MineQuad Information

Come join us on the EXPLO MineQuad! Each week we will offer a variety of sessions where you can come build with us, conquer the weekly design challenge, and hang out with your EXPLO Virtual Quad friends! The MineQuad is hosted by EXPLO and is not open to the public - you’ll need to sign up on the Virtual Quad for each session you would like to attend.

System Requirements:

1. You will need the JAVA version of Minecraft downloaded from www.Minecraft.net to your Mac or PC computer. Check out our video on the Virtual Quad or click here to learn more about this process. You won’t be able to join our private EXPLO MineQuad on any other gaming or iOS systems. 2. A Minecraft license (username and password) for each player. You can get your license at www.Minecraft.net. 3. A desktop, web-based, or mobile platform to run our MineQuad Zoom room during each session (you’ll receive the Zoom link in your confirmation email). 4. We recommend using headphones to reduce ambient or background noise. How to Play Minecraft: If you’re new to Minecraft, check out our tutorial video on the Virtual Quad! MineQuad players exist in creative mode which means you can create, build, and fly! We will offer various challenges like constructing an obstacle course or creating a scavenger hunt for other players, so as long as you know how to move around and build, you’ll be all set. Who will be there with me? You’ll join other Virtual Quad members as well as EXPLO staff in MineQuad. The EXPLO staff (wearing their infamous orange staff shirts!) will guide you and your teammates through each challenge. You will be able to interact via the chat function in MineQuad or voice-to-voice in our private MineQuad Zoom room. For most challenges, you’ll be on a team with other players, though there will also be opportunities for independent building. How do I sign up? Look for our posts on the Virtual Quad that show the dates, times, and specific grade levels of specific sessions. When you see a session you’d like to attend, use the sign-up form in that post to let us know your real name and your Minecraft username. You’ll receive an email at the adult email address we have on file to let you know the MineQuad password and the Zoom link for your session. Sign-ups will close one hour before the session begins or once we reach capacity for the session (varies by session content). Additional Information As members of the Virtual Quad, all players in MineQuad are expected to follow our EXPLO Community Expectations: Be Kind, Be Safe, Be True, Be Curious. Violent or destructive behavior in Minecraft, including bullying or inappropriate language, will not be tolerated; players who violate these expectations will be removed from the game. If you have questions or concerns, please reach out to us at [email protected].
