While some causes are more severe than others, a physician can identify each. As the body ages, joints become inflamed. Cartilage may wear down, reducing the “buffer” between bones. In some cases, limited blood flow may cause bone tissue death, or necrosis. If you’re experiencing redness, inflammation and immobilized joints,

While leg pain is noticeable by a slew of symptoms, several stick out. Aching or stiffness around the hip, groin, back or thigh may be a sign of deeper problems. She earned a PhD in Biological Sciences from Louisiana State University in 2009. After working 7 years as a research scientist and professor, Carolyn’s love for science and passion for physical activity lead her to return to graduate school to study physical therapy. She attended Des Moines University and graduated with a doctorate in physical therapy in 2019. Carolyn enjoys working with orthopedic patients as well as those suffering from neurological conditions. Carolyn has three years of clinical experience in running gait analysis and has a special interest inrehabilitatingandpreventingrunning injuries. Whileat Des Moines University, she performed research in validating gait analysis protocols and worked for an expert in treating plantar fasciitis. She coauthored a publication demonstrating the strong linkagebetween lowbackpainandplantar fasciitis. Carolynenjoys treating patients from the ground-up, top-down, inside-out and outside-in to improve overall physical andmental well-being and assist them in achieving their personal goals.

Aquatic therapy reduces the force of gravity on the body making it easier and less painful to move, therefore improving range of motion. Pool temperature is in the upper 80’s allowing tissue and muscles to relax and become more flexible. The hydrostatic pressure (or force of the water) can improve circulation and decrease blood pressure. Aquatic therapy can also increase strength, pulmonary function, bone density and circulation. It can also decrease depression and medication intake due to pain as well as improving mood and quality of life. INGREDIENTS • 1/4 c. extra-virgin olive oil • 3 tbsp. freshly chopped cilantro • Juice of 3 limes, divided • kosher salt • Freshly ground black pepper

• 1 lb. large shrimp, peeled and deveined • 1/4 head red cabbage, shredded • 1/4 c. mayonnaise • 1 tbsp. sriracha • 4 medium tortillas

DIRECTIONS In a small bowl, mix together olive oil, cilantro, and 1/3 of the lime juice. Season with salt and pepper. Add shrimp to a baking dish and pour over mixture. Toss until completely coated and let marinate 20 minutes. Meanwhile, make slaw: In a large bowl, toss cabbage with mayo, remaining lime juice and sriracha. Season with salt. Heat grill to high. Skewer shrimp and grill until charred, 3 minutes per side. Grill tortillas until charred, 1 minute per side. Serve shrimp in tortillas with slaw.
