HANDGUN SELF-DEFENSE EDUCATION & TRAINING Presented by: Defensive Perspective, LLC | Instructor: Bob Kipp

- Ages: 18 + - Children will not be permitted in the classroom or at the range. - Alcohol, illegal drug use, or individuals under the influence will not be permitted in the classroom or at the range. - Inert Polymer Training Handguns will be used in the classroom for instruction, training and demonstration. The only exception will be firearms presented or approved by the instructor. - Defensive Perspective, LLC provides education and training only and does not guarantee individuals will qualify for Idaho State Concealed Carry Weapon Permits as outlined under State Law.

WOMEN’S HANDGUN AND SELF DEFENSE FUNDAMENTALS Location: Parks and Recreation (795 S. 5th W) $60.00 – 5 hours classroom

WOMEN’S CONCEALED CARRY FUNDAMENTALS Location: Parks & Recreation (795 S. 5th W) $70.00 – 6 hours classroom plus Range Training

Whether you are already comfortable or still getting acquainted with handling firearms, this course will provide you with further training and education. Centered on the concealed carry lifestyle, this course will take a closer look at self-defense handgun options, a variety of defensive shooting techniques, conflict avoidance, situational awareness, the mind and body's reaction to violent encounters, holster and carry considerations and how to develop your own training plan. Includes laser handgun training and the Training Manual "Concealed Carry and Horne Defense Fundamentals" by Michael Martin. *Course qualifies as training for the Idaho Standard Concealed Carry Permit. S 7/9 9:00am-noon & 1pm-4 7/23 9:00am-noon & 1pm-4

A great place to get started. Designed specifically for women considering the purchase of a firearm, the new handgun owner or someone needing to extend their comfort level, this course provides the fundamentals of handgun ownership and the initial steps you can take to stay safer. You will be provided the opportunity to handle both a revolver and semi-automatic handgun and will walk away with a better understanding of their operations and the pros and cons of each. The heart of this course was developed specifically for women by Beth Alcazar, USCCA Associate Editor and Senior Training Counselor and includes the fundamentals of shooting, safe handling of firearms, situational awareness, personal boundary considerations, the survivor mindset, handgun types, ammunition, concealed carry options for women and the use of deadly force. Includes laser handgun shooting, which is a great place to establish your fundamentals before stepping on the range. Includes the Training Manual “Women’s Handgun and Self-Defense Fundamentals” by Beth Alcazar. *Course Qualifies as training for the Idaho Standard Concealed Carry Permit. Centered on home protection and self-defense, this course takes a closer look at firearm options, defensive shooting techniques and steps you can take to stay safer in the home. This course will introduce you to concepts of home security, break-in prevention versus intruder delay and your reaction options. With an introduction into layered security concepts (Deter — Detect Delay — Defend), you will walk away with a better understanding of what it takes to protect yourself and your family and methods you can use to develop your own personal protection plan. Includes laser handgun training and the Training Manual "Concealed Carry and Home Defense Fundamentals" by Michael Martin. S 6/4 9:00am-noon & 1pm-4 6/18 9:00am-noon & 1pm-4

ENHANCED CONCEALED CARRY PERMIT TRAINING Location: Parks and Recreation (795 S. 5th W) $150.00 – 8 hours classroom/2 hour range

Designed specifically to address the aspects of the concealed carry lifestyle. Includes firearm safety, understanding semi-automatics and revolvers, conflict avoidance, situational awareness, color codes of awareness, concealed carry permits, ammunition considerations, defensive shooting fundamentals, the legal use of force, violent encounters and their aftermath and concealment carry options. Legal considerations are instructed by a local Law Enforcement Officer. Includes laser handgun training and the Training Manual "Concealed Carry and Home Defense Fundamentals" by Michael Martin. *Course qualifies as training for the Idaho Enhanced Concealed Carry Permit. Range training is conducted on a one-on-one basis and is completed at a different time and location from classroom training. Welcome to the Discovery Preschool Program, specifically designed for the fully potty trained 3-5 year old preschooler! Our goal is to set the stage with a safe, interesting, and fun environment; dedicated teachers, loving parents, and eager young minds. We provide the opportunity for your child to develop socially, emotionally, creatively, and physically. Our program will help your child learn their letters, numbers, colors and shapes; while working on their fine and large motor skills, social skills, and cognitive skills. The teaching staff at Discovery Preschool consists of Chris Pippin and Jennifer Kennedy, both whom are college educated and are backed by years of experience in educating young children. Does your youngster need a sense of accomplishment? This program will provide children with a creative environment to learn and master the basic skills needed to start Kindergarten. IDAHO'S FREE FISHING DAY Idaho's Free Fishing Day is an annual event held the second Saturday in June. All anglers, residents and nonresidents, can celebrate the day by fishing Idaho's waters without a license. If you've never been fishing, Free Fishing Day is also a great day to learn. Fish and Game personnel and volunteers set up several free events at local fishing waters throughout the state to help first- timers discover the joys of fishing. There are a limited number of loaner rods and reels available to practice with but if you have your own equipment you are encouraged to bring it. All other fishing rules and regulations including creel limits, opening dates and tackle restrictions remain in effect. Always check the seasons and rules for the water where you plan to go fishing.

The Jr Bees Coach Pitch Baseball program is a great place to start for kids looking to advance from a T-ball league or have never played baseball before. This program focuses on fundamentals in which participants can build skills to prepare for the seasons ahead and become a successful and confident ball player. Participants will be placed on teams according to age and skill level (see skill level description below). Most importantly your child will have fun! Your child will be placed on a team with a volunteer coach and games will be played during the month of June on Tuesdays and Thursdays, practice may start as early as May 16th,2022. As members of Junior Bees, kids receive the opportunity to attend a Salt Lake Bees baseball game, a Bees T-shirt and hat, and access to exclusive discounts and offers from the Bees. Members also have the unique opportunity to attend clinics at Smith’s Ballpark that are exclusive to Junior Bees members. SUMMER READING PROGRAM 2022 PROGRAM Come and “dive deep” into the library this summer! The Summer Reading program theme this year is “Ocean of Possibilities”. Choose from a vast selection of popular and classic books all summer long to earn popular prizes. SRP is designed to help kids maintain or improve the reading skills they developed during the school year throughout the summer and is available to ALL kids ages birth through 18. (Non- residential student library card fees are waived on new or renewed cards during SRP) This six week program will be full of make & take crafts and activities based on age group, fun family events, and more. We are even offering a “Discover your Town’s History” scavenger hunt for an additional prize.

AFTERSCHOOL PROGRAMS

Kids ages 5 and up can stop by the library after school to engage in creative, educational, and fun events each week. All classes will pause for the summer after the 3rd week in May. Classes will restart the first week of September.

Lotus Flower Lantern Class – In celebration of Asian American and Pacific Is- lander Month, a member of the Korean Spirit and Culture Project will show us how to make a lotus flower lantern using colored paper and wire frames. Then they will share a short documentary film. This program is for Tweens and Teens (ages 10-18) and all supplies will be provided. There is no fee for this event but limited kits are available so registration is required. Register on our website or give us a call. • Friday - May 13th, 4:15-5:30 pm

2022 Summer Reading Program sign-ups – Be ready to start on the first day of SRP. Stop by the Library to sign-up and receive your swag bag! Early signups start Monday, May 23rd and run until Tuesday, May 31st.

FAMILY PROGRAMS & EVENTS Game Night – Grab your friends, family, or coworkers and come spend the evening at the library playing all your favorite board games. The Library has a huge collect of games in all age ranges. Tuesday, April 26th (7:00-9:00 pm) the library will have all of our games available to play plus we will have snacks and beverages to enjoy. El Día de Los Niños/El Día de Los Libros (Children's Day/Book Day) - or Dia, is a celebration every day of children, families, and reading that culminates yearly in April. The celebration emphasizes the importance of literacy for children of all

Summer Reading Program officially begins Wednesday, June 1st! Using the Reader Zone App participants are able to track their reading and earn prizes for doing so. Paper reading logs will also be available for those who would prefer a physical copy. Program will end on Monday, July 11th! ADULT PROGRAMMING The library has a variety of clubs and groups that meet weekly at the library. Come join the fun! Geodes & Thunder Eggs Presentation - Guy Ditorrice, formerly known as the Oregon Fossil Guy will be joining us at the library for a hands on presentation on geodes and thunder eggs. This event is for all ages with take home hand outs and free rock specimens for our younger patrons, while supplies last. • Saturday - May 21st, 10:30-11:30 am Interactive Movie Nights – Enjoy your favorite movies in a whole new way. Participants are given a FREE bag of goodies and an instruction sheet to follow along with during the movie.
