Meet My 2 Furriest Employees BLU AND BOS KEEP ME ON MY TOES!
If you’ve invested with me for a while, you might think you know everybody at my office. But have you met our four-legged team members?
They’re even worse about dogs on the golf course. Our house backs up to a fairway, and we have one of those invisible fences to keep the guys in check. Well, if someone comes walking their dog past our house — which happens a lot this time of year — Blue and Bos will break right through the fence and chase the dog down to say hello! They don’t mean anything bad by it; they just get a little over excited.
My Shetland sheepdogs, Blu and Bosworth, are practically Heartland Investment Partners employees! They keep us in check and always give my mood a boost after work. The two of them are a package deal, so we like
They’re protective, inquisitive, and fun- loving, which makes them good coworkers — but it also means they sometimes get distracted. You know, like guys do!”
to call them “the guys,” but they have different personalities just like everybody else on the team.
BLU GARMAN
• • •
49 years old (in dog years)
Smart, protective, well-behaved
Surprising fact: Like many other Shetland sheepdogs his age, Blu has diabetes and needs insulin shots twice a day.
We always know the guys have gone off task when we hear yelling, screaming, and barking from the back yard. I’m usually not home for this, but Gina is not a fan of trudging through the snow, rain, or slush to collect them from way down the fairway — especially when she’s stuck doing it in her slippers, sweats, and T-shirt, which happened more than once this winter! Those are pretty much the only times we have to consider disciplinary action. That said, when Blu and Bos put their minds to a task, they’re fantastic. One of their specialties is saying hi to me after work, and oh man, are they good at it. It’s nice to come home to two guys who can’t wait to see you. They bark and jump all over the place the second I get into the house. The way they go crazy, you’d think I’d been gone for two months, not 10 or 11 hours! Blue and Bos might not be model employees, but Gina and I don’t mind. They’ll always have a place on our team. –Darin Garman
BOSWORTH GARMAN
• 21 years old (in dog years) • Friendly, mischievous, curious
• Surprising fact: When we’re not looking, Bos likes to chase geese and dump over our kitchen trash can looking for snacks.
At 49, Blu is the older, more experienced guy of the pair, but they work well together despite their
age difference. They’re protective, inquisitive, and fun-loving, which makes them good coworkers — but it also means they sometimes get distracted. You know, like guys do! It’s usually their curiosity and protectiveness that get them into trouble. They don’t like diesel trucks, and if UPS or FedEx comes rumbling near our house, they’ll go crazy trying to chase the threat away down the road.

Is Ordering Takeout Wrecking Your Finances?
•
Put together a treat at home that you adore. There are a lot of ways to brew high- quality coffee at home the way you love it — and at a price you adore even more. Meet family, friends, and coworkers at a park or for a potluck. Set up weekly or monthly meal staples. Think now and you won’t have to later. It’s time to go recipe hunting! Consider if the total bill amount will fit in your budget, even if you have coupons or other discounts. Always have fast, lazy meal options when the need strikes. There are even healthy options in the frozen food aisles these days!
It’s worth asking yourself if spending hundreds of dollars every four weeks on cafes and restaurants is getting in the way of your financial goals. If not, great! But if you’re worried, then it’s time to ask yourself what you’re craving. Many U.S. adults buy restaurant food for a number of reasons, including: • A treat to get you through your commute or workday

Statistically speaking, as a U.S. adult, it’s likely that you eat at restaurants five times a week or more, but even if it’s cheap fast food, it might be doing more damage to your personal finances than you think. >Page 1 Page 2 Page 3 Page 4 Page 5
