Oregon artist Richard Muller worked primarily as a landscape painter. His paintings display a deep sensitivity to nature, expressed through a muted, focused color palette, which imaginatively explores the nuance of color. Born in 1928 in Morris- town, New Jersey, Muller studied from 1947–1951 at Syracuse University, and from 1954–1956 at the University of Oregon. He joined the art faculty at Portland State University in 1959, where he taught for many years. Muller’s work is in the permanent collections of the Portland Art Museum and the Hallie Ford Museum of Art. MICHAEL PARSONS ____________________ FINE ART Richard A. Muller 1928–1991, OREGON
