Pros This was an amazing experience overall. The birthday balloons were set up and the macarons were a great surprise. Everyone greeted me by name even though it was my first time there, so I can only imagine how unique and tailored the experience would have been if I were a regular visitor. Cons The check-in process was a bit confusing as the funds were not paid for (my friend made the reservation for me). So once that was sorted, it was all good. There seemed to be a disconnect between the hotel and the restaurant in the beginning. The restaurant staff were unaware of the dine and dream package that we had, along with the allergies that the concierge made a note of. Luckily we did mention them again. A few of the light switches in the bedroom (sconce closest to the window) didn't seem to be working 100% I found your room service menu limited. Your restaurant had no options for just coffee and sandwich. The sofa in the room was uncomfortable and the desk chair tilted far back if you leaned back. The staff were great and the service very good 浴室水溫不 夠 水龍頭出水很少 Water pressure is not enough and the water is not hot enough especially is wintertime now, during the shower I can feel the cold water comes out Our experience was good. Though other than the fantastic pillow I got brought up from the pillow menu Im not sure what makes a 5 star hotel. I mean the marble floors in the bathroom were cool I guess. But the room had water damage on the walls just like lower star hotels. And when I turned on the bathroom lights the lighting driver in the closet buzzed like a 7-11 store sign, not exactly relaxing. It was tidy and everyone was friendly, but other than that I duno what value there is to justify a high price. I have had just as good of experiences at far cheaper places. Also, there was no complementary breakfast!?! Even the MOTELs Ive stayed at have fruit or that spinning waffle maker or cereals. Coffee maker was difficult to use and was not working properly. Bed was drooping in the middle and the mattress felt old I was a bit disappointed this time. There were no slippers in the room, one of the chairs had stains on the seat and there was a ripped hole in one of the sheets near where it was tucked in. None of this seems up to the standards of a 5 star hotel as the Shangri-La has been in the past. Honestly the service was exceptional the only thing that I would say was the pool in the hot tub could have been a lot more warmer and maybe open the little bit later.. It was so nice to be in a world class hotel again after years of not traveling. Shangri-la is one of my favorites. The Vancouver location is a class act. Some refurbishing is needed -- finishes on the elevators, etc. -- but it is truly one of the best in Vancouver.

The reservation was covered by a friend, but on arrival, there was a disconnect with what had actually happened. The staff were able to reach out to my friend to get the payment sorted out within a day I found (and used without knowing) a soiled blanket in my drawer. They replaced it and cleaned my room, and left a box of macaroons. But feels like this type of gross expereince deserved more than that. I'm still a little disgusted by it. After checking out we expressed our concern regarding how awful the mattress was on the pull out couch and that our milk in the morning had a hair in it. All the gentleman said was he was sorry about it and would let house keeping know

13-03-2022 16:00 Noted in my comments above. Also have not yet received my folio via email - will retrieve it myself. 23-03-2022 15:00 One of the sockets was not working, the on-site maintenance come and resolve the issue.

I stayed at the hotel on the 25th, my overall experience was good. However, I got back to my suite around 8pm that night, and two hotel maids were in my suite changing bed sheets and cleaning the room, which I didn’t ask for, and I found it very weird
