“Paradise is anywhere

with a kayak” K ayaking is the purest formof freedom and exploration – just you, your kayak and a paddle. Silent, self-propelled progress, with no limit on where you can explore. Naturally, a boat can only take you so far - with anAxopar even further - but a kayak truly opens new avenues of adventure; the shallowest of bays and deepest of caves are all within reach from the seat of a kayak. Axopar’s multipurposr roof rackmeans you can carry multiple kayaks safely and securely without them taking up valuable space on deck. They are easy to launch from the boat, though beginners may want to start from the beach where it’s easier to climb into the kayak. It’s a hobby that is great exercise, transferable to any body of water and the perfect pursuit to enjoy with a group of friends or family. Kayaking can be as challenging or relaxing as you want tomake it and it will take you to places you never thought you would be able to see. To get the most out of kayaking as a beginner, a course to learn the basics – especially how to get in and out of the kayak safely – is a good idea, but this is a hobby that will reward you immediately. It is also sensible to notify someone if you leave for a solo kayak in case there is an emergency. The choice of kayaks is varied. Most people will be familiar with the sit-on-top kayaks that are wider and provide more stability so are ideal for beginners. But there are touring kayaks – long with small cockpits – recreational kayaks that are more suited to calmwater, white water kayaks for the adrenaline junkies, and inflatable kayaks that are the easiest to transport. Nomatter which style you choose, a kayak opens up new realms of adventure.

Essential items for every kayak trip • Notify somone when you leave for your trip in case of an emergency • Sunscreen • Buoyancy aid • Appropriate clothing • Helmet or hat •Whistle or signalling device • Drybag

•Water and snacks • Proper footwear • Self-rescue devices • Maps or compasses • A knife

“Awalk in nature walks the soul back home”

H iking is the most accessible pastime of them all.Young or old, apart from a decent pair of shoes, there is no equipment needed to discover nature on foot. It is an outdoor pursuit that can be enjoyed alone or with friends and family; it’s an opportunity to clear the head and gather thoughts or spend time, in beautiful scenery, surrounded by the people that you cherishmost.Whether it’s following a trail or exploring off the beaten track, a walk in the wild soothes the soul. There are national parks all over the world which are covered by maps and have suggested trails to follow. Some have dedicated areas for night stop-offs and huts that you canmake use of overnight. True exploration takes place on foot. A boat can whisk you to an isolated island or secluded beach but it’s on your own two feet that you can discover hidden treasures and lose yourself in nature’s embrace. A trail may take you a couple of hours at a relaxed pace with a stop for lunch but a day hike acts as more of a challenge and will take planning and some basic equipment to ensure everyone is safe.Whatever style of hike it is, no other pursuit links you quite so intimately with the natural world.

Five tips for a happy hike 1 Hydration is key: Water bottles are fine for shorter walks but hydration packs are useful for longer treks. 2 Pack a change of socks in case the ones you’re wearing get wet.You don’t want to be walking with wet feet, nomatter the distance. 3 You don’t need an exhaustive list of extra kit but a light, foldable waterproof jacket is a good idea. 4 Head out early if you can. Even a short walk in themidday sun can be hard work, so try and get out before it gets too warm and stop in the shade over lunch. 5 Have regular breaks as these give you a chance to catch your breath, top up with water and apply sunscreen.

Top tips for Fat Biking 1 Make sure the bike you are riding is properly sized to you. 2 It’s all about tyre width, not tyre size. Four inch tyres should be just fine for most uses, offering the ‘fat’ experience without the bike feeling sluggish and bouncy. 3 Adjust your air pressure to the conditions. As a general rule, the softer the conditions, the lower the air pressure. Get yourself a digital pressure gauge and start from6psi downwards and adjust levels depending on the terrain. 4 Make sure a fatbike is allowed on the trail you’re riding. Carry with you an compact air pump and a basic quick toolkit. 5 Dress according to weather and terrain and always wear a helmet and supportive shoes. 6 Choose your riding level, start on gravel or sandy beaches and you will find yourself quickly hitting tougher terrain and paths. That’s how easy it is to ride a fatbike. 7 Start with a short trail and as you progress you will see yourself covering larger distances without even breaking a sweat. 8 Bring water or a drink to stay hydrated, don’t forget energy bars or a snack as you will be burning calories without even noticing.

“Between mountains and hills there are endless adventures to be explored” A n electric powered fatbike is the perfect partner on board for the full sensation of freedom andmovement. The Axopar range will take you to locations that you never thought accessible and, once you get there, the e-fatbike will help you explore the new surroundings on land. These unique off-road bikes are taking off amongst outdoors types and for good reason: if a mountain bike is equivalent to a rally car then an e-fatbike is more like a monster truck, able to gobble up the sort of tough terrain that would leave regular bikes floundering. The oversized tyres glide effortlessly and comfortably across everything from sand to snow, loose stones to large boulders and rough forest tracks. The tyres work best deflated to give as much grip as possible depending on the surface and, because of their large footprint, the tyres exert very little pressure on the surface so riders don’t leave scars on trails and beaches. The key to the boost in their popularity is the addition of electric assistance. Non-electric fatbikes require more effort than a mountain bike to ride but electric assistance means you barely feel any resistance when pedalling. With a range of up to 100km in Ecomode you can cover an enormous amount of ground without getting overly tired and, because the bikes are so comfortable across difficult terrain, you needn’t worry about studying the path in front of you to avoid obstacles and instead can keep your head up and enjoy the surrounding scenery. The combination of anAxopar and an e-fatbike ensures nowhere is out of reach.

C ast where your prey’s food will be. A statement that makes a successful fishing expedition sound so simple but anyone who has spent time dangling hooks will know that it is far from the truth. They will also know, however, that luring a fish aboard is not the only reason to go fishing, it is about somuchmore than that. The act of hunting for fish takes you to incredible locations: awe inspiring, wild, beautiful. You lie still, the boat transformed fromhigh-speed transport to a sedate platform, the only noises the lap of the water, the cry of the birds, the spin of the reel. When fishing, even if there is no catch, there is always reward. Fishing suits all ages and abilities and it can be as simple or complicated as you want to make it. Setting crabbing lines off stone quaysides takes very little time andmoney and trawling for mackerel can be done with a cheap rod and some simple lures. Fly fishing takes time tomaster and keen fly fishermen will find their own unique style over time. Specialist equipment is a must, including rods, reels, lines, flies, lures and clothing. Fly fishing quite literally immerses you waist-deep in nature. You, your line and your thoughts. AnAxopar, with its safe, open cockpit, rod holders, storage spaces for fishing gear and shallow draft is a consummate fishing companion, whether you’re trawling for mackerel in Poole, casting flies in Sweden or spearfishing in California. “There’s no losing in fishing. You either catch or you learn”

Top tips for fly fishing: • Take your time to find the right equipment depending on the area you are fishing in. Reels alone can cost up to £1,000 so do your research. • Don’t take to the water straight away. Casting takes time to learn so start off with some practice runs in your garden or the local park. • If you’re a beginner, work your way up from streams and lakes to bays and open sea to build confidence and hone your skills. • Ask for advice from local experts to find the best place to set up. Remember, fish tend to swim to the edge of a current downstream to find their prey. • Don’t forget essential equipment on top of your fishing gear such as: waders, boots, a hat, sunglasses and warm waterproof jacket.

Axopar’s winning formula fused into a 22-footer T his premium 22-footer distills the key Axopar attributes of high quality, performance, handling and excellent value for money into the most compact package yet. Despite its taut dimensions the boat is every inch an Axopar and a true driver’s boat with a twin-stepped deep-vee hull for a smooth ride and outstanding handling. This is pure Axopar, condensed. A starter boat with the edge The hull is designed to be safe, stable and assured to suit those new to boating but with engine options up to 200hp the 22 is still a fun and rewarding boat to drive. The classic Axopar hull form ensures that the boat inspires confidence out at sea but is easy to manoeuvre in tight spaces with minimal windage thanks to its sleek lines. Fully trailerable The ability to trail the 22 Spyder so easily on the road makes it ideal for adventure. The boat’s slender beam and relatively low weight make it an easy craft to tow but there are no compromises when it comes to seakeeping. The stiffness and integrity of the hull is paramount. Bespoke to you As with the rest of the Axopar range, the deck layout can be tailored to each customer’s wishes. The 22 Spyder has three aft deck layouts: standard is a forward-facing rear bench with options of either U-shaped seating for six people that converts into a sun pad or a multi-storage compartment – ideal for watersports equipment – with seating. An optional enclosed toilet compartment forward will be of comfort to guests during day trips.

Axopar x JOBE Sports - A collaboration like no other C ombining two of the most innovative brands in boating and watersports creates a joint force that knows no boundaries. There is a passion for fun on the water shared between Axopar and JOBE and a collective mission to create the best watersports experience for the consumer and something truly unique. The Axopar x JOBE, based on the 22 Spyder, is a special edition tailored to its matching watersports products, bringing the best of both worlds together. With every boat follows a collection of JOBE watersports gear including a stand-up paddleboard with paddle, matching life vests, a specially developed towable water toy that doubles as a cushion in the bow and a unique foredeck hammock. All Jobe boats features unique color schemes and graphics kits finished with a super grippy EVA decking from Jobe. The optional Exploration pack adds Jobe water skis, a knee board and wakeboard plus bindings.

A turn-key solution By using an industry first three-part split-

mould production technique, the design team has maximised hull width for optimum stability and ease of movement on board while retaining the Axopar look. This method has resulted in significant cost savings both in production and delivery, where the 22 will fit inside a fixed-sized container for transport from factory to customer so the boat is ready to go quite literally out of the box.

OWNERS ADVENTURES

Sharing the adventure For Jim Inglese, his partner

J im Inglese has enjoyed life on the water his whole life. From lifeguarding on the beach in his youth to living aboard a sailing boat for 11 years and freediving and spearfishing in his free time, he is happiest at sea. It was during a trip aboard his current sailing boat around his favourite cruising destination of Catalina Island that he chanced upon anAxopar 28 Cabin and knew that it was the boat for him, his girlfriend Christina, and their young son.“It completely caught our eye and we thought it was gorgeous,” Jim says.“We believed the protection from the cabin would be fantastic if we wanted a powerboat; the more comfortable you are the more likely you are to use the boat.” The family’s 28 Cabin, One Breath , has a single 300hpMercuryV8 and is the perfect tool for blasting across to the island from their base inMarina del Rey to go freediving and spearfishing.“The trip used to take us 4-5 hours eachway on the sailing boat but nowwe can get over there quickly and change location in no time,”Jimexplains. “When you’ve been freediving and spent a fewhours in a cold wet suit, there’s nothing like stepping into a warmcabin.” The simplicity of running the Axopar has allowed Jim to bring the family along on his adventures and now it’s something that they can all share. He says,“Christina wasn’t that interested in the sailing boat because there is toomuch going on but she loves driving the Axopar. Not only has she seen it as something she can do but she is excited about it and seeking mastery. She is empowered by it and loves using it on her own.” Often, for longer trips away, Jimwill pilot the sailing boat over to the island and Christina will follow in the Axopar so they can use their sloop as a base and the Axopar as quick transport to the diving and hunting grounds.“We load up with spear guns, weights, knives, suits and snorkels,” Jim explains,“and catchYellow Tail,White Sea Bass and lobster and, thanks to the fillet tray and grill we’ve had added to the boat, we can prep and eat them right there and then - there’s nothing like it.” For Jim, what he loves most about the Axopar, is how it has become a vehicle for them to forge unforgettable memories as a family unit.“My boy loves it, he was four years old and out on the water and at five he is spearing fish at 15ft, it’s amazing to see,” Jim says. The love of the sea, and boating, is being passed down to the next generation. Follow themon Instagram: @axopar28onebreath

Turning heads in beautiful Western Australia Peter and JasmynWright had a tight brief to follow in upgrading to their Axopar 37, Axtasea

T he waters around Perth,WesternAustralia are stunningly beautiful but the sea conditions can be challenging. In the summer months, an afternoon breeze known colloquially as the Fremantle Doctor can pick up and bring with it a menacing chop that can quickly

PERTH, AUSTRALIA 31.9505° S, 115.8605° E

make life uncomfortable. For Peter and JasmynWright, the threat of these conditions and the requirement of a very low draft to access their favourite anchorages led them to the door of the Axopar 37.

“It’s a versatile head turner,” says Jasmyn,“but Peter was concerned whether its hull would be able to handle the conditions here inWesternAustralia.”Peter had done a lot of research to find a replacement for their Quintrex 620 but it was when the Axopar dealer Eyachts set himup with a sea trial of the 37 in Sydney that the penny truly dropped. Jumping waves off PalmBeach, Peter knew that the 37 could handle whateverWesternAustralia could throw at it. Since delivery at the end of last year, the couple has put 70 hours on the twinMercury 300hpV8s using the boat most weeks on their own or with friends and their adult children.“Part of the reason we chose the aft cabin option instead of the wetbar is because we wanted friends and family to be able to stay with us,” Jasmyn explains.“The other part is that you get the sun pad on top.” The couple make regular trips to the islands from their base in Royal PerthYacht Club, where they like to beach the boat or anchor in 3ft 3in (1m) of water, hence why the shallow draft of Axopar’s twin-stepped hull and the outboards were so important. The Axopar allows them to get to areas that larger boats simply can’t.A favourite spot is Rottnest Island, home of the Quokka, where the snorkeling is outstanding. Peter and Jasymn like to explore the area by canoe and are in the process of fitting racks to the boat’s T-top so they can carry their canoes more easily. The 37 was a big jump from their previous boat but Eyachts took the time to help Peter learn how to handle the twin outboards at slow speed.“I feel really confident handling the boat now,”he says.“I even took it into the slings when she was lifted out for her service this year, last

Axopar 28 - The best just got better T he 28 is the model that set Axopar on a path to success. Launched in 2014, it changed the perception of sportboats in this size range thanks to its outstanding versatility, handling and value for money. Seven years onAxopar has sought to update this award- winning model, using the feedback from customers to fine-tune the design and update the options list to draw the 28 closer to the flagship 37 in look and feel. Among the most significant changes on board is the all- new helm console, featuring a full suite of Simrad glass bridge multi-function displays with integratedMercury engine information. This new design presents vital information clearly with a cleaner, more cohesive aesthetic. Exterior updates include a new cabin roof design and the option of a roof rack to carry customers’ adventure equipment, be that boards, boats or bikes. The 28’s rub rail protection has also been improved and the bathing platforms extended.
