Information for Candidates from Hong Kong

Welcome from The Master

I am delighted to celebrate here the excellent relationship between Dulwich College and Hong Kong which has developed over many years. In addition to an outstanding education, promoting genuine scholarship, pupils enjoy a beautiful landscaped campus which extends over 75 acres around our refurbished Grade II* listed Barry Buildings (1870). The Laboratory, a RIBA (Royal Institute of British Architects) London award winner, is our home for Science and a venue for the Arts, while our Memorial Garden, a place for contemplation and companionship, won the 2019 Society of Garden Designers Award. Many schools aspire to providing their pupils with a truly global perspective; few, if any, can match the Dulwich network which enables our pupils, past and present, to make this a reality. I hope very much that you will contact us here at Dulwich to find out more for yourselves. Dr Joe Spence The Master

Dr Joseph Spence, Master of Dulwich College, with Governor and past parent, Mr Bunt Ghosh, at The China Club, Hong Kong.

Junior boarders achieve outstanding results academically: in 2020 boys from The Orchard achieved 96% A*/A at IGCSE and 100% A* (or 8/9) specifically in Mathematics. Beyond Dulwich

A Dulwich education combines the pursuit of academic excellence with the development of diverse interests and talents in a caring and supportive environment. The extensive co-curricular provision in Music, Drama, Sport and Art, as well as the numerous clubs and societies of the Union, prepare our boys for team-work, leadership and fulfilment in later life. Specialist College staff, professional external advisors, dedicated IT facilities and an accredited library provide an up-to-date service assisting boys in planning their futures. Careers education and guidance is freely available in the well-equipped Careers Suite and boys attend the College’s annual Courses and Careers Convention to consult with the major professions and around 25 leading universities.

Upper School boys receive guidance on how degree course choices might influence their future careers, and have the opportunity to benefit from work experience placements with the numerous alumni, parents and others who lend their enthusiastic assistance. Boarding at Dulwich is a stepping stone to top universities in the UK and worldwide, and beyond that to successful careers in a wide range of professions. Dulwich alumni hold prominent positions within the fields of medicine, law, finance and banking, engineering, politics, academia and many other areas.

“After my years at Dulwich, I went on to Cambridge University to study Engineering, after which I pursued a career in business and finance with firms such as Bain & Company and Citigroup in London, China and Hong Kong. The Dulwich experience was very special in my heart. It marked the start of my transformation into adulthood with expanded horizons and exciting opportunities in life. “Since returning to Hong Kong, I have kept in close contact with my Dulwich College associates and recently took up the role of representing the OA network in Hong Kong, helping to build a flourishing extended family of Alleynians who meet regularly over lunch or dinner. These occasions provide excellent opportunities for professional development, but the common theme of our conversations is, of course, fond memories of Dulwich.”

enrolled as members of the Alleyn Club, which aims to foster life-long connections with all OAs so that they remain part of the College community and can benefit from membership of a global network of 10,000 alumni. With more than 300 active members, the Hong Kong branch of the Alleyn Club is one of the largest outside the UK and serves as a social and professional networking forum for OAs working in Hong Kong and the surrounding region.
