Embry-Riddle has established solid partnerships with pre-eminent aerospace, security, and engineering companies, and top government agencies. These partnerships generate resume-building internships and cooperative education experiences for international students at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. your career Maria Kala Nairobi, Kenya
Computer Engineering, B.S. 2008 Electrical Engineering, B.S. 2008
While a student, Maria filed three patents for her work in ERAU’s Machine Vision Lab. In her current job as a Principal Firmware Engineer at Western Digital, her innovations have continued to be rewarded with a number of patents, both granted and pending. Embry-Riddle offers so many opportunities for growth. My involvement in classes, clubs, and sports gave me the resources to succeed and the confidence to share my success. I’ve mentored young girls in pursuing STEM careers and have recently been involved in a committee to improve diversity in tech.
Mohammed Qahwaji Jeddah, Saudi Arabia Civil Engineering, B.S. 2015 During his senior year, Mohammed entered his proposal to start an aquaponics business in the U.S. National Saudi Student Entrepreneur competition. Competing against 200 students, he placed fourth — and walked away with a $1.5 million promise from the Saudi government to start his project. The first day I saw the aquaponics lab in the College of Engineering, I wanted to learn more. I thought it would be a perfect way to farm year-round in my country, where the hot, dry desert climate makes it difficult to grow crops. I want to create the first commercial aquaponics farm in my country to produce locally fresh and organic food.
