THE ‘FAMILY’ IN BEAUMONT FAMILY DENTISTRY
SECOND GENERATION AND COUNTING
Family is one of the biggest reasons why I entered into dentistry; my mom helped build and nurture that interest, and I’m very grateful for that. I also enjoy working with my family at Beaumont Family Dentistry. My mom, grandmother, Kyle, my wonderful wife, Hannah, and I all work together to bring the best services we can to our patients. My grandmother is especially great at looking after our patients. She makes follow-up calls, sends birthday cards, and provides the front desk with plenty of goodies for everyone to enjoy. At times, it can be hard to work with your family, but it’s also very rewarding. We have the same goals and targets to aim for, and we can communicate very efficiently. While I don’t work directly with my mom or Kyle, it is reassuring that they’re there if I need to call them and bounce ideas off of them. Hannah and I have a 2-year-old son, Luke, who, similar to when I was growing up, has a presence at the office. When Luke was younger, he was in the office more than he has been recently. When he was around 1 year old, he’d be there at least once a week. Now, he’ll come by every couple of weeks for a few hours to run around, but he mostly spends his days at school.
My sister, Dr. Kyle, and I grew up in my mom’s dental office. One of the first memories I have is working with my mom when we were 4 or 5 years old, doing little things here and there like sweeping the floor or cleaning up. I’ve been coming to Mom’s office since I was in a crib, and I’ve been told people in the office would take turns coming to check on me while I was there. When I was 16 and in high school, I started doing more around the office. I would do some lab work and assist with any odd job they needed me to do. This continued into college, although I worked more during the summer than the rest of the school year. Despite being so engulfed in dentistry growing up, I wanted to pursue a career as a physician, specifically a surgeon. That desire continued well into my junior year of college but changed abruptly while I was working on a research project. The surgeon I talked to for the project left a strong impression that they didn’t enjoy what they were doing. They were practically trying to talk me out of pursuing that career. I turned my attention to dentistry, which was an easy transition. Today, I’m very happy with the choice I made to follow this career path. I really enjoy what I do, and I have a lot of fun going to work and helping my patients every day. Being a dentist is much more rewarding than anything else I could have done.

second son in early November, and I think it’ll be nice for Luke to have a friend and a younger brother. Hannah and I are looking forward to having another son and watching him grow just as we have with Luke. Just as Luke and I were welcomed into the dentistry field by family, there’s no doubt in my mind that my second son will also be embraced by everyone in the office. –Ryan Golibersuch

OUR HAMBURG TEAM THE EXTENSIVE TRAINING AND DEDICATION OF OUR STAFF Tracie Stone works with Kristin Lester and Ashley Mams at Beaumont Family Dentistry’s Hamburg location as part of the reliable and trusted restorative staff. Their work reflects the philosophy of the goals set by each of our locations and teams, which is to provide one-of-a-kind service to our patients and ensure optimal oral and overall health. The restorative staff has over 50 years of experience combined, and it’s this knowledge that gives them the ability to assist our doctors in any way they can, as well as advocate for each patient’s well-being. However, dentistry is an ever-evolving field that requires persistence and dedication, two elements our team prides themselves on. “About once a week, our whole team gets together and goes through a comprehensive training with our doctors,” Tracie says. This training ensures each of our teams can focus on patients’ oral and overall health. “Our aim is to evaluate what the patients’ needs are. We’re looking at the overall picture for our patients and not just a quick fix. As part of the staff here, all of us want to make sure that we can do it all because we are truly here to assist the doctors with anything they need. Kristin, Ashley, and I have been trained to perform implants, prosthetics, cosmetics, orthodontics, and braces on a professional level, just to name a few services and treatments.” Everyone here at Beaumont Family Dentistry understands the importance of staying up to date with the latest treatments that allow our dentists and restorative staff to provide the best care for our patients. Every patient requires a unique approach to treatment, and with continued education, we can keep providing exactly what they need.
Between vacations, bonfires, and sporting tournaments, your children’s sleep schedule probably went on break when they did this summer. With school fast approaching, it’s vital to get your kids back on a proper sleep schedule. In fact, according to the National Sleep Foundation, getting enough sleep can significantly improve a child’s growth and cognitive function. But getting a restful night’s sleep is easier said than done when kids have had almost complete freedom for three months. Try these tips to get your kids snoozing through August and prepared for school. START EARLY AND GO SLOWLY When practicing this tip, think of the old adage: “It takes 21 days to break a habit.” If your kids have been going to bed late this summer, set a time when they must go to bed, but don’t make it too far off the time they have been regularly hitting the hay. If they shuffle off to bed around 10 p.m., push their bedtime to 9:45 p.m., and then push it back to 9:30 p.m. one week later. Slowly work your way back to an appropriate time, and bedtime will be easier when school starts. MAKE IT EASY Though the days may be getting shorter, it’s still relatively light out at night, making it nearly impossible for your kids to doze off when they should. Sleep experts recommend creating a sleeping space that mimics a cave: dark, cool, and quiet. This means sunlight shouldn’t sneak into the room, and the home should be a quiet zone after bedtime. No one wants to sleep while everyone else is having fun, so it’s important that everyone in the home is quiet at bedtime. JUST RELAX This is a rule your family should follow year-round, not just when you want to reestablish a routine. At a certain time each night, begin the nightly wind-down. For example, at 8 p.m. shut off your screens, put on pajamas, and engage in a relaxing activity, like reading a book or doing some yoga. Signaling to your body and your family that it’s time for bed will help your kiddos, and you, fall asleep at an appropriate time. BRINGING THE BEST TECHNOLOGY TO YOU
to return to the office for multiple visits. The first visit would be for the creation of the mold and the fitting of a temporary fix, and a few weeks later, the patient would return to remove the temporary solution and place the permanent one. Today, patients are no longer forced to wait. HERE’S HOW IT WORKS. First, there will be a thorough examination of the area in need of restoration. Dentists will then come up with a treatment plan that best fits the patient’s needs. With the use of CAD software, pictures are taken of the area and used to make a 3D scale that accurately represents the teeth and jaw of the patient. Afterward, the CEREC machine is put to work, sculpting the desired restoration out of a block of ceramic material chosen to fit the color of your natural teeth. Once complete, the restoration piece will be expertly placed and sealed. If you need a tooth restoration and are interested in learning more about CEREC, feel free to visit our website at BeaumontFamilyDenistry.com and contact a location near you!
When someone is experiencing discomfort with their teeth, the last thing they want is multiple visits to the dental office. People want fast and effective solutions to their problems, and, luckily, with technological advances in the dentistry field, dentists can provide just that. CEREC is a high-end machine that we use to give our patients at Beaumont Family Dentistry the fast and quality service they deserve. WHAT IS CEREC? One of the most advanced technologies used in the dental field today, CEREC, short for ceramic reconstruction, helps improve patients’ self-confidence and oral health. CEREC allows our dentists to give same-day treatments for patients who need restorations, implants, or orthodontic treatments. For over 30 years, CEREC has provided patients with more time and less stress. WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF CEREC? A patient in need of a new crown, bridge, or inlay can walk into our office and, a few hours later, leave with their restoration in place. Before CEREC, restoration methods required a patient

The Best Movies About Dogs
DOG MOVIES FOR DOG DAYS
BEAT THE HEAT WITH A CANINE MOVIE MARATHON
‘AIR BUD’ Most people remember “Air Bud” for the wild loophole, “Ain’t no rule says a dog can’t play basketball,” but this movie is about much more than a dog playing ball. After the death of his father, 12-year-old Josh Framm feels depressed and distant from his family. Enter a stray golden retriever named Buddy, who teaches Josh how to open his heart again. The two bond and learn lessons in overcoming loss, fighting for what you love, and, yes, playing basketball. “Air Bud” spawned a number of sequels and spin-off movies, but this first film is a true classic. ‘LADY AND THE TRAMP’ “Lady and the Tramp” is the classic story of two dogs who come from different worlds: the refined, loyal Lady and the rogue with a heart of gold, Tramp. This movie has music, laughs, and a spaghetti scene that rivals the balcony
monologues from “Romeo and Juliet.” One of the few animated Disney classics about animals that won’t have you in tears, this is a movie the whole family can enjoy together.
‘HOMEWARD BOUND: THE INCREDIBLE JOURNEY’
Looking for a bit more action in your animal movies? “Homeward Bound: The Incredible Journey” delivers! After three beloved pets are left behind when their family goes on vacation, they trek across the Sierra Nevada wilderness to be reunited with the humans they love. Their adventure has thrills, close calls, and a heartwarming ending that will make you want to hug your pets close. When it’s too hot to go outside, make some popcorn and enjoy these great movies with your family. Don’t worry, none of the dogs die at the end.
We’re well into the dog days of summer, the hottest, most humid days of the year. These weeks have nothing to do with real dogs; they were nicknamed after the “dog star” Sirius by the Greeks to reflect the hottest time of the year following the star’s heliacal rise. Still, it’s a pretty good excuse to escape the heat with a dog movie marathon. Here are the films we recommend.
