We Were Featured in Vanity Fair! Read Our Cover Story

March 2022

If you like to browse the magazine rack you might already know this, but if not, let me be the first to tell you: ADLG was featured on the cover of Vanity Fair!

few months ago, and I could hardly believe it. The process was pretty simple. I sat down with them for a quick interview and spilled the beans about exactly what we do here at ADLG and why it’s so important to us. Then, we sent over a few photos of me and the team. Just like that, we were a cover story! Here’s what they wrote:

The Vanity Fair team reached out to us about a feature in their February “Atlanta Woman” issue a

I’m so proud of our team and what we’ve created here at ADLG. I’ve always believed that our Happily Ever After Divorce® process is unique and that our mission is something special, but picking up my copy of Vanity Fair and seeing the team on the cover felt incredibly validating. It’s amazing to see our work recognized. That said, now that we’re Vanity Fair material, the bar has been raised even higher for us! We’re not going to rest on our laurels. I think this is a sign to roll up our sleeves and continue living up to our mission, message, and brand. Fortunately, I feel up to tackling that challenge (read more

about my mindset on Pg. 4), and I know the rest of ADLG’s attorneys, paralegals, and administration staff feel the same way. Our work is cut out for us, and the world is watching. Stay tuned to this newsletter to see what we do next!

One of St. Patrick’s Day’s most popular symbols is a four-leaf clover. In Ireland, these clovers represent luck and good fortune. Each leaf on the clover has a different meaning — faith, hope, love, and success. It’s a tradition to find a four- leaf clover on St. Patrick’s Day and do activities involving this lucky leaf. So, how do you find these good-luck charms, and what can you do with them? HOWTO FIND A 4-LEAF CLOVER Although it may seem difficult, it’s easier than you might think. First, find a dense patch of white clover — near it is where four-leaf clovers reside. They are different from the rest and are often smaller, so keep that in mind when you look for the lucky green clovers. Instead of staring at the patch in close detail and counting leaves, search the patch without focusing on the tiny details. This increases the odds of eyeing a four-leaf clover because the different patterns, shapes, and sizes of these clovers will jump out at you. If you find one, keep looking! There’s a chance another one might be nearby. CLOVER CRAFT Once you find your clover, preserve the luck in it all year by placing it in a picture frame. First, gently press the clover leaves between the pages of a large book for several days to flatten them out. After pressing, you can add green food coloring to your clover to enhance its color. Once it’s dry, clean it and let it sit overnight. Then, place your clover onto acid-free paper, cut to fit the size of a picture frame of your choice. Next, use acid-free glue to keep your clover in place, and finally, seal your frame shut. You now have your personal good luck charm! BUT FIND THE ELUSIVE GOOD-LUCK CHARM FIRST Make a 4-Leaf Clover Keepsake

Searching for a four-leaf clover and creating a keepsake will be a great bonding experience for you and your family. We wish you luck! Happy St. Patrick’s Day!

Leaving on a Jet Plane? 3 ESSENTIAL PACKING TIPS

Many people are considering traveling this spring for the first time since the pandemic started. A lot has changed since 2020, but packing for vacation remains a hassle, and baggage fees haven’t gone anywhere. Here are some essential tips to keep your load as light as possible — physically and mentally.

of thumb is that the personal item needs to fit under the seat in front of you. Don’t bring a small purse or a laptop bag when you can take a large tote or backpack. With the extra room, you can avoid checking another bag. Never check essential items. Lost luggage is the worst way to start a vacation, but it happens. If your luggage is misplaced, you probably won’t get it back that same day. So, you need to pack all essential items, like

Make a list. It’s just as easy to forget things as it is to overpack. Solve both problems at once by creating a packing list in advance. Consider in detail

what you’ll need, and put it in writing. As each item gets added to the suitcase, check it off. Writing everything down creates a system to prevent leaving anything behind. And when it’s all on paper, you’re more likely to notice that you probably don’t need that many pairs of sandals. Use your personal item for extra storage. Airlines generally allow travelers

You’ll be glad to have them if something goes awry. Packing smart will make for a less stressful journey. You can kick back, relax, and enjoy the trip knowing that everything you need is right there in your suitcase, and everything you don’t need is safe at home.

“I was referred to Allen Russell by another friend to assist me in my divorce. He was great to work with every step of the way. He helped me through the process and gave suggestions that made sense, even though at times my mind might have wanted to handle the situation differently. “He was always one step ahead of my partner’s lawyer, and I feel I got a fair settlement. At one point, I wanted to go back to court and he advised me to look at the overall picture and the cost for what I was asking. In the end, once again, his advice made sense, and I saved money by listening to what he said. “I have referred him to other friends and they, too, felt they were well represented. The questions he asked from the beginning, that I will never forget were, ‘What do you truly want from this divorce?’ and ‘Pick one thing you are willing to fight for no matter what.’ Sometimes having a clear vision when a divorce turns your life upside down is the best advice someone can give you. I highly recommend Allen.” –Kellie J.

4 HEALTH BENEFITS OF SPRING-CLEANING IT’S MORE THAN JUST TIDYING UP

Sunday, March 20, is the first day of spring — which means it’s time for some spring-cleaning. Did you know that cleaning is not just about tidying up a physical space? It’s also about improving overall well-being. Here’s how organization and cleanliness can help you in more ways than you might expect. SPRING-CLEANING REDUCES STRESS AND DEPRESSION. Tidiness and mental health are actually connected. Studies have found that having a clean home is directly correlated to happiness and your ability to focus. Anxiety can spike when laundry is piling up, items are strewn everywhere, and papers get scattered on various surfaces within the home. Clearing the clutter is a great way to boost your mood and increase those feel-good hormones. IT PREVENTS ILLNESSES. Doorknobs, refrigerator handles, light switches, countertops, and remote controls are all things we touch many times a day. Cleaning anything that’s used often is one way to reduce the spread of germs. By keeping household surfaces clean, we help thwart the spread of viruses and illnesses. SPRING-CLEANING HELPS YOU BREATHE BETTER. Spring often brings pollen that triggers allergies for many. But pollen isn’t the only thing to blame when people have difficulty breathing. When dust YOUR LIFE’S MOLD IS BROKEN Will You Put It Back Together?

and pet dander build up in your home, your respiratory

system is greatly affected too. Deep-cleaning your

air filters and vents can make breathing effortless — and it’s truly amazing how this can improve your well-being. IT KEEPS YOU MORE ACTIVE. Off the couch and

on your feet! Even just running the vacuum and clearing the clutter from the dining room table will

get you up and moving, which is healthy for your heart and body.

This spring season, putting some elbow grease into your cleaning will benefit you in more ways than one. Trust me, you’ll thank yourself later!

You and I have something big in common — we’ve both officially survived two years of the COVID-19 pandemic. The first two cases of coronavirus in Georgia were confirmed on March 2, 2020. Since then, we’ve lived what feels like a decade compressed into a very short time. I’m not sure what the long-term effects of this pandemic will be. But the culture change we’ve already seen is fascinating to me. It seems comparable to what happened in America during the two world wars. Nothing changed, and yet everything changed at the same time. The whole country lived through a profound mental shift. When I look around now, I see people making much more intentional decisions about their daily lives. Something broke inside all of us in March 2020, and we realized we don’t have to live, work, and raise our families the way we always assumed that we did. The mold is broken, and we never have to put it back together. Personally, I love seeing how people have redefined the way they live, the way they travel, and what they prioritize. Although some things have gone back to “normal,” much of what changed inside of me — and likely inside of you — can never be undone. During the pandemic I discovered a well of strength inside myself that I never realized was there. I was pregnant during that time and running my law firm, and I discovered that I could stretch myself further than I ever believed possible as a mother, spouse, and leader. Around me, many of my friends and family decided they were doing too much before the pandemic. They used quarantine as a way to slow down and never pick those tasks back up. I did the opposite. Thanks to 2020, I’ve set a new bar for myself in life. I’m in fifth gear now and moving into sixth. As tough as these last two years have been, I can’t wait to see what other changes 2022 will bring.
