SPOTLIGHT ACTIVITY: Water Aerobics Water aerobics is highly recommended for individuals with Parkinson’s Disease. The heat of the water helps sooth and relax the muscles, lessening tremors, reducing rigidity and pain, and giving a feeling of freedom that’s not available on land. People living with Parkinson’s can stand tall in water with increased back extension, improving their posture. Water offers buoyancy, which allows for practice of bigger movements and improved range of motion. The water allows participants to challenge balance and coordination, in a safe environment.

COVID-19 Precautions for In-Person Activities LIMITED CLASS SIZE • Class sizes are limited to allow for safe distancing. • Pre-registration is required, and walk-ins are not permitted. MASKING • Regardless of immunization status, masks are required upon entry to all facilities. • Once seated in classroom and socially distanced you may remove mask at your discretion.

NOTE: Consult your physician or other healthcare professional before starting a fitness program to determine if it is the right fit. Do not start this fitness program if your physician or healthcare provider advises against it.
