WELCOME

November 11, 2020

Dear friends and colleagues,

When we gathered last year for the 16th annual Pennsylvania Conference Women, none of us dreamt that we would meet virtually this year. But given realities of 2020, we are both grateful and excited to be able to welcome you to

for the the

first-ever virtual Pennsylvania Conference for Women!

We’re grateful because more than 10,000 of you have come together today in a powerful sign of how important this community is. After all, when women come together—to learn, be inspired, and grow in our resilience and ability to lead— anything is possible. That’s why our 2020 theme is Leading the Way Forward. We’re also excited because our team has designed a very special experience for you—with extraordinary speakers, outstanding experts to support you in your journey, and abundant opportunities to connect. This Veterans Day, we are honored today to recognize two remarkable women veterans in our Target Storytellers contest this Veterans Day—and to honor all the nearly two million women veterans who have served our country. Finally, we would like to share the news that, thanks to you and our sponsors, we have been able to donate $175,000 to women-owned businesses—specifically, restaurants across Pennsylvania. This initiative is part of our commitment to women supporting women. This industry has been particularly hard hit by COVID, and we hope that our support will help ease the burden on the 70 restaurants that received funds as they continue their work of nourishing our communities.

With thanks to our sponsors and attendees who made this possible, we wish you a day to remember!

LEADERSHIP Emotional Agility: Adapting Your Leadership Strategy in Difficult Times

Emotional agility is a key skillset that enables you to remain curious, courageous, and values-committed—and improve your ability to lead. Yet in times of great challenges such as those we are facing today, you may find your agility replaced with rigidity, stifled creativity, and weakened relationships—all of which change how you lead. In this session, Dr. Susan David, the creator of the concept of emotional agility, will explore the habits that enable people to be resilient and thrive, lead teams, and change a work culture. She will inspire you to stop getting caught up in your thoughts and emotions, and cultivate emotional agility in you and your team. Join this workshop for actionable steps to develop your own communication style. Her methods are rooted in trust, respect, independence, collaboration, and kindness: simple lessons with radical results.
