Evidence Supporting the Use of Physical Therapy for Hip, Knee, and Leg Pain Relief: One of the most important aspects of physical therapy treatments for those suffering from lower extremity pain or injury is an exercise program paired with manual techniques. Our physical therapists are movement experts who can provide you with the necessary

In fact, this is demonstrated in a 2017 study published by the National Institutes of Health , titled “Effectiveness of Manual Therapy Combined With Physical Therapy in Treatment of Patellofemoral Pain Syndrome: Systematic Review.” This study used randomized controlled trials to test the efficacy of manual and physical therapy treatments used in tandem with one another for patients with patellofemoral pain. The systematic review yielded positive results, verifying that manual and physical therapy treatments did indeed provide success in pain relief and improved function, especially with the strengthening of hip and knee muscles when applied to the full kinetic chain. While this study focuses primarily on patellofemoral pain, it can be applied to any discomfort felt in the hips, knees, or legs. • 2 apples • 6 celery stalks

• 2 limes or lemons • 2 inches of ginger

Prepare beets, carrots, apples, celery, limes (or lemons) and ginger by chopping into smaller pieces before placing into a juicer. As the skin of a beet is packed with antioxidants and nutrients, it is recommended to leave the skin on the beet. Beet skin and lemon peel (if using) have strong flavors, so you could also prepare half with skin and half peeled to adjust to the flavor, or simply peel all if preferred. EXERCISE ESSENTIALS Use This Exercise to Strengthen Hips & Glutes Clamshells Lie on your side with your hips at 45 degrees and your knees bent to 90 degrees. Your heels are in line with your head, torso, and hips. Rotate your hips and knees apart (like a clamopening) while remaining contact with your heels. Keep the top hip parallel with the ceiling. Lower your leg to the starting position and repeat on other side. You should feel a stretch in the outer hip of your top leg.

Lyanne joined Fi rst Colony Aquat ic and Rehabilitation in 2019 after receiving her Doctor of Physical Therapy from Texas Woman’s University in Houston, TX. She received her Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from The University of Houston.

Lyanne was a personal trainer and CrossFit level 1 trainer before becoming a physical therapist. In her spare time, Lyanne likes to workout and spend time enjoying the outdoors.
