I’ll Never Forget the Memories We Shared AN ANGEL JUST GOT THEIRWINGS

Longtime readers of my newsletters know that I often use this platform to reach out and communicate with my parents. I have shared many memories of my parents and how they’ve helped shape the man I am today. So it breaks my heart to say that I lost my No. 1 fan in January — my mother. She passed away in her sleep after my father gave her a kiss goodnight. Although it’s hard to lose anyone you care about, I think my mother passed in a way we all want to — in peace. She left on her own terms and was in a comfortable environment. My mother was 90 years old when she passed, and I think she left us too soon. For her memorial, my sister brought out a gift my siblings and I gave my mother for her 80th birthday. My sister came up with an idea that I am now suggesting to you. She contacted all of my siblings, and we came up with a notebook that listed the 80 things we loved about her. One of the reasons was that she took care of all of us. She was such a hardworking woman who did everything she could for us. The entry I wrote talked about how she

Every person who knew my mom knew that she had the kindest heart. She always wore a smile on her face and impacted everyone she came in contact with. I hope that I can impact people the way she did. Perhaps, subtly, she is the person that inspired my March to a Million goal. I aspire to follow in her footsteps every day and live the rest of my days in honor of her.

would make me lunch during my elementary and middle school days. I would come home each day around lunchtime, and my mom would have lunch ready for me. It was a great way for all of us to show her our love and appreciation on that birthday, and a reminder of the good things when we were celebrating her memory.

Although I may not be able to see her, I know she is with me every day. She is still my No. 1 fan and looks

down on me as I take my own journey. Thank you to everyone who has reached out to my family and me. I want to thank my clients and friends who’ve sent cards or flowers. It’s heartwarming to know that you all hold me in your heart and care enough to take this action. It means the world to me to know that you’re thinking of my family and me. Your gratitude and condolences don’t go unnoticed.

“I live each day honoring those

memories, and I try to impact lives the way my mother did.”

My mom was the best mom I could’ve ever asked for. She raised seven kids and stayed

home while my dad worked. Whenever I needed anything — someone to talk to or advice — she was there to help. You don’t know what experiences in your early life will leave imprints on you and help shape the person you are today. My mother left a lasting impression on me. Was it the subtle coaching from mother to son? Like sharing a peanut butter and jelly sandwich? Or just being a model of a caring and kind individual that I had the honor of observing? I live each day honoring those memories, and I try to impact lives the way my mother did.

Mom, I’ll miss you. I will never forget the memories I had the honor of sharing with you. But I know you’re always here with me — in my heart.

What does your typical workday look like? My typical workday consists of doing a variety of different tasks. I’m responsible for keeping our websites up to date, prepping print material for our administrative staff, crafting emails, managing the multiple different CRM systems we have, and managing our social media accounts. I also meet with Greg and Braden, the partners of the firm, on a regular basis to go over marketing analytics, marketing plans, and strategies. What is your favorite part of your job? My favorite part of my job is all the creative work I get to do like producing videos, writing copy, and designing print material. I find that the day always goes by quickly when I’m doing something like that. I love working with Adobe Creative Cloud programs and learning new techniques and new programs. What would you say to someone who is seeking help with estate planning or litigation? If you’re thinking about getting a will or trust drafted, I would highly encourage you to get the

help of a professional. There are many legal nuances in do-it-yourself programs that you might not catch or fully understand, and this could have a disastrous effect on your estate plan. There also might be other estate planning tools out there that you aren’t aware of that could fit your needs and wants better. If you believe you have a litigation case, such as an auto accident injury or a will contest, I encourage you to surf around our website a bit before calling an attorney. We have many resources that explain how the litigation process works and may even help you determine if you need to reach out to an attorney or not.

WE APPRECIATE YOU

We want to use this space to express our gratitude to the following members of the community who have recently left us a review or have referred someone to our care. Thank you!

3 METHODS TO GET YOU STARTED How Can You Pay Less on Your Taxes?

April is the month of filing your taxes. It can be tough to watch your hard-earned money be used to pay taxes. But there are some tips and tricks you can use to lower the cost of your taxes. The methods you can use vary depending on how you earn your money. Different types of income are treated differently by the IRS. Whether you earn a paycheck, are self-employed, make money from investments, or receive retirement income, each source of income has different tax rules and regulations. Regardless of how you make your money, here are a few tips to help you pay less on your taxes. Set up a defined benefit plan. A defined benefit plan is commonly known as a pension plan. These typically guarantee retirement plans for employees, and they are qualified to receive certain tax benefits such as tax-deferred investment growth or tax deductions for contributions. Most people are only aware of the 401(k)s as an employer retirement plan. But defined benefit plans are funded entirely by the employer. Eliminate taxes on investments gains. Most millionaires and billionaires pay little to no taxes on their investment portfolios. You can explore a few ways not to have any taxes on your investment gains. You can keep your profits in tax- advantaged accounts such as a 401(k), IRA, or Roth IRA. Although

you won’t have to pay taxes on these each year, you will have to pay those taxes when you decide to withdraw certain investments, such as your IRA.

Another method to explore is tax-efficient investing. When looking at whether to buy or sell your investments, you can avoid short-term capital gains, which are taxed on regular income. So, if you choose wisely on what to buy and sell, you can avoid this tax. Utilize tax loss harvesting. During this process, you’re selling specific shares of your investments at a loss to reduce your taxes. You can use $3,000 of short-term losses to balance your regular income. If the investment is a long-term loss, selling it can help offset other gains you’ve sold for profit. This method can help you rebalance some of your assets and lower your taxes. If you want more information and tips on how you can lower your taxes, allow your friends at DuPont Wealth Solutions to help. We will be happy to look at your assets and see which method will work best for you and your needs.

SUDOKU

ONE-PAN CHICKEN TACOS

Inspired by TasteOfHome.com

This recipe from TikTok user @violet.cooks almost broke the internet — and you’ll see why! The fried tortillas make it out-of-this-world delicious.

INGREDIENTS

1 lb chicken breasts, sliced into 1-inch pieces

Canola oil (for frying)

• • • •

Corn tortillas

2 tbsp garlic powder

Grated cheddar cheese

• • •

2 tbsp cumin

Pico de gallo and guacamole salsa (to taste)

2 tbsp chipotle powder

DIRECTIONS

1. In a mixing bowl, combine the chicken pieces, garlic powder, cumin, and chipotle powder. Mix until the chicken is coated. 2. In a frying pan, heat the oil. When the oil is hot, add the chicken mixture. Cook on medium heat for 5–8 minutes. 3. Remove the chicken from the pan, and add the corn tortillas (avoid overlapping) so they soak up the juices. Flip the tortillas and repeat. Then, add chicken and grated cheddar to each tortilla and fold it over the filling — in the pan. 4. Cook the tacos for 3 minutes per side until the tortillas are crispy and the cheese is melted. 5. Top with pico and guacamole salsa, and serve!
