we will receive. Finally, we should in the next 2-3 months have a new mobile application called “Pacesetter” to help members be more interactive with the club. It will include functions such as food and beverage ordering, integrated club events calendar, view and pay statements, integrated dining reservations, integrated tee sheets, and member and staff directories. The Board believes it will be a huge asset that will improve your mem- ber experience immeasurably.

by Scott Howry, President, Board of Governors

I hope everyone had a great Easter! We had over 500 people for the Easter Egg hunt, and another 500 people for

Sunday Easter Brunch. We also had a very suc- cessful sold out Member-Guest Tournament this past weekend and many other successful events at the club this past month. We have some great things to look forward to in May, such as the club’s annual Cinco De Mayo event, Mother’s Day Brunch, and our weekly events such as Taco Tuesday, Pasta Night, Friday Night Live, and Basque Night on Sundays. Make your reservations early so you do not miss out. I can also report that the Board is making progress on adding solar panels to reduce power costs. I can assure everyone that the Board mandated that the design and placement of the panels are consistent with club architecture, and will be in strategic locations that will preserve current views of the clubhouse from the entrance of the club.

Thanks for reading and I hope to see you around the club!

Seven Oaks Book Club

The Seven Oaks Book Club meets each month to discuss books on a reading list which is selected by mutual consent of the Book Club members. All members of SOCC are invited to attend. Our selection for May is… Crocodile on the Sandbank by Elizabeth Peters

Amelia Peabody, that indomitable product of the Victorian age, embarks on her debut Egyptian adventure armed with unshakable self-confidence, a journal to record her thoughts, and, of course, a sturdy umbrella.

On her way to Cairo, Amelia rescues young Evelyn Barton-Forbes, who has been abandoned by her scoundrel lover. Together the two women sail up the Nile to an archeological site run by the Emerson brothers - the irascible but dashing Radcliffe and the amiable Walter. Soon their little party is increased by one - one mummy that is, and a singularly lively example of the species. Strange visitations, suspicious accidents, and a botched kidnapping convince Amelia that there is a plot afoot to harm Evelyn. Now Amelia finds herself up against an unknown enemy - and perilous forces that threaten to make her first Egyptian trip also her last . . . Our next meeting is Thursday, May 26th at 4pm Please email Bee Barmann at [email protected] to receive information on joining the meeting.
