The Woodcote Park clubhouse and estate, set in 350 acres of beautiful Downs countryside in Surrey, features two 18-hole golf courses, four squash courts, six floodlit tennis courts, a modern gym, an indoor swimming pool, treatment rooms, restaurants, bars and accommodation. One of the highlights of Club membership is the wide range of sporting and social activities, alongside the extensive events calendar for the enjoyment of members and their guests. Around 200 events are held each year across both clubhouses, ranging from annual favourites such as London Motor Week culminating in the internationally renowned London to Brighton Veteran Car Run, the Epsom Derby, the Midsummer Drive-In and the November Fireworks, to exclusive ballet, opera & jazz performances. For members looking to take up a new challenge or brush up on an existing one, Club activities range from sub aqua to squash, cycling to chess, or the book club to billiards. You may be interested in the dinners and lecture evenings, or getting involved with the Club’s impressive, motoring and motor sports heritage. Professional tuition is on hand for taking up new interests, and beginners are just as welcome as those keen to take their activities further through the Club’s regular competitions and tournaments. The Royal Automobile Club has a wide range of activities and events for a diverse range of members, fitting for an institution known as ‘the UK spiritual home of motoring.’

About the Club -

The Club continued to campaign for the rights of the motorist, including introducing the first driving licences. In 1999 the Club demerged the motoring services and established an independent body, the Motor Sports Association (MSA), to govern motor sport in the UK. Motoring remains at the heart of the Royal Automobile Club. We continue to develop and support motor sports through our promotion of motoring events and the Club’s representation on the Motor Sports Association (MSA), the Federation Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) and the RAC Foundation. Today, the Royal Automobile Club is one of the foremost private members’ clubs in the world with a diverse membership, an extensive events programme, and two beautiful and unique clubhouses, alongside first-class accommodation, dining and sports facilities.

In 1907, King Edward VII awarded the Club our royal title, which we hold to this day, sealing the Club’s status as Britain’s longest-standing and most influential motoring organisation. The Club promoted the first pre-war British Grand Prix at Brooklands in 1926. After the war, it was staged at Silverstone in 1948.

Woodcote Park - The 350-acre Woodcote Park estate has the beautiful setting of the Epsom Downs. Perfect for golf enthusiasts and families, the clubhouse offers a variety of restaurants, bars and private dining, plus meeting rooms, lounges and a billiards room. The two immaculately kept 18-hole golf courses and grounds are complemented by a modern sports complex, Cedars, complete with a swimming pool, squash and tennis courts, relaxing treatment rooms, and a gym. The Club has 22 bedrooms, all of which have been designed with rich, warm colours in a country house style.

The Pall Mall clubhouse offers a comfortable environment where our members can relax with their guests. With 106 bedrooms and a choice of restaurants, lounges and bars, ranging from the opulence of the Great Gallery to the Art Deco splendour of the Brooklands Room, the Club caters for all requirements. There are also seven impressive private dining and meeting rooms, the Simms Centre for business and a motoring library, while the sports facilities on offer include a modern gym, Turkish baths, squash courts, treatment rooms, and the Grecian-style swimming pool.

The Royal Automobile Club is seeking to make the appointment of a Project Manager to lead a range of estate development projects across its impressive and diverse property portfolio in London and Surrey. The Royal Automobile Club was founded in 1897 by Frederick Richard Simms with the primary purpose of promoting the motor car and its place in society. Today, the Club is one of the foremost private members’ clubs in the world with a diverse membership, an extensive events programme, and two beautiful and unique clubhouses, alongside first-class accommodation, dining and sports facilities. Reporting to the Head of Capital Projects, the Project Manager will lead the development, procurement and delivery of a range of development, refurbishment, fit-out and conversation projects across the Club’s estate portfolio consisting of the prestigious Pall Mall clubhouse in Central London and the 350-acre Woodcote Park estate located in the beautiful setting of the Epsom Downs. Projects are challenging and diverse, with values typically ranging from £100k to £5m in value but with the opportunity to play an integral role in the major capital project to develop Woodcote Park. The successful candidate will possess relevant experience in a project management role with responsibility for managing complex construction and property projects varying from small scale refurbishment schemes to large scale capital projects. You will have strong commercial and technical skills, with demonstrable experience of brief development, design management and contract procurement and administration. You will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the confidence and authority to lead and manage stakeholder groups and project teams. This is an exciting opportunity to take on a client side project management role with across an interesting, diverse and technically challenging estate portfolio. To work with the Head of Capital Projects as part of a small Capital Projects team and to manage a variety of capital projects and infrastructure improvements in scale and volume and to deliver a 10- year capital infrastructure development plan for both Clubhouses, ensuring effective outcomes on time, within budget and representing value for money. Introduction: The Royal Automobile Club is one of the foremost private clubs in the world. It Is “One Club with Two Clubhouses”: The Pall Mall Town Clubhouse which is a purpose-built fine Edwardian building, equipped with exceptional dining, accommodation, sports and leisure facilities, and the Woodcote Park Country Clubhouse, set in a 350-acre parkland estate with sports facilities and two 18-hole golf courses. The Estates are a complex mixture of ageing grade two listed buildings finished to a high quality and equipped with modern contemporary facilities which operate 24/7 and have a high usage and turnover. The Club has a capital refurbishment programme to maintain the assets and an ambitious development programme to enhance the facilities for the benefit of the members. The Club in June 2015 achieved planning permission for a substantial development at Woodcote Park, potentially involving new builds and major refurbishments including families’ facilities a spa and sports complex and a reconfigured clubhouse with conference and heritage capabilities. This will need to be woven together with improvements to the car parks, roads, paths and woodlands, opening up nature trails, activity and external games areas and a golf driving range.

Main Accountabilities: • Implement rigorous project management procedures, gaining key stakeholder confidence and enhancing their understanding of project progress. • Attendance at Club Working Groups, providing information on progress and budget. • Develop effective communication for key stakeholders, to discuss project phasing and progress. • Prepare and deliver reports on designated capital projects under your control to the House Committee and Head of Capital Projects. • Project management of a series of capital projects, from concept to completion. • Assist in examining external fabric of all buildings and services and organising major replacement as necessary. • Manage, monitor and review the work of Contractors and Consultants though out the life of the project. • Directing project actions, including, reporting project progress, monitoring costs and acceptance of project specific procedures. • Maintain records and files, organising archiving of closed projects as appropriate. • Communicate as appropriate and record key information and lessons learned from each project for review by Head of Capital Projects. Department Budget • Assist the Head of Capital Projects in preparing an annual costed capital expenditure programme of works, ensuring minimal impact on the Club’s operations. • Deliver projects within budget, highlighting risks at an early stage, reporting to the Head of Capital Projects. • Monitor contract variations from a cost perspective and participate in value engineering meetings when appropriate. • Evaluate requests for payment and sign off invoices to Contractors and Consultants. Service Quality • Assist in proposing continuous improvement ideas for all aspects of the estate management operation to minimise the environmental impact and reduce the carbon footprint. • Ensure each project has clearly defined objectives, aims and outcomes and project milestones are carefully planned to reduce or mitigate clashes/conflict. Health and Safety/Compliance • Responsible for maintaining levels of health and safety in accordance with legislation, building regulations and Club policies. • Ensure Clubhouse rules and bye-laws are adhered to at all times, e.g. dress code, mobile phone usage etc. • Attend all Fire and Health and Safety training as specified by the Head of Capital Projects. General • Carry out any other duties appropriate to the grade and scope of the position and any other reasonable duties as directed by the Head of Capital Projects.
