Message from the President
by Mike Burton, President, Board of Governors
Happy December! This is typically the time of year that we start enjoying the cooler weather and our minds begin to think about the approaching holidays. I hope you all enjoyed your time at the club during the Thanksgiving holiday week and it was full of great food and family fun. As I reflect back to last month, I would like to pay honor to the many veterans at Seven Oaks who have served in our country’s armed forces. December will be a month full of activities, so take advantage of this and stop by to enjoy the many planned events prepared especially for you and your friends and family. I hope that you all enjoy the holidays and everything that they will bring us this year. I am thankful for what we have and look forward to hanging out at our wonderful club.
Bring on the Holiday Season!

Manager's Message
by Enrique Contreras, CCM, General Manager/COO
Dear Members,
We are ever so thankful for the continued support and loyalty of our members. On behalf of all of our employees, many thanks for your donation to the Employee Holiday Fund; it is very greatly apprecia- ted.
I would like to take this opportunity from all of us at Seven Oaks Country Club, to wish you and your fa- milies, a Happy Holiday and Merry Christmas. Thanksgiving was a great success; we hope that everyone in attendance had a wonderful time with friends and family and enjoyed their traditional feast, without the clean-up. We are kicking off our December festivities with a fullybookedBrunchwithSantaonDecember5th, our Ladies ‘Jingle&Mingle’ Holiday Luncheon on the 8th and ending the week with the always fun Ugly Sweater Tennis/Pickleball event on the Friday the 10th. To finish out 2021, we will be hosting a traditional New Year’s Eve Party with fantastic food and dan- cing with the Marlon Mackey Band. Thank you to those members that submmited applications for the Board of Governors. We are still looking for volunteers for our standing committees. Please give Eryn a call or send her an email for more information on our committees or to express your interest in writing.
We wish you all the best and a safe and healthy New Year!

Seven Oaks Book Club
The Seven Oaks Book Club meets each month to discuss books on a reading list which is selected by mutual consent of the Book Club members. All members of SOCC are invited to attend.
Our selection for January is…
Cloud Cuckoo Land by Anthony Doerr
Set in Constantinople in the fifteenth century, in a small town in present- day Idaho, and on an interstellar ship decades from now, Anthony Doerr’s gorgeous third novel is a triumph of imagination and compassion, a soaring story about children on the cusp of adulthood in worlds in peril, who find resilience, hope - and a book. In Cloud Cuckoo Land, Doerr has created a magnificent tapestry of times and places that reflects our vast
interconnectedness - with other species, with each ot- her, with those who lived before us, and with those who will be here after we’re gone.
The Book Club will be enjoying the Holidays in December, but please join us for our discussion on Cloud Cuckoo Land on Thursday, January 27th! Please email Bee Barmann at [email protected] to receive information on joining the meeting.

PICKLEBALL PADDLE ROTATION & THE 'PICKLEBALL SADDLE'
Scenario: All 4 Pickleball Courts are full and a foursome is now waiting for a court.
Solution: All 4 courts are now part of the Pickleball Paddle Rotation.
The group of 4 who just arrived put their Pickleball paddle into the “Pickleball Saddle”. The first court that finishes their game (up to 11- win by 2) will come off the court and place their pickleball paddle in the Saddle and the foursome waiting for the court noheads over to the open court and plays their game upto 11. Atmost,a few minutes will pass before another court will open and the foursome waiting will now head over and play. The foursome who just finished puts their paddle in the Pickleball saddle and waitsfor the next open court. During this time, only doubles is allowed, no singles play. If a group comes with 6 players, they will rotate in and out the same as afoursome. Once players leave and there is no waiting, you go back to continuous play without leaving your court.
