DECEMBER 2019
It’s hard to believe 2019 is almost over. The year has brought some wonderful new treatments — and new people! — to Beautique. Around this season, I like to reflect on what brought me joy over the course of the year. Here are a few of the highlights from Beautique. We helped husbands, brothers, and fathers get in touch with their belleza. Beauty doesn’t know gender. That became even more clear this year with the male celebrities and patients who’ve turned to Botox and found renewed confidence and youth with this treatment. Whether it be Botox, facials, or hormone therapy, personalized skincare and health care treatments makes a difference in how men feel and in how they look. We see the difference from the time they come visit us to the time they leave. We love getting to see the vivacity and energy that our treatments bring to people of all genders! We brought two new beauty experts to our team. Welcoming Deenis and Giomar to Beautique was one of the best parts of the year. We already had a strong team, and they have only made it stronger. We call Deenis our expert injector, as she’s a registered nurse experienced with Botox and platelet-rich plasma (PRP). Before coming to us, she perfected her technique while working for a plastic surgeon. Giomar is a skilled nurse practitioner with over 10 years of experience in the field. She is trained and knowledgeable in many of the treatments that we provide to our patients. Both these health care professionals allow us to better serve you! Patients no longer have to sweat it out thanks to miraDry. This year, patients were able to say goodbye to overeager sweat glands by saying hello to miraDry. This is the first and only FDA-approved treatment What We’ve Loved in 2019 A Look Back at the Year in Beauty
that permanently reduces underarm sweat, odor, and hair, and we were so excited to start providing it at Beautique this year and help our patients no longer feel afraid to wear a white shirt. Microneedling remains one of our favorite ways to rejuvenate skin. While microneedling isn’t new (in fact, one of the earliest documented applications of it was in 1905 by a German dermatologist), technological advancements have made it more effective and painless. Microneedling is foundational to PRP, where we use patients’ own plasma to strengthen their skin and advance their health. We love seeing how this fast, efficient process allows patients to have smoother, stronger skin. It’s a pretty amazing treatment to be part of. Thinking about all of this only makes me more excited for 2020. With so many beauty advancements on the horizon, we have a lot to look forward to! Thank you for being part of the Beautique family. We appreciate the opportunity to provide you with the best in beauty and health. It is our joy to reveal la belleza in you! Have a merry Christmas and a wonderful holiday season.

“After a breakup a few years ago, I cried for almost an entire year. This affected my face. The crying made my face sad and caused wrinkles under my eyes, so I looked permanently sad when I wasn’t. I got silk facials and started doing the 3DEEP facial, and my face has been renewed. I thank God for technology and the understanding staff who listen to my stories. Now I am cheerful with the face to match it. Love it! Praise Jesus, who loves all you ladies and gentlemen who read this post!” – Florinda Have you enjoyed a similar experience at Beautique? History, Glamour, and Romance Bésame Cosmetics’ Reproduction Makeup Promises All Three Audrey Hepburn. Marilyn Monroe. Grace Kelly. Their names alone conjure up images of classic feminine beauty and a longing for days gone by. Hollywood is still filled with beautiful faces today, but for many women, modern pageantry just can’t compare to the glamour and romance of the past, when bold lipsticks and short skirts were still daring. One of those women is Gabriela Hernandez, the founder of California makeup company Bésame Cosmetics. Her brand strives to capture the past by painstakingly reproducing lipstick, blush, and mascara from the 1900s, down to perfectly matched colors and detailed packaging. Every product in the Bésame Cosmetics line has a story and date attached. Hernandez delves into vintage makeup for inspiration, and when she finds the perfect shade of lipstick or blush — like 1941’s Victory Red or 1931’s Carmine (a “neutral orange-red”) — she and her team recreate it using cruelty-free ingredients that are safe for sensitive skin. The presentation is as faithful as the colors: Bésame’s mascara is sold in historically accurate cake form (just add water and apply with a tiny brush), the lipsticks come encased in “a red and gold lipstick bullet inspired by the tubes of the 1940s” and are cut in a classic shape, and the powder foundation is sold in vintage-looking plastic compacts. In addition to its historic lines, Bésame also partners with Disney to bring the looks from its classic cartoons to makeup tables nationwide. Those collaborative collections include products based on Mickey Mouse, “Peter Pan,” and, most recently, “Sleeping Beauty.” The last of which was crafted to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the 1959 film and includes an eyeshadow palette designed to look like the film’s jewel-encrusted storybook, a “royal vanity mirror” plated in rose gold, shades of lipstick matched to Aurora and Maleficent’s lip colors (which Disney provided), and even a “Make It Blue Make It Pink” color-changing lipstick that harkens back to the film’s fairies! Bésame’s products are locally made in California, where it has a brick-and- mortar store in Burbank. If you’re outside the Golden State, learn more at BesameCosmetics.com.

FRESH FINDS Fall Runway: That Post-Facial Glow Several shows on the runway this fall served refreshing looks (besides the fashion): models with bright, glowing skin and fresh faces. The secret to their look? Backstage estheticians who gave the models express facials just before they went on the runway. Paired with Stella McCartney, Burberry, and Victoria Beckham, this look was a win. Ready to jump into the new season with a glow of your own? We provide customized facials that work with your skin to provide you with that magical glow. We even have a pumpkin facial! Working with our estheticians, you’ll feel so good afterward that you’ll be ready to walk the runway. Here are some of the things we are wishing for this holiday season! 1. A Beauty Advent Calendar We all know the traditional Advent calendar that has a pocket for each day of December leading up to Christmas that’s traditionally filled with chocolate or other candy. But we’re way more excited about the idea of a beauty Advent calendar filled with hot beauty products for each day of the month. We dream of one filled with our favorite nail polishes, face masks, lipsticks, and miniature versions of moisturizers. 2. The Perfect Holiday Palette Is there anything more fun than creating that perfect look for your Christmas or New Year’s parties? The eyes have it. Start with the perfect base (like a light pink), add a darker but similar hue (like a dark red) in the crease, and then add charcoal on the outside for some drama. Finish it up with just a sweep of gold on your top lid to make magic this new year. 3. A Disappearing Act for Our Double Chin Wouldn’t it be nice if it could happen just like that? Snap your fingers and no more double chin! Looking back at those photos What’s Got Our Attention
Christmas Wish List
where it shows up out of nowhere is so frustrating. That reason alone has a KYBELLA treatment (the FDA-approved injectable for fat loss) on our wish list. 4. Collagen Boosts Minus the Retinol Thanks to the advent of natural ingredients like bakuchiol and treatments like light therapy, there are way more options for boosting collagen. No longer is retinol, which tends to be harsher on skin, the go-to choice. 5. A Stocking Full of SPF-Enhanced Beauty Products We know how much damage the sun can do to our skin. That’s why we’re so happy to see more skincare products that contain SPF. It’s almost too easy to include it in your morning routine. With products like Jane Iredale Glow Time BB Cream, which has an SPF 25 rating, you can have beauty and health at your fingertips.

What Eva Mendes Wants You to KnowAbout Beauty
Insider Tips From the Latina Star Whether it’s a small role or the leading
Know what you’re working with. It is important to know your face shape and let your makeup enhance and work with it. With her long face and strong jaw, applying cream blush horizontally through the nose line helps Mendes balance these features. Mendes acknowledges the crucial role her makeup artist, Genevieve, has played in her understanding of this. “She’s really helped me along the way as far as making me understand what I’m working with,” Mendes says. Celebrate what you’ve got. Mendes is a proponent of embracing what you’re born with, and she’s talked about how the Latin culture celebrates being curvy and isn’t “as hung up on being thin” as much of the general population is. “There’s so much diversity within the Latin culture,” the star shared with beauty site Byrdie about growing up in a Latin household. “There are so many different body types and skin tones, and I feel like it’s been ingrained in us since we were little to embrace our body types.”
part, you can’t help but notice Eva Mendes when she walks onto the screen. The beautiful brunette owns her environment, giving off a confident vibe that makes people pay attention. That beauty comes from a deep place: She celebrates who she is and encourages everyone to embrace who they are, a sentiment echoed in the accessible beauty line she started, Circa.
Mendes has long been a fan of testing out makeup styles and enjoys working with her makeup artist to try out new looks. Here are some
of the beauty tips she’s picked up along the way. Give your Cupid’s bow some love.
You know the curving edges just above your upper lip? That is your Cupid’s bow. Mendes suggests taking a cream illuminator and adding just a touch to your Cupid’s bow to highlight the area. “It really accentuates the upper lip,” Mendes says.
Here’s to that!
