THE 5-YEAR GROWING SEASON

Looking for the Perfect New Office Location If you’ve ever had a garden, you know that March, the beginning of spring, is a time for planting seeds. With water, sunlight, and good soil, those seeds will turn into fruits and vegetables you can eat during the summer and fall. But it’s not an immediate process, and we don’t always get our fresh garden salads right when we’d like them. Gardeners have to learn how to be patient when reaping the benefits of the time and energy they spent. About five or six years ago, I started looking into opening a new location for Grand Strand Health and Wellness. In no time at all, we had outgrown our existing space, and if we wanted to continue serving our clients as best we could, we would need more room to do so. So, I hired a Realtor and began scouring the market for potential new offices nearby. We looked at different locations up and down the Strand, but none of the existing locations ever worked. They were always either too old, too small, or too expensive. What I thought would only be a one- or two-year process soon turned into a five-year process. I was beginning to lose my patience, and I’ve struggled with being patient in the past. While I was looking for another office,

I experienced a lot of doubt and anxiety. What would we do if we could never find a site for another office?

While building our new office, rather than

retrofitting an existing space, will take more time, knowing there’s an end in sight makes it worth just a little more waiting. This way, we’ll

Then, what seemed like the perfect offer came along. Last year, there was an existing property we were very

strongly considering for the new location. It would have taken very little time to outfit the space for our needs, but when it came down to it, we wanted a space that was newer and more up to date, and the seller was just asking for too much money. So, after a lot of prayer, we turned them down. It wasn’t easy walking away from a deal that would have ended five years of searching, but I knew it wouldn’t work out quite as well as it needed to for our patients. If I’ve learned anything throughout this entire process, it’s that even when you’re anxious to find the perfect site, you have to trust God and your gut. Fortunately, it turned out to be a good move because about a month later, we purchased the lot where our new location is currently being built.

be able to add a lot of different stations, services, and tools wherever we need them. By waiting just a bit longer, the fruits of our labor will be that much sweeter. The building is well into being constructed at this point. Within the next couple of months, the future new site of Grand Strand Health and Wellness should be complete. I’m glad our patients won’t have to all share such a cramped office anymore, and after all the waiting and trusting that God would provide, I’m glad our patience wasn’t for nothing. –Dr. Chris Garner

A MULTITASKING MULTITALENT

And a Kind Face in the Community

Some businesses are lucky to have one employee who brings their A-game every day, but at Grand Strand Health and Wellness, we have the good fortune to work with several. This month, we want to put the spotlight on Angelina Jalowski. Any time Angelina sees someone come into the office, she greets them with a smile. Would you expect anything less from one of our talented and capable events coordinators and public relations staff? At the office, Angelina knocks every curveball that comes her way out of the park, all while simultaneously keeping track of a thousand things at once in our ever-so-busy marketing department. It’s not abnormal for her to be on the phone with a patient while emailing someone else about our next pamper event for the community. She makes it all seem so easy, and even in the midst of her multitasking, her work never loses any of its quality. Along with her dedication and drive, Angelina also has a bubbly, caring personality that comes out every time she speaks with a potential new patient. She is passionate about helping others become part of our family here, and her bright eyes and warm smile let you know that you’re in the right place to change your life. As you age, it can be harder to tackle the home projects you once did without a second thought. That said, just because they appear harder doesn’t mean they’re impossible to do. And, luckily, with age comes experience; you know how to get a job done faster and more efficiently than any 20-year-old would — you just need the tools to do it right. Here are three of the best power tools you can use to turn your home project dreams into reality. Previous drill models were built out of hard plastic and steel, which made them heavy, hard to maneuver, and difficult to grip. However, Makita drills are designed with soft grip handles, making them easier to use if you have arthritis or other joint conditions. In addition, they weigh only 2 pounds, so they’re safe and easy to handle in the tightest of spaces. That said, don’t let the size fool you: This drill can deliver 800 pounds of maximum torque, making it an ideal drill for your heavy-duty projects. Angelina is a multitalented and well-versed team player. She is behind the artwork that can be seen on our office boards or fliers. She has a keen eye for fine details and knows how to make things come alive through art. You never know what she is going to draw or sketch next.

Her artistic skills are just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to Angelina’s life outside the office, though. If she’s not out in the community promoting Grand Strand, she is spending time with her two little boys, Trent and Tristen. Her favorite hobby is playing the piano, and she’s been known to give lessons to anyone who is interested. She has even had time to record some of her own music. If you visit our office and hear singing, it is probably her!

Feel Like You Can’t Do DIY Projects Anymore?

impossible. Fortunately, this handy power tool is perfect for polishing, cutting small-scale copper piping, engraving, or even spot-grinding a nasty weld. It also weighs only 1.1 pounds, so it’s perfect for intricate engravings or polishing your favorite set of wheels. BLACK+DECKER 20V MAX 5-1/2-INCH CIRCULAR SAW For bigger DIY projects, it might not be realistic for you to work with the heavy, corded, and bulky saws that you used to use. When it comes to home renovations or those bigger DIY projects, there is nothing better than this BLACK+DECKER saw. With a tool-free depth of cut and easy-to-use bevel, it’s so much easier to get the type of cut you need. At 6.1 pounds, it’s painless to manage and less risky when you need to stretch to get a longer cut.

Celebrating Craig Moore A Life Dedicated to Health, Community, and Adventure

Even though Dr. Salami is the newest doctor on the Grand Strand team, he is privileged to have already served so many wonderful patients. One of these patients is a man named Craig Moore, who Dr. Salami and the entire Grand Strand team believes to be worth celebrating for not only his dedication to his own holistic health but also to his community at large. Our team first met Craig at one of our Dinner With a Doctor seminars. For those not familiar, these seminars happen every two weeks, and any member of our community can sign up to attend one. At the dinner, Grand Strand’s doctors present on various different chiropractic topics, such as neuropathy or decompression. After the presentation, Dr. Salami and Craig struck up a conversation. Because of that conversation, and many that followed, Craig is well on his

way to changing his life so he can keep going on adventures.

Client Success “Numbness, tingling, and pain in my feet and legs had been interfering with my sleep. I saw the ad regarding the cold laser treatment for neuropathy and decided to give it a try. After a few visits with Rachael, the pain and numbness in my feet has practically disappeared. This has been worth it! The staff is very good!” –Lois Dalgliesh

3 Ways to Work Out With Your Pet

Creating a healthy lifestyle is often easier with support, but if you’re struggling to find someone to join you on your path to wellness, then look to your furry friends instead. Read on for some ways to get active with your pet, and learn more about their wellness and health at PetMD.com. RACKING UP THE MILES A simple way to get moving with your pet is to go for a walk. If you’re looking for a bigger challenge, then try running, biking, or hiking with your pet. Anything beyond a walk may require extra obedience training or equipment — like a specialty tool that prevents your pet from colliding with your bike — but after a few loops around the trail, your pet will be begging to go again. And how can you say no to that face? Plus, this idea isn’t just for dogs. You can find leashes and harnesses for cats, lizards, ferrets, and other pets that love to get fresh air. GOING FOR A SWIM If you have a dog that appears to be more fish than canine, swimming might be the workout for you! Swimming is a joint-friendly cardiovascular exercise that works your entire body. If you’re not one for a dip in the pool, then kayaking, canoeing, and paddleboarding are great for your arms and core. Meanwhile, your pet can enjoy a relaxing ride or an exciting game of fetch.

Just be sure to secure your pet with a life jacket before you and your four-legged friend splash away! KEEPING IT TRADITIONAL If you want a good full-body workout while entertaining your pet, then consider including them in traditional exercises. Entertain your pup with a game of fetch and drop down for a burpee every time it runs away. Balance your bird on your shoulder while you squat and lunge. Mentally and physically stimulate your cat by dragging a string around your body during Russian twists. With a little creativity and a few of your pet’s favorite things, both of you can work up a sweat.
