A LOOK INSIDE THE BADER SCOTT BOOK CLUB DO YOU BELIEVE IN THE POWER OF READING?

I ’m always a bit sad to see fall slip away each year. Not only do the last leaves hitting the ground signal winter’s chill is approaching, but they also mark the end of peak reading season — which is a real shame in my book. One of my favorite things to do in September, October, and November is camp out on the porch with a good story. The weather is almost always a perfect 60–75 degrees, and if I can get a fire going and the bugs decide to leave me alone, the ambiance is spectacular. I’m a firm believer in the transformational power of reading, and, as December is designated “Read a New Book Month,” I thought this would be a perfect time to shed some light on my favorite hobby. Not only am I a big reader myself, but I’ve done my best to promote the practice at the office by stepping up to run an in-house nonfiction book club for Bader Scott’s employees. It’s been a real success so far, and Seth and I are proud to see our staff learning more about themselves and each other as they read together.

from the various books we’re reading, and those strategies have helped us grow as people, lawyers, and business owners.

Right now, I’m reading “The Me I Want to Be” by John Ortberg, which is a great example of that learning curve. It explains

that if we spend all of our time and energy being who others want us to be, or who we think we’re supposed to be, we lose sight of our true, authentic selves. Reading it has already reaffirmed who I am, made me more comfortable in my skin, and given me some ideas on what to work on for the future! On a broader scale, the power of reading can be summed up by this quote from Wayne Dyer: “If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.” By immersing yourself in an author’s mindset, you can see the world and everyone in it from a new perspective. I’m always working on stepping into other people’s shoes, and I think reading has helped me with that and really strengthened my relationships with my clients, colleagues, friends, wife, and kids. The things I’ve learned through self-help books have also made me a more calm, collected adult — I shut down that emotional rollercoaster a long time ago, and I’m a better man for it! Next time you call Bader Scott Injury Lawyer or visit our offices, know that everyone here is making an effort to put themselves in your shoes in order to solve your legal problems as best we can. If we can help improve your life today, give us a call at 404-888-8888 or visit BaderScott.com.

“I’m a firm believer in the transformational power of reading, and as December is designated “Read a New Book Month,” I thought this would be a perfect time to shed some light on my favorite hobby.”

We just finished reading “The Miracle Morning: The Not-So-Obvious Secret Guaranteed to Transform Your Life Before 8 a.m.” by Hal Elrod, and I think his tips for how to set yourself up for success each morning have helped us all be a bit more productive. The “Life SAVERS,” he recommends making time for every morning are silence, affirmations, visualization, exercise, reading, and scribe (writing). Of those, reading tops the list for me personally. I’m a huge fan of self- help books, and over the years, the advice I’ve gleaned reading them has helped me on my journey to better myself. Seth feels the same way, and I think that shared passion for constant self-improvement is a big part of why we work so well together. We’re always swapping tips and advice

LESSONS FAMILIES CAN LEARN FROM ‘A CHRISTMAS STORY’ MORE THAN JUST ‘YOU’LL SHOOT YOUR EYE OUT!’

In 1983, one movie introduced Red Ryder BB guns, fishnet-clad leg lamps, and bright red bars of soap into America’s everlasting Christmas mythos. Now, over 35 years later, “A Christmas Story” continues to delight audiences every holiday season with timeless lessons for viewers of all ages. In a story where kids are clever and kind, and parents are bumbling and wise, “A Christmas Story” has more lessons to offer families than just, “You’ll shoot your eye out!”

slowly or die as quickly as the spin of a decoder pin, but parents can always be there to remind children about what’s really important during the Christmas season.

YOUR KIDS ARE LISTENING TO YOU (OH, FUDGE!).

SOMETIMES ‘DISASTERS’ LEAD TO NEW ADVENTURES.

They aren’t always obedient, but that doesn’t mean they’re not listening. After Ralphie lets slip the “queen mother of dirty words” in front of his father, the narrator reminisces about first hearing that word from his old man — possibly when he was trying to get their furnace to work. He doesn’t admit this to his mother, but it’s a lesson for parents everywhere that kids may hear more than they let on.

Christmas Day can be hectic, and, in the hubbub of it all, sometimes disaster can feel inevitable. Ralphie’s parents certainly experience their fair share of disaster in hilarious fashion when the Bumpus Hounds destroy their holiday turkey and leave nothing but the heavenly aroma. But, when Ralphie’s father takes them out to eat at a local Chinese restaurant, it creates a whole new Christmas tradition for the Parker family. Our holiday mishaps, no matter how tragic, are rarely the end of the world.

KIDS WON’T BELIEVE IN MAGIC FOREVER.

Magical stories about Santa or even “Little Orphan Annie’s” Secret Society fill children’s hearts with wonder but won’t enchant them forever. Belief in certain parts of the Christmas season can fade

Consider one final tip: Do not stick your tongue to any flagpoles this winter! Happy holidays! MEET NOAH BADER OUR LEADING WORKERS’ COMPENSATION ATTORNEY

Noah Bader is a powerhouse on our legal team. Right now, he’s leading our metrics in cases closed on behalf of our clients, and we consider ourselves extremely lucky to have had him on board for the last six and a half years. Though his record is impressive, Noah says the secrets to his success are simple: focus on relationships, be yourself, and always keep moving. “I think that probably what sets me apart more than anything is I’m pretty good at building and maintaining relationships, both within the business and with my clients,” he says. “Across the board, it’s about relationship building. That’s what lead me to the success I’ve been having producing and settling cases.” Noah takes time to form bonds not only with his clients, but also with opposing attorneys, insurance adjusters, and everyone else he interacts with on each case. He’s found that establishing goodwill from the start goes a long way toward keeping the peace when things get tough, and it’s a strategy that has paid off. Being authentic in that pursuit helps, too. Instead of trying to project the image of a stereotypical lawyer, Noah says his strategy is just to be himself.

“The way that I practice is very ordinary. I don’t make it more complex than it has to be,” he says. “ ... I always tell people at the firm I’m training, or I’m around, or the best thing you can do for yourself and your business is to be yourself. Be exactly who you are, and everyone will see that and respond in a positive way.” To top it all off, Noah always gives 110% of his effort to every case. He jumps quickly from task to task and never wastes a moment of the work day.

“It’s like controlled chaos, but I don’t know any other way to do it!” he says.

When he isn’t at the office, you can either find Noah pumping iron at Orange Theory or at home spending time with his wife, Madeline; his 4-year-old twins, Alexander and Eleanor; and his 10-year-old French bulldog, Gigi.

Noah, from all of us here on the Bader Scott team, thank you for your outstanding work!

CELEBRATE THE SEASON WITH US! BADER SCOTT SPONSORS NAVIDANDO, HOSTS A TOY DRIVE FOR ATLANTA FAMILIES

Our team here at Bader Scott Injury Lawyers works hard, but we also give hard and play hard!

To continue giving back, the Bader Scott Foundation will also conduct a toy drive this year. We’ll be collecting toys for kids. At the end of the drive, all of the toys will be donated to local shelters here in Atlanta! Lastly, in addition to celebrating with our community, we plan to host our Annual Bader Scott Injury Lawyers Holiday Celebration on Saturday, Dec. 21, in Piedmont Park’s Graystone Hall. As always, it will be a red-carpet event where we’ll celebrate the wins we’ve brought home for our clients, show our partners holiday gratitude, and honor our staff during an annual awards ceremony. We’re so excited to be able to spread holiday cheer not only beyond our organization, but inside of it as well. If you can, please join us in celebrating the season and giving back to the people of Atlanta by contributing to our toy drive. With just a bit of effort and time, you can make a child’s Christmas! If you have any questions about how to give, call us today at (404) 888-8888.

This year, we’re honored to spread holiday cheer in our hometown by sponsoring NaviDando, a holiday event organized by Telemundo Atlanta. During the annual event, several Latino families are invited to experience the joy of the holidays with a delicious meal, entertaining circus performance, and, of course, time with Santa Claus himself. Traditionally, the families selected are nominated by the Telemundo audience, which focuses on those who could use some additional holiday cheer while going through tough times. Last year, families struggling with deportation issues, economic hardships, and health and mobility problems were given the opportunity to enjoy the event, which was aimed at lifting their spirits. This is the second time this year Bader Scott Injury Lawyers has partnered with Telemundo to celebrate members of the Latino community. We were also a proud sponsor of the Telemundo Atlanta “Heroes” event in October and look forward to opportunities to work together again in the future.

Yurts: Glamping at Its Finest

GLAMPING IN BEAUTIFUL LOCATIONS YURT SWEET YURT

SPRUCE HOLE YURT, COLORADO

The allure of the great outdoors calls to many, but pitching a tent and cooking over a fire isn’t for everyone. If that describes you, consider the yurt: a small, permanent structure often outfitted with electricity, plumbing, and other modern amenities. Expertly nestled in remote locations, they provide comforts of home in the midst of nature. Here are just a few around the United States available for rent. For those new to the glamping scene, this is a great choice for an easy transition. With picturesque views of the Pacific Ocean, the Treebones Resort in Big Sur has an array of spaciously comfortable yurts to choose from. The resort has heated pools, a cozy lodge, and even a sushi bar. About an hour up the coastline, you can find a few shops, restaurants, and art galleries if you decide you’ve gotten your dose of nature for the day. TREEBONES RESORT, CALIFORNIA

Nestled in the San Juan Mountains about 10 miles north of New Mexico, this yurt is a snow-lover’s paradise. Skiing, snowshoeing, and hiking trails are plentiful in this backcountry location. At the end of a chilly day, come home to comfy beds, cooking supplies, and decor made to feel like you’re camping — but with sturdy walls to keep out the cold.

FALLS BROOK YURTS, NEW YORK

For the glampers who truly want to get away, hike just under 1 mile into the woods of the Adirondack Mountains to discover rustic yurts beckoning you to cook over a fire or bundle up with a book. At night, the yurt’s domed skylight offers excellent stargazing. For those keen on winter activities, skiing and snowshoeing trails start right outside the front door. In the summer, enjoy hiking, fishing, and swimming.
